11:26 mornfall There's a bug in MIME encoding of bundles.
11:30 mornfall See http://web.mornfall.net/stuff/darcs-send-bug/ -- correct.dpatch is what darcs send -O makes, broken.dpatch is what I get from saving an attachment from darcs send email (same output by gnus and mutt, so probably not a client-side mime bug).
11:31 mornfall This happens when the line wrapper which generates "quoted printable" breaks a line right in front of a period.
11:32 mornfall Which is then dup'd because a line with only a period on it is "end of input" for sendmail.
11:35 mornfall The encode function in Darcs.UI.Email is abysmal.
11:36 mornfall 152     | c >= bang && c /= equals && c <= tilde ->
11:37 mornfall ^^ this probably needs && c /= period, adding period = B.c2w '.' to the where clause later
11:38 mornfall (Effectively encoding period as =2E
11:38 mornfall )
11:39 mornfall This happens surprisingly often, because we try to cram the first line of the description into 80 lines, and we use sentences that end in a period...

16:20 uniquenick how do I proceed with making my repos usable again after hitting a "Failed to commute common patches" problem?

16:24 mornfall uniquenick: Might just be a corrupted bundle, actually.
16:24 * mornfall just hit that today

16:26 mornfall uniquenick: Might just be a corrupted bundle, actually. [in case that didn't reach you]
16:27 amgarchIn9 joined #darcs
16:27 mornfall If it was just darcs apply, you don't need to do anything, your repo didn't change.
16:28 uniquenick there's just two repos, my copy and her copy, and we randomly pull from each other whenever we feel like it.
16:28 mornfall You got that error in pull?
16:28 uniquenick yeah
16:28 mornfall Ok, that's bad. :(
16:28 mornfall uniquenick: Do you run into conflicts often?
16:28 mornfall In any case, Heffalump might be able to help.
16:29 uniquenick the list of common patches it gives goes back to sept 5
16:29 uniquenick not often, but occasionally
16:29 uniquenick I tried pulling the other direction too and it does the same thing
16:29 mornfall uniquenick: For one, run darcs check on both repos if you can.
16:30 mornfall You may want to make verbatim backups of both before you proceed.
16:31 mornfall Another thing to try then would be darcs optimize --reorder on both ends.
16:31 mornfall (after backing up!)

16:53 uniquenick is optimize --reorder supposed to be really fast?
16:54 mornfall It may not really do anything, depending on how your repo looks.
16:55 uniquenick that is probably what it did then

17:58 gh__ hi
17:58 gh__ who is haskell.org's administrator for the Google Summer of Code?
18:00 gh___ joined #darcs
18:00 gh___ I've just participated to an IRC meeting for the rejected organizations of the GSoC
18:01 gh___ and the person of Google told me that they could allocate more slots to haskell.org so that they act as an umbrella organization for us this year
18:03 Igloo It might be edwardk, and if not then he probably knows who it is
18:06 gh___ okay
18:10 dolio It's edwardk.
18:10 dolio He's indisposed today, though. Backup is shachaf.
18:11 gh___ ok, I found Edward's email address so I'll write to him. Thank you dolio.

18:20 Heffalump gh___: could you include me in the mail/
18:20 Heffalump ?
18:21 edwardk joined #darcs
18:22 gh___ Heffalump: yes I'll dot it. I also have a log of the IRC meeting here: http://www.cs.famaf.unc.edu.ar/~hoffmann/log_gsoc_irc_meeting.txt
18:22 gh___ *do
18:22 gh___ hi edwardk. I was about to send you an email.
18:22 edwardk whats up?
18:22 lambdabot edwardk: You have 2 new messages. '/msg lambdabot @messages' to read them.
18:22 gh___ edwardk: but we can discuss the topic here.
18:23 mornfall What's up, anyway? :)
18:23 gh___ edwardk: so today I attended to the GSoC IRC meeting for the rejected organizations, and the person of google (@carols in the IRC log) suggested that haskell.org could be an umbrella organization for darcs this year.
18:23 edwardk ok. i see the irc meeting and i'm happy to continue on as we were before
18:24 gh___ the idea would be that Google would give extra slots to haskell.org for darcs. "a couple", in their own words.
18:24 edwardk i'd had that arrangement with her before
18:24 gh___ edwardk: cool!
18:24 Heffalump excellent!
18:24 gh___ edwardk: what do you need from us to make this happen, right now? student applications?
18:26 edwardk we were just looking to discontinue that this year because there was a bit of outcry, and carols had been a bit forgetful about the fact that we had this arrangement when I spoke with her before, but as long as carols wants to keep doing it, i'm okay.
18:27 edwardk your discussion with her should serve as a sufficient reminder for another year or two ;)
18:28 gh___ I think people need to know that those are extra slots. haskell.org does not lose slots because of darcs. This is a point even I did not understand in the previous years.
18:28 edwardk i made this point last year, it blew up into a 40 email thread even after i made that point
18:28 edwardk i had negotiated with carols for an explicit extra slot for darcs ~3 years ago
18:29 gh___ communication is hard :-)
18:29 edwardk last year she was somewhat forgetful of that fact, and greg weber from the yesod community went on the warpath, so we were originally planning on cutting the cord this year, but if she wants to continue the arrangment i'm more than happy to do so
18:30 edwardk i'll make sure to note that in the general communication and guarantee at least a slot to darcs, that work?
18:31 gh___ I think I have 2 good potential students for darcs this year
18:31 gh___ but if you think asking 1 slot is better, I'm happy with that
