01:16 jgross "darcs get --lazy http://code.haskell.org/Agda" gives me "darcs: getCurrentDirectory: does not exist (No such file or directory)" I installed darcs with "cabal-dev install darcs -f-curl" (I was getting some error about libiconv or something without -f-curl).  How do I go about diagnosing this/fixing it?
01:26 jgross The problem seems to be that the current directory is on an AFS file system.  Where do I report this?
01:33 slack1256 darcs get functions or not? (without lazy)
01:33 slack1256 there is bugs in http://bugs.darcs.net/
01:33 slack1256 but let's check this out a little more
01:34 jgross Same error message without --lazy.  I've sent an email to bugs@darcs.net.
01:34 slack1256 Hey
01:34 slack1256 from here is works
01:35 jgross Are you doing this from an AFS file system?
01:35 slack1256 Ah, no, I thought you thought code.haskell.org was using AFS
01:35 slack1256 that's a mac filesystem right?
01:36 jgross AFS is a linux networked file system.  It has all kinds of wonky problems because it's networked.
01:36 slack1256 never mind, wikipedia.
01:38 slack1256 could you do a 'darcs get --lazy --verbose-debug' and hpaste it?
01:38 slack1256 --debug-verbose sorry
01:40 jgross http://hpaste.org/88517
01:41 mtp can you strace it?
01:41 * slack1256 having a look
01:43 slack1256 jgross: maybe this is a little too much, but could you post your 'env'? (feel free to omith personal fields)
01:43 jgross mtp: strace at http://hpaste.org/88518
01:45 jgross slack1256: env at http://hpaste.org/88519 (some things replaced by dots)
01:45 mtp hmm
01:45 Igloo Is /afs/csail.mit.edu a directory that should exist?
01:46 jgross Igloo: yes, it exists; it's the csail AFS locker.
01:46 Igloo (assuming that that's where .. points)
01:47 mtp huh
01:47 intripoon joined #darcs
01:47 jgross slack1256: oops, I ran env from the wrong shell.  Here's the fixed one http://hpaste.org/88520
01:47 Igloo jgross: What happens if you run this in that directory?: ghc -e System.Directory.getCurrentDirectory
01:47 slack1256 oh. ok
01:48 mtp darcs keeps calling chdir("..")
01:48 jgross Igloo: no, ~ is /afs/csail.mit.edu/u/j/jgross, so .. is /afs/csail.mit.edu/u/j
01:48 jgross Igloo: the ghc -e command gives "/afs/csail.mit.edu/u/j/jgross"
01:48 slack1256 I have the same question than Igloo
01:48 Igloo jgross: Oh, actually, I think I mean in /afs, not /afs/csail.mit.edu
01:49 Igloo mtp: It's presumably going up the tree looking for an _darcs
01:49 mtp shouldn't it have found one in . when it first tried?
01:50 Igloo jgross: What about if you "cd /afs" first?
01:50 mtp the mkdir("_darcs") succeeded
01:50 mtp http://hpaste.org/88518#line1569 so why is it going up the tree in the first place? :)
01:50 jgross Igloo: pushd /afs && ghc -e System.Directory.getCurrentDirectory gives me "/afs" after 2-10 seconds of hanging there.
01:51 Igloo jgross: Interesting. What about after "cd /afs/csail.mit.edu"?
01:52 Igloo mtp: Hmm, at some point it checks to see if you're making a repo inside a repo, I think, but I would have thought it would do that first. I haven't looked at the code, though. And it cuold be something else entirely
01:52 jgross Igloo: returns the correct directory ~instantly
01:53 Igloo Hmm, the linkes on 1659,1660 are a little scary, given it's not in the repo directory at that point
01:53 Igloo Anyway, bed time for me I'm afraid
01:54 jgross I have to run off, but I'll be back later, and check my logs.
01:54 mtp look at what happens right after the stat("_darcs")
01:54 Igloo s/linkes/unlinks/
01:54 mtp http://hpaste.org/88518#line1579 open("_darcs/format") sets errno to ENOENT
01:55 mtp maybe darcs should mkdir("_darcs") and immediately chdir() into it

21:26 adnap Hi
21:31 adnap I have always wondered how to do something like a git branch with darcs. I can copy the repo and make changes in the copy, but how would I merge the changes of this copy with the original repo?
21:33 mtp push them from the change or pull them into the original
