11:44 pdurbin yan on Twitter: "TIL 90% of Toy Story 2 was deleted by rm -rf * and only saved because an employee had been working from home. http://thenextweb.com/media/2012/05/21/how-pixars-toy-story-2-was-deleted-twice-once-by-technology-and-again-for-its-own-good/ " - https://twitter.com/bcrypt/status/721127199080718337
11:59 hydrajump pdurbin: great read
11:59 hydrajump "“Where the files went, we don’t know. The fact that it still worked without them is totally unexplainable.”"
12:00 hydrajump pdurbin: what's you're twitter handle so I can h/t you ;)
12:09 pdurbin hydrajump: https://twitter.com/philipdurbin
12:09 pdurbin yeah, it was a great read
12:11 hydrajump thanks
12:39 pdurbin sure. sometimes I think about just dropping a link to the article in here but the "rm -rf *" in the tweet was draw for me so I thought it was worth quoting the whole tweet :)

22:59 hydrajump this looks like a nice minimal IRC client https://github.com/mephux/komanda-cli
23:12 hydrajump https://github.com/chrissnell/sparkyfish
23:12 hydrajump ^^ An internet speed and latency tester in client/server form.
23:30 pdurbin hydrajump: fun that Komanda is written in Go
23:35 hydrajump pdurbin: the cli client is but I think the server project e.g. https://github.com/mephux/komanda (FOSS) slack alternative is node.js
23:39 pdurbin cool but I don't see how it's a Slack alternative. looks like normal IRC
23:45 hydrajump pdurbin: yeah what I meant was instead of relying on a third party to host your messaging service/platform you could use something like this to host your own and be in complete control.
23:45 hydrajump use-case internal company chat etc
23:46 pdurbin oh, yes, sure. I've never run and IRC server myself but I've heard it isn't too bad
23:48 pdurbin of course, something like https://rocket.chat might be more usable for people (and still have an IRC gateway)
23:51 hydrajump that looks very neat!
23:57 pdurbin the first question, I guess, is if you even want Slack or similar... or is it too distracting
