02:10 pdurbin huh. sounds like Netflix's bill for AWS is higher for monitoring than serving content: http://theshipshow.com/2015/10/we-may-have-devops-but-does-ops-have-the-dev/ (~26:00)
02:13 bear bandwidth? or storage?
02:17 bear ah - an example comment - now I need to go find the Monitorama 2015 videos

14:52 pdurbin are any of these any good? http://blog.capterra.com/free-open-source-project-management-software/
15:17 bene_ depends on what you are doing i think
15:17 bene_ i have uesd trello and played with asana
15:18 bene_ it's more "free" than "open source" on that list
15:20 pdurbin I like Trello a lot. I've heard good things about Asana.
15:29 pdurbin Here's a more specific question. How can I automate the generation of a "high level project plan" like this based on data rather than creating it in powerpoint or whatever? http://image.slidesharecdn.com/theprocessofcommunication101415-151016131911-lva1-app6892/95/the-process-of-communication-a-practical-guide-for-project-managers-26-638.jpg?cb=1445001648
15:30 pdurbin Does that make sense? Ideally, the data would be pulled from somewhere (Trello? GitHub? a flat file?) and I could re-generate a new diagram of the plan whenever I want.
15:31 pdurbin (that slide is from http://www.slideshare.net/harvardwww/the-process-of-communication-a-practical-guide-for-project-managers )
16:02 bene_ http://www.taskjuggler.org/ <- i've used this before to generate gantt charts
16:09 pdurbin interesting. thanks, bene_
16:55 bene_ i keep wanting to like phabricator, but i haven't spent a lot of time with it
16:56 bene_ and my initial impression of the subversion hosting was a bit meh
16:57 bene_ because dvn is open source and based in github, i would probably look for something that can interoperate closely with GH
16:57 bene_ i assume that was the project you are trying to manage

18:43 pdurbin bene_: ooo, a burndown chart might be nice
18:44 pdurbin bene_: it's sort of a subproject
