15:36 ptl question: is it productive to try and program an alignment editor like bioedit using bioperl with perl-gtk or something?
15:36 ptl I mean, is bioperl suited to that kind of task?
16:06 faceface ptl: I found it a pain to do alignment editing with perl alignment objects
16:06 faceface but that was just me
16:06 faceface I moaned loudly about it on the mailing list, put people were like, yeah whatever.

17:16 deafferret ptl: I haven't done much GUI work, let alone Perl GUI work. Assuming GTK, I don't see why Perl / BioPerl would be less suited than Java / BioJava or the others.

17:19 deafferret If you don't assume GTK, then I have no clues whatsoever
18:16 ptl faceface and deafferret: thanks for the responses!
18:16 ptl Yes, I was assuming GTK
18:16 ptl faceface: what is the title of your mailing list emails?
