13:59 * owst finally got around to making darcs-bridge work as darcs-fastconvert, I think.
13:59 owst (I just nobbled all the bridge-like functionality so people don't use it)
14:01 bfrank_ man, I get a lot of darcs failed resource busy (Device or resource busy) errors on NFS
14:01 owst bfrank_: usual response would be to get hold of a log of whatever command you're using with --debug-verbose appended - then a bug report
14:02 bfrank_ I was using darcs record --pipe
14:02 owst Urk, what for?
14:02 bfrank_ translating a svn repo
14:02 owst Does SVN not have a fast-exporter ?
14:02 bfrank_ I can't compile fastimporter
14:02 bfrank_ and there isn't an already compiled version
14:03 owst What os are you on?
14:03 bfrank_ I am on remote systems I have no control over
14:03 owst Righto, too bad.
14:03 bfrank_ yep, it sucks
14:03 bfrank_ the errors slow everything down
14:03 bfrank_ I get them at least once every three commits or so
14:04 bfrank_ when I record, does darcs fork off a daemon or something in the background?
14:05 owst No, what would it do that for?
14:05 bfrank_ not sure
14:05 owst It's just a haskell executable
14:05 bfrank_ just not sure why the files and resources are locked
14:06 owst What's the error?
14:06 bfrank_ man, I get a lot of darcs failed resource busy (Device or resource busy) errors on NFS
14:06 owst which resource, does it say?
14:06 bfrank_ it varies
14:06 bfrank_ this time it was
14:06 bfrank_ _darcs/tentative_hashed_inventory-0: rename:
14:08 owst Right, so that's the atomicity of a record at play - darcs writes into tentative_blah and then renames without the prefix (which is atomic IIRC), to prevent concurrent access problems
14:08 bfrank_ I am not sure what else should be accessing that file
14:08 owst Not sure why that would be busy though? I wonder what would happen if darcs tried to rename that file before it had finished being written
14:08 owst (I know about nothing w.r.t NFS)
14:09 owst Anti-virus?
14:09 bfrank_ it would be nice if when I record there was a way to specify a retry or something
14:09 owst Yeah, it would
14:09 bfrank_ so I don't have to run the command again, and re-enter everything
14:10 bfrank_ it seems like usually, when I do run the command again, everything saves as expected
