18:09 iago gh_, darcs record -u does not show the same context than diff -u...
18:11 iago it is not very useful indeed :-P

18:23 gh_ iago, how is it different? beyond the fact that there is a bug that shifts lines when several changes occur in the same file
18:24 iago gh_, exactly, there's the difference

18:30 roconnor how do I look at the contents of a patch in my change history?
18:30 roconnor I want to inspect the patch I made on Mon Nov 14 18:36:57 EST 2011
18:30 gh_ roconnor, darcs changes -p "name of the patch"
18:31 gh_ roconnor, or, darcs changes --matches 'date "2006-04-02 22:41"'
18:31 roconnor gh_, okay that gives me the comment;  how do I see the diff?
18:32 roconnor or the patch
18:32 gh_ pass the -v flag
18:32 roconnor if that is possible
18:33 gh_ darcs changes -v -p "name"
18:35 roconnor gh_, thank you!!
18:39 gh_ roconnor, you're welcome :)

21:10 tomejaguar What's the right way of converting a darcs repo to git these days?  darcs-fastconvert seems to be stale.
21:20 tomejaguar Does darcs-bridge exist currently?
21:21 mtp tailor?
21:33 sm tomejaguar: it's not useful currently
21:35 sm and tailor is dead. IIRC darcs-fastexport worked best for me a month ago
21:36 sm I installed it with an older GHC
21:36 tomejaguar Hmm
21:36 tomejaguar I also found https://github.com/purcell/darcs-to-git
21:36 tomejaguar which claims to do what I want
21:37 sm it's slower and less robust
21:37 tomejaguar Than darcs-fastexport?
21:38 sm I think I meant darcs-fastconvert. I keep mixing up those two
21:38 sm http://hackage.haskell.org/package/darcs-fastconvert
21:38 tomejaguar Yeah, it's confusing.
21:38 tomejaguar Do you happen to know if there is some conflict with >= darcs-2.6?
21:38 tomejaguar or does the dependency just need bumping?
21:39 sm I think bumping dependencies will be a costly task, I just let it build with the specificied versions
21:39 tomejaguar Costly how?  I've never tried such a thing.
21:39 tomejaguar Do you have to chase many dependencies down?
21:40 sm yes, and update the code for their apis
21:41 sm darcs 2.8 will require base 5 which will require ghc 7.x will require updating exception code and other details, stuff like that
21:42 sm if you just want to use your installed darcs 2.6 by all means try it. I'd use cabal-dev instead
21:45 sm ah there it is.. FYI I built successfully with ghc 7.0 (cabal install -w ghc-7.0 ...)
21:47 tomejaguar darcs-to-git seemed to work fine.  I'll stick with it for now and look at fastconvert later if necessary.
21:47 sm great
21:48 tomejaguar Thanks for your help sm.
21:49 sm np
21:49 tomejaguar Are you Simon Marlow?
21:49 sm no, Simon Michael
21:49 tomejaguar Well thanks Simon Michael!
21:49 tomejaguar Good that you've got a Simon name :)
21:50 sm why, I'm practically haskell royalty! :)
