08:21 _mak hi all
08:22 _mak I'm new to darcs and so I have some newbie problems.. :-/
08:22 _mak I'm trying to send some patches but I get: failed to fetch: makdisse@hub.darcs.net:emacs.d//_darcs/inventory
08:22 _mak What am I doing wrong?
08:26 _mak I've found this: http://darcs.net/Troubleshooting#darcs-push-ssh-stdout-problems
08:27 _mak but -v don't bring any light...
08:31 _mak ahh, maybe I should add a key to hub.darcs.net ... 'll try it..
08:32 _mak yup
08:34 _mak that's why silent irc channels work like psychologists...
08:34 _mak thanks guys...

12:13 Igloo Does anyone know why darcs 2.8.1 would run a repo's test twice when recording?

17:16 gh_ Igloo, I think this is http://bugs.darcs.net/issue2193
17:16 gh_ gh_, it's fixed in HEAD but not in 2.8
17:16 Igloo OK, ta

17:56 markstos I can see from "darcs changes --summary" that all the files in a particular patch are involved in a conflict, but how I can find out which other patch(es) are involved in that conflict?
17:56 markstos And Happy Friday. :)
17:57 markstos This is an interesting: If I do "darcs push --dry -s", I see the "!" conflict notation in the summary output,
17:57 markstos but if I do "darcs changes -si ./path/to/file.txt and view the same patch, I don't get the conflict indicator.
18:01 markstos Strange, a particular file is only involved in one patch, which adds it to the very old ./bin directory, yet it's got the "!" indicator with a "darcs push --summary --dry-run".  I can't guess what it's conflicting with, when only one patch has touched the file.
18:05 Heffalump markstos:  it's tricky, sadly. Best practical way is to do darcs changes --match 'hunk wibble' where wibble is one of the lines of text in the conflict that didn't come from that patch
18:06 markstos OK, thanks.
18:06 Heffalump I did write some patches to calculate them, but the branch is bitrotted.
18:06 Heffalump or at least, languishing on my own machine. Perhaps I should publish it.
18:07 * Heffalump --> investigate the status
18:07 markstos Thanks!

18:13 Heffalump I didn't merge it because it's quite slow (it internally commutes patches to find the conflict) and also a bit of a hack. It points the way to doing it for real though.
18:13 Heffalump anyway, just seeing if it builds now. It's a fork of darcs 2.7.3!

19:09 gh_ Heffalump, yesterday I looked at the "conflicts" category on the bug tracker
19:10 gh_ Heffalump, we seem to have enough work to do for one summer of code project. A hard one :)
19:10 Heffalump :-)
19:16 gh_ the good thing is that we can really improve this aspect of darcs without changing the repository or patch format (providing better feedback/visualization on conflicts, not nuking the working copy, etc.)
19:18 Heffalump yeah
19:18 Heffalump though efficient marking with the patch names actually does require a format change or a off-to-the-sid cache

21:00 Heffalump markstos: having lots of semi-related ghc problems, so I couldn't test if it builds. but I'm pushing it to http://hub.darcs.net/ganesh/darcs-conflict-marking now.
21:01 markstos Thanks.
21:05 Heffalump push is done
