15:10 karjala_ I have the following problem: I want my script to read a master database table (each row in master table has many related rows in the slave table), and then partition the @master_objects in 10 smaller arrays (I can do this so far), and then launch 10 forks, each fork processing one of these 10 smaller arrays... (for example reading the $master_object->slaves->all which requires a database connection). My problem is that calling ->slaves
15:10 karjala_ from the child process requires a database connection... however I was told that the child is not allowed to continue using the database connection that was created in the parent process.
15:11 karjala_ 1) Am I right to think that this is a problem? and 2) How can I solve it? May I "switch" the $dbh object of the schema, AFTER I got an array of results? and continue accessing and using these results?

15:14 ribasushi karjala_: in the context of DBIC or in general?
15:15 ribasushi if DBIC - the answer to 1 is "it is not a problem, DBIC already handles this"
15:16 karjala_ yes, in DBIC
15:16 karjala_ Thank you.
15:16 ribasushi karjala_: also you have a weird tendency to ask the same question in several places at the same time, try to minimize this, as it duplicates work from multiple people
15:17 karjala_ Ok, I was mistakenly under the impression that this room allowed this.
15:17 karjala_ Ok I won't do this
15:17 ribasushi it's not about "this room"
15:17 ribasushi it's about multiple people starting to answer the same thing independently at the same time
15:19 karjala_ i see, ok
15:21 ribasushi karjala_: it's not a critical thing in each instance, but when it is a pattern people in general get discouraged from answering, as they know "it got asked in 4 other places anyway"
15:32 karjala_ aha
15:33 karjala_ Yes
