09:31 adnap http://darcs.net/FAQ#how-do-i-sign-and-verify-darcs-patches says "Darcs gives you a mechanism to sign individual patches (using GPG)", but I don't see anything about how to do it in the man page

13:31 vikraman Heffalump: I have written an initial draft for my proposal
13:31 vikraman Heffalump: I will be travelling tonight, I will finish it by tomorrow night
13:50 hvr joined #darcs
13:50 hvr I've got a checked out 'transformers' repo, and 'darcs pull -a' hangs after "Getting and merging the following patches: [...list of 3 patches...]"
13:51 hvr and darcs just sits there and burns cpu cycles at 100%
13:51 hvr any suggestion how I can debug this?

15:21 Heffalump hvr: pull the patches one at a time to isolate the specific one causing the problem
15:23 Heffalump vikraman: great. A couple more things I remembered you should mention are (a) how you will communicate with the community during the project (blog etc) and (b) if you have any schedule conflicts with the GSoC timetable  and how you would handle them if so (it seems petty common for the US-based schedule to be problematic for other countries)

16:32 hvr Heffalump: it's the last one in the transformers repo

16:49 sm hvr: "add ExceptT transformer and deprecate ErrorT" ?
16:49 Heffalump hvr:and your own repo has no local changes or patches that aren't upstream?
16:50 sm I got the repo, obliterated the patch and pulled it again with no trouble. I think this means you have some highly-conflicting extra patch or working copy changes
16:52 hvr I'd love to tar up the folder I have, and upload it somewhere
16:52 hvr it's just 1 MiB or so
16:52 hvr anyone interested? :)
16:53 hvr I need a way to append to that one, as I need it for the darcs2git bridge at git.haskell.org
16:54 sm happy to take a look
16:54 sm also maybe the git exporter built in to darcs HEAD can replace darcs2git
16:55 hvr that it'd be great; alas darcs HEAD requires a version of storage-hashable that isn't released
16:55 sm hashed-storage ? It's included in the darcs source
16:55 hvr oh
16:55 sm that's tripping everybody up
16:56 hvr sm: can I email you a tarball, or shall I find a place to upload?
16:56 sm it's sunday morning, I'd prefer not to open email
16:56 hvr hehe
16:56 sm but you can check yourself
16:56 sm darcs push --dry ?
16:56 sm darcs wh -s ?

17:02 hvr sm: https://ghc.haskell.org/.tmp/transformers-darcs.tar.xz
17:02 hvr I've tried those commands, but I know too little about darcs :-/
17:02 hvr sm: it's a "bare" repo
17:03 hvr it worked fine, till 2014
17:03 hvr then the mirror-script broke
17:07 sm hvr: here, the pull works fine in that repo. As expected, since it has all the upstream patches
17:07 sm but if try to obliterate the last patch, it hangs
17:07 sm I
17:08 hvr sm: so a 'darcs pull -a' should have worked?
17:08 hvr which version of Darcs do you use?
17:08 sm it seems like maybe this copy is a bit confused; if I wanted to get work done, I'd just get a fresh copy at this point
17:09 sm latest darcs head here, 2.9.8+36
17:09 hvr is the integrated git-converter  in darcs HEAD usable?
17:10 sm yes. darcs convert --export | git fast-import I believe
17:10 hvr as I'd be tempted to switch to that; I need a darcs-to-git bridge whose commit ids are stable
17:11 sm you should
17:11 sm but also, just getting a fresh copy of the upstream will quite likely solve your problem, it does here
17:12 hvr yeah, but a fresh copy leads to a different darcs2git result :-/
17:12 sm ah. Then yeah, give the new exporter a try
17:14 sm I don't know if ids are more stable, but it's maintained and faster
17:14 hvr "maintained" is the key here I guess :)
17:14 sm always nice to have :)
