19:13 alexei_ Just had an idea: what if one could redefine the "vaccuume" state to a, say, current snapshot and auto-magically "inverting" all the patches still have the possibility to go back in time.
19:14 alexei_ The managers dont let us release the code together with the history. So we have to publish a snapshot. If one wants to continue using darcs that would be a fresh, unrelated repository.
19:15 alexei_ With a non-empty vaccuum state, the guy who has the "inverted" patches has the history. Those who dont --- will only be able to go forward in time.
19:16 alexei_ *and by inverting ...
19:31 Heffalump amgarchIn9: can you express this with lazy repositories?
19:32 Heffalump not sure how inconvenient they'd be though
19:32 Heffalump biaw
19:38 amgarchIn9 right, that goes in the same direction. In my case we'll have to live with two repos anyway. The public version has been foobar'ed beyond recognition.
19:50 amgarchIn9 Approaching it from the "lazy repo" side is even better. One would not want the working copy to change after pulling/unpulling those historical patches. They should just increase the resolution on the timeline back then. And as such those patches arent real patches.

20:33 Heffalump I think the main feature work you'd need to make it work properly is to make sure commands are more robust when they can't get missing patches
