11:45 pdurbin I need to fix my weechat. I can't click links when they start at one line and end on the next. they're broken up

12:05 melodie pdurbin xchat is what I have been using for years and I won't change. I always have irssi, just incase I would have X broken and nothing else
12:05 melodie or for remote use... once a while
12:05 melodie I tried weechat and could not get used to it :)

12:23 St34LTH joined #crimsonfu
12:33 pdurbin mostly I like weechat but like larsks I'm thinking of going back to irssi
12:44 melodie ok
12:57 ijstokes joined #crimsonfu
13:01 Whoop pdurbin: install one of the many URL shortner plugins?
13:01 Whoop or just http://www.weechat.org/files/doc/weechat_faq.en.html#urls
13:04 ijstokes joined #crimsonfu
13:06 ijstokes joined #crimsonfu
13:12 pdurbin Whoop: hmm.
13:12 pdurbin that `/set weechat.look.eat_newline_glitch on` thing looks interesting
13:14 pdurbin looks like it's on already though
13:14 Whoop I have that off apparently and don't have issues clicking links
13:15 pdurbin interesting. I think I was able to click links just fine until I resized the OS X Terminal it's running in. or maybe after I reconnected with `screen` and resized from my linux box at home
13:16 Whoop odd, I'm using iTerm2 + tmux with no issues
13:16 Whoop real tmux, not the iterm fork
13:16 pdurbin hmm. maybe it's `screen` then
13:16 Whoop tmux handles resizing much much better than screen
13:17 Whoop trigger a /redraw ?
13:18 pdurbin Whoop: with ctrl-a F?
13:18 Whoop no /redraw is a weechat command
13:18 Whoop it'll redraw the weechat window suprisingly ;)
13:18 Whoop which might cause screen to detect the resize, perhaps
13:18 Whoop unsure re redrawing screen, not used it in a fair while
13:19 pdurbin doesn't seem to help but thanks
13:19 pdurbin I never really had this problem with irssi
13:38 pdurbin I guess in practice what I can do is maximize the window and then click the link. as long as it's not *too* long
13:39 pdurbin I did play with `/set weechat.bar.nicklist.hidden` a bit too but that didn't help
13:42 Whoop or just /script install tinyurl.pl? ;)
13:42 Whoop 12:36:38              | {yaURLs}~> http://tinyurl.com/bnutzam (beta.linuxvillage.net)
13:43 Whoop after every url
13:43 pdurbin meh. I kind of hate url shorteners. i just want the real link
13:44 ijstokes joined #crimsonfu
13:47 semiosis you could have crimsonfubot provide shortlinks whenever it sees a url in channel.  glusterbot & logstashbot do that
13:47 semiosis (by popular demand)
13:47 pdurbin semiosis: yeah, we discussed this once and I'm against it :)
13:47 semiosis ah
13:47 Whoop pdurbin: you still retain the long url, its not like you're hiding it
13:48 pdurbin meh :)
13:48 Whoop agree wrt to replacing urls with short links however
13:49 pdurbin oh, speaking of bots, if anyone knows of an xmpp/jabber bot that produces nice logs like we have, please let me know. see also http://irclog.perlgeek.de/ilbot/2013-04-17#i_6713866
13:50 semiosis openfire :(
13:50 pdurbin lol
13:53 semiosis what do you want to log?  your own client's communications?  chat room transcript?  everything going through the server?
13:54 Whoop The lack of Jabberd's is depressing
13:55 Whoop Such an awesome protocol, just too complicated it scares everyone away from writing daemons
13:55 Whoop and fully featured clients
13:55 Whoop Openfire and eJabberd are the only ones worthwhile and they're both flawed in various ways
13:56 pdurbin semiosis: I want what _ilbot produces: http://irclog.perlgeek.de
14:44 johnmorr pdurbin: ejabberd's html-format logs are slightly less nice but similar, and they have individually-addressible lines
14:45 johnmorr pdurbin: and dunno how nice prosody's logging is, but looks like you can define your own logging handler with mod_log_messages: https://code.google.com/p/prosody-modules/wiki/mod_archive
14:56 pdurbin johnmorr: interesting. shuff was going to stand up ejabberd at some point
14:57 pdurbin huh, written in Lua: Prosody IM - Jabber/XMPP server - http://prosody.im
14:58 Whoop its not very featured :(
14:58 johnmorr Whoop: how do you mean, 'not very featured'?
14:58 semiosis ejabberd <3
14:59 johnmorr Whoop: (just wondering what your threshold for ~feature-complete is)
15:02 Whoop johnmorr: XMPP has a *lot* of features, I can't remember what Prosody is missing, but I investigated a load of jabberd's a while back and they had various missing plugins from LDAP, pubsub, global addressing (was for internal corp use), file sharing etc
15:11 pdurbin it's funny to me that multi-user chat is bolted on to XMPP
15:11 pdurbin XEP-0045: Multi-User Chat - http://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0045.html

18:08 pdurbin what if my vim has tabstop=20 usually but for a certain file I want tabstop=30 ... can I pass a command line argument to vim while I'm launching it to set tabstop? or set some environment variable?
18:11 larsks pdurbin: can you add a modeline to the file?
18:11 Whoop # vim:tabstop=30
18:11 ben_e vim "+set tabstop=30" from the command line
18:11 Whoop ^ example of said modeline
18:12 ben_e if you want to do it while launching
18:12 Whoop modelines are dangerous though, some people turn them off
18:12 JoeJulian CISPA is going to a floor vote. US residents, call your representatives.
18:18 pdurbin ben_e: awesome
18:23 pdurbin I'm looking at http://vim.wikia.com/wiki/Modeline_magic but I can't get it to work, maybe because it's a tsv: https://github.com/dvn/dvn-devguide-src/blob/master/features/search/faceted/status.tsv
18:29 semiosis google CISPA
18:29 crimsonfubot http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyber_Intelligence_Sharing_and_Protection_Act
18:29 pdurbin ben_e: I updated my readme: https://github.com/pdurbin/vim-tsv
18:29 pdurbin semiosis: now you're using the crimsonfubot misfeature :/ :)
18:30 semiosis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhy7dXWjpAA
18:31 semiosis (fix it fix it fix it fix it)
18:31 whorka good summary of CISPA here: http://www.zdnet.com/what-is-cispa-and-what-does-it-mean-for-you-faq-7000013965/
18:33 semiosis pdurbin: then when you do fix it i'll complain that your fix broke things for me :P
