12:28 dma_k Hi, Egon! Are you talking from Norway?
12:29 egonw no, I'm normally in Sweden :)
12:36 dma_k Ah, sorry :) I hope the weather is anyway better then in Holland. I'm not sure about winter... Have you cut enough trees for it?
12:36 egonw yes
12:39 dma_k OK. Have you got any vital remarks on patches for CDK? What I am planning to do is to port some code from Ambit poject that relates to rendering of several molecules...
12:40 egonw 1. communicate and coordinate
12:40 egonw so, discuss your plans on the cdk-devel ML, and make sure Nina is listening
12:40 egonw 2. make small clean patches
12:41 egonw if you find a bug in the CDK, and want to fix that, while doing the porting, still add that to a separate patch and add a unit test
12:41 egonw 3. don't touch whitespace :)
12:41 egonw 4. read my blog about clean CDK code
12:42 egonw (your last patch was pretty clean; you did fix bits of minor stuff, like adding missing JavaDoc, which could have better gone in a separate patch)
12:43 egonw but the first thing is really important, really, really vital
12:43 egonw saves a lot of trouble later
12:45 dma_k First thing is pretty clear. I am usually active at CDK list concerning my ideas / wishes. The rest is clear, I do my best.
12:48 egonw oh... make sure to run these things:
12:48 egonw ant clean dist-all test-dist-all (that must not give errors)
12:48 egonw ant -Dmodule=foo qa-module
12:49 egonw and make sure that the copyright header has all information...
12:49 egonw listing all people who worked on that code
12:49 egonw not sure how accuracte Ambit is in that respect, so please discuss that with Nina

13:10 dma_k >> ant -Dmodule=foo qa-module <<< -- I would prefer to run "ant test-all" :) too lazy to learn module names by heart... At the moment there are failing tests...
13:28 egonw or:
13:28 egonw ant -logfile cdk.log test-all
13:28 egonw and then:
13:28 egonw bsh tools/extractTestResults.bsh cdk.log
13:28 egonw or something like that...
13:28 egonw typing this of the top of my head
13:38 dma_k Thanks, I will find out, what is failing. I am pretty sure, this will contain one of the tests I've mention in my today's email. I would be happy to solve the issues, but that will depend on how clinical they are :) In a meanwhile I am reading http://chem-bla-ics.blogspot.com/2010/03/cleaner-cdk-code-1-list-and-for-each.html

13:39 egonw you can check online which tests you can expect to fail:
