01:59 ruepel0r hello
02:00 deafferret ahoy!
02:01 ruepel0r i don't have a bioperl question, just some random bioinformatics questions
02:01 ruepel0r and i thought maybe this could be the right chan :)
02:02 deafferret I can try. Leaving soon though
02:02 ruepel0r ok
02:03 ruepel0r it is about parsimony
02:03 deafferret you'll find more people earlier central time
02:03 deafferret woof. I probably can't help w/ parsimony
02:03 deafferret I know what it is, and that's about it :)
02:03 ruepel0r don't understand what a parsimony score is
02:03 deafferret huh. I've never worked w/ scores for parsimony. What tool is spitting those out?
02:03 deafferret (central time USA)
02:04 ruepel0r the problem is it does not spit it out
02:04 ruepel0r but i need it
02:04 ruepel0r i am confused with times
02:04 deafferret what tool is discovering your parsimony?
02:04 ruepel0r what time is it in the states right now?
02:04 deafferret 9pm
02:04 ruepel0r i used some tools that generate trees
02:04 ruepel0r e.g. dnaml
02:04 ruepel0r or phyml
02:05 deafferret phylip?
02:05 ruepel0r i think phyml and phylip is related
02:05 ruepel0r i also used figtree to visualize the trees
02:05 ruepel0r but i don't get what the parsimony value of a tree is..
02:06 deafferret I'm not sure how trees and parsimony are related...  I'm only vaguely familiar with genomic parsimony where specific regions of the genome are cross-linked to other locations in other genomes
02:06 deafferret genomic inversions, insertions, deletions, etc
02:07 ruepel0r ok
02:07 ruepel0r i will just wait, maybe someone knows
02:07 deafferret :)
02:48 rbuels perhaps try asking in #bioinformatics?
02:49 rbuels ruepel0r: perhaps try asking in #bioinformatics
02:49 ruepel0r ok thx
05:15 deafferret rbuels: you didn't warn me this thread was 30 emails  :)
