14:02 pdurbin bear: very cool. thanks
15:26 bear on osx what is a good tool to test network link speed, both computer->firewall and firewall->remote
15:26 bear ?
15:50 bene_ i like iperf for network throughput testing
15:52 bear oh - it's available via brew ... \o/
15:53 bear thanks bene_
15:53 bene_ yeah
15:54 bene_ iperf -s on the server end and 'iperf -c ser.ver.ip.addy'
15:54 bene_ and you get a quick and dirty measure of the raw bandwidth
15:55 bene_ then you can start tweaking flags to try different tcp windows, bi-directional tests, udp vs tcp, etc
15:57 bear coolness

23:16 hydrajump https://github.com/yudai/gotty
23:16 hydrajump ^^ share your terminal as a web app
23:20 bear that looks similar to http://shellshare.net/
23:22 pdurbin which earned me a hat tip from bear :)
23:22 bear :)
23:22 hydrajump bear: but this is written in goooooo
23:22 hydrajump :P
23:22 bear :P
23:23 bear (tho that does make it so much easier to deploy)
23:23 hydrajump and you don't install it with `curl something && ...` ;)
23:25 pdurbin curl bash
23:25 pdurbin We get a lot of crap for using curl|bash in our install process, even though… - https://plus.google.com/+KentonVarda/posts/ZDc4zLk5eZF
23:25 pdurbin as I said there, "the issue is trust"
23:26 bear the people complaining about curl|bash have not looked inside of most rpm's then
23:28 pdurbin one would hope redhat is looking
23:29 bear you would hope - I know I've seen some gnarly scripts in the past, maybe it's better this new generation of kids
23:30 pdurbin they fixed that squid init script that blows away your hard drive
23:31 bear that one still makes me shake my head sadly
23:33 bene_ heh
23:33 pdurbin QA did a good job in that case. didn't make it to the wild
