21:36 abrody has anyone dealt with gunicorn forwarded_allow_ips before?
21:37 abrody I spent a while spinning in circles before discovering that --forwarded-allow-ips=* made it actually trust the X-Forwarded-Proto sent by the LB
23:00 Ryan_Lane @abrody ah.
23:00 Ryan_Lane what are you trying to do?
23:01 Ryan_Lane yeah, I think --forwarded-allow-ips=* is what you want
23:04 abrody yeah until setting that I couldn't figure out why all the flask redirects were coming out 'http://' and why request.scheme was 'http'
23:05 abrody also I got some basic SAML stuff working, but this python-saml library is really bad
23:05 abrody smells like it was ported straight from PHP
23:05 Ryan_Lane heh
23:05 Ryan_Lane if there's a better one around, it's fine to use a different one :)
23:11 abrody it wasn't too bad to get working, and seems fine when all is well
23:11 abrody just the error reporting is really poor
23:12 abrody it does the whole call do_stuff(), then call get_last_errors() pattern
23:12 Ryan_Lane @abrody can you open a github issue about documenting the forwarded_allow_ips stuff?
23:13 Ryan_Lane I totally forgot about that and it's likely to cause more people issues :)
23:15 wm-bot GitHub [lyft/confidant] new issue by ab: Document `forwarded_allow_ips` for gunicorn https://github.com/lyft/confidant/issues/50
23:16 Ryan_Lane abrody: thanks!
