20:54 masak moritz: having read the aggregates chapter of the DDD book myself now, I have a proposed way of doing your book hierarchy model. not sure if it's a worthy one, but it seems to be one that works.
20:55 masak each Book is an aggregate root, encompassing 0..* BookChild objects. (name negotiable)
20:55 masak a BookChild just holds a reference (either a real one or through an ID, whatever's convenient) to a Book.
21:10 moritz and BookChild is another aggregate?
21:11 moritz and if a Book is attached to another Book, does it become a BookChild?
21:11 masak no, a BookChild is just an entity within the aggregate of which Book is the root.
21:12 masak BookChilds are basically saying, "there's a Book somewhere that this Book is a parent of".
21:12 masak er, BookChildren :P
21:12 moritz ah, I see
21:13 masak as I said, I'm not super-happy with the model. but it does seem to at least live up to the qualifications.
