15:27 kai gah
15:28 kai stuck to writing a parser _again_
15:28 * leont knows that feeling (see Bio::SFF)

17:39 audy pyrimidine how awesome was it?
18:14 dnewkirk Are people familiar with which version of bioperl CREST is designed to use?
18:54 pyrimidine audy: was really nice.  Slides up on slideshare: https://www.slideshare.net/search/slideshow?searchfrom=header&q=%23bosc2012
18:54 pyrimidine and...
18:55 pyrimidine Eisen's keynote w/audio: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWZzUe3Kxeo
18:55 pyrimidine audy ^^
19:22 leont Oh right, that conference is going on
19:24 pyrimidine leont: :)
19:24 pyrimidine though a little depressing on the bioperl side (I didn't present, nothing new to talk about)
19:25 pyrimidine should be a better situation next year
19:26 leont Got plans?
19:27 leont (that presentation is totally killing my firefox by swap)
19:28 pyrimidine bioperl will go into a maintenance mode until we can sort out splitting it up, I'll have more time towards that
19:29 pyrimidine I also want to work on incorporating an alternative Bio::Root implementation that is Moose-based (very low-level), will use this to test Role vs Interface design stuff
19:30 * leont is still wondering if we can automatize that, it's not like we don't know anything about clustering ;-)
19:30 pyrimidine leont: right.  I'm open to suggestions
19:31 leont I've looked into it at some point, but my analysis was buggy
19:31 pyrimidine We can easily rip out parts and submit them independently, as long as the user has PAUSE perms
19:32 pyrimidine (that would be mainly me at the moment, but I think we need to expand that umbrella)
19:32 leont I think I've sent you that dependency graph before, it's complicated but it shouldn't be impossible
19:32 pyrimidine Yeah, I recall getting that.  Probably before my laptop crashed in the fall :P
19:32 pyrimidine (though I have everything backed up from that, just need to search for it)
19:33 leont I generated it with Graphiz, it had to rescale it to .42x in order to fit in the maximum width of 32k pixels when I turned it into a png :-S
19:34 pyrimidine I'm setting up a local miniCPAN where I can test a few things re: splits
19:35 pyrimidine one thing will be to have an actual bioperl-core release
19:35 pyrimidine bioperl will be a lightweight installer for that
19:35 pyrimidine (and anything else we want to add to it)
19:36 pyrimidine (e.g. split off code that was in the former monolithic release)

19:39 leont Hmmm, seems someone removed my 'bioinformatics homepage' at the old department, guess they were paying attention after all
