18:10 hydrajump web question: does compressing at the origin make sense if the CDN is doing compression? I'm not finding any good info explaining whether it is a best practice to compress at both the origin and cdn edge
18:13 hydrajump ok might have found a small nuggest:
18:13 hydrajump " It’s best if responses are compressed on the origin server; this speeds up the response time between origin and Fastly."
18:15 hydrajump maybe that's evident shurg?
18:23 bene might also be different advice from different CDNs?
18:24 bene or maybe there are different design choices around cache invalidation between cdn and origin
18:28 hydrajump I surprised it's not clearer :( I've looked at cloudflare and cloudfront and I didn't see anything mentioned like on fastly's site
18:29 hydrajump Not sure what's best to do
19:16 bene https://www.cdnplanet.com/guides/compression/ <- this looks like useful info
19:17 bene probably worth verifying the source a bit but it passes a basic sniff test :-)
