17:43 pyrimidine hi carandraug.  been caught up with busy work ($job)
17:44 carandraug pyrimidine: no problem. This is also not my $job
17:44 pyrimidine :)
17:44 pyrimidine No major blockers that I saw for a new point release
17:45 carandraug ok, so I will go ahead and make a release of the PAML distribution
17:45 carandraug not sure if I have the right permissions though
17:46 pyrimidine I should add you to the BIOPERLML list
17:47 pyrimidine (I really hate the way PAUSE set these up)
17:52 carandraug pyrimidine: ok. What will be the new version number on bioperl-live and -run?
17:53 carandraug I should use the highest of those two for the PAML distro to avoid issues
17:53 pyrimidine live -> 1.7.2 (long version: 1.007002).  I'll check on run
17:56 pyrimidine Is PAML currently higher than the current CPAN releases?  If so someone trying to install it should always get the latest versions but initially install dependencies, so what would happen is it would pull in bioperl and bioperl-run, then install your modules
17:56 carandraug pyrimidine: PAML is not yet released on CPAN. I will do so once you give me green light and a version number
17:57 carandraug the PAML distro will be dependent on the BioPerl distro only (-live)
17:58 carandraug (although if they are using their distro package manager, -live is dependent on -run)
17:58 pyrimidine really?  shouldn't it be the other way around?  bioperl-run depends on bioperl-live?
17:59 carandraug pyrimidine: it should but that's not how it is. The scripts in -live are dependent on the -run modules. So the Linux distributions got it right
17:59 carandraug and yeah, the -run modules are dependent on the -live modules. So you can't really install one without the other.
18:01 pyrimidine ick, circular dependency.  we should break that, and move those scripts using run modules to bioperl-run.
18:01 carandraug I will have to go once I made the PAML release. I already had plans for this evening
18:01 carandraug I think the scripts should be moved to the smaller distros as they are created. For example, I mvoed one of such scripts into the new PAML distro
18:02 pyrimidine agreed, they should stay bundled
18:02 pyrimidine what is your PAUSE ID?
18:02 carandraug CDRAUG

18:02 carandraug CARANDRAUG was too long
18:04 carandraug last bioperl-run was 1.7.1.  If the new release will also be 1.7.2 (like bioperl-live), then I will have the new PAML release also be version 1.7.2
18:04 carandraug this should ensure that the latest of all distros do not have any clash of modules
18:05 pyrimidine That works for me
18:07 carandraug let me know when I can press enter for the PAML release. I will need to run afterwards
18:11 pyrimidine I assigned you co-maint on the various PAML modules in PAUSE.  Run an upload and see if indexing progresses, and let me know if you run into problems.
18:15 carandraug pyrimidine: seems to have gone through to CPAN
18:15 pyrimidine \o/
18:15 carandraug pyrimidine: however, I'm having troubles with github. When I transfered the repo from my account to the bioperl, seems like I selected the wrong team
18:16 pyrimidine what was the team?
18:16 carandraug pyrimidine: I think I pushed it to the BioPerl team
18:16 carandraug this is the repo https://github.com/bioperl/Bio-Tools-Phylo-PAML
18:17 carandraug maybe that's not the issue. I seem to be part of all the teams
18:18 pyrimidine I just bumped your access on the repo admin, and made the team read/write
18:18 pyrimidine *to admin
18:21 carandraug pyrimidine: cool. Everything's working now
18:22 pyrimidine ok. let me know if the PAUSE upload barfs
18:22 pyrimidine should be okay
18:24 carandraug pyrimidine: just got emails from CPAN saying the files are being indexed and distributed, so all is good
18:24 carandraug I have to go now. Unlike last Friday, I won't be coming back tonight
18:24 carandraug let's talk tomorrow if we manage better sync of free time
18:25 pyrimidine not a problem. Mornings here are probably better for your UK time :)
18:26 carandraug yup, that is correct. It's tricky to fit in the time at work since I don't even do bioinformatics anymore, but there's always some dead time after lunch and during coffee
18:26 carandraug see ya tomorrow
18:27 pyrimidine see ya!
