20:00 rbuels pyrimidine: i have this class.  it's a data model for working with sets of olde-style ncbi sequence db files created and managed with formatdb and company.
20:01 rbuels pyrimidine: i have a piece of a tuit now to put it on cpan
20:01 rbuels pyrimidine: and it has nothing to do with bioperl, really
20:01 rbuels pyrimidine: but should this sort of thing go in the Bio::* namespace as a matter of course, do you think?
20:02 rbuels i'm kind of ambivalent
20:02 pyrimidine rbuels: I don't see why it wouldn't be Bio*
20:02 rbuels there isn't a clear delineation of what namespace belongs to the bioperl project, and what doesn't
20:02 rbuels that's the central thing i think
20:02 pyrimidine well, that's up in the air
20:03 rbuels yep
20:03 pyrimidine ex: Bio::Phylo isn't a part of bioperl
20:03 rbuels true ....
20:03 rbuels so there's a precedent
20:03 pyrimidine there are a few other examples out there
20:03 * rbuels rubs deafferret's chin
20:04 pyrimidine Bio is a pretty generic top-level namespace, I don't think we (bioperl) can claim it completely
20:04 rbuels i guess there will never really be chaos in the Bio::* namespace anyway
20:04 rbuels not exactly a big community of people putting things up on cpan
20:04 pyrimidine it is one of the largest (maybe the largest) dist on CPAN
20:05 pyrimidine unless you are counting perl, of course
20:11 rbuels what is?  bioperl-live?
20:18 pyrimidine rbuels: yes; I think BioPerl-1.6.1 may be the largest distribution on CPAN, or very high on the list
20:19 * rbuels nods

22:13 rbuels deafferret: did one of your gnomes just kick?
