17:54 Gowilla http://darcs.net/Development/Policy says we should provide a human-readable copy-and-paste recipe for installing darcs on Debian stable if we want to drop support for GHC 7.4.x. Anyone remember what such a recipe should look like? Does it involve downloading GHC 7.6 binaries or something?

18:01 gh_ Heffalump, I don't.. and I find this paragraph too incantatory
18:01 icicled Heffalump, btw, yes p<n> means local patches have been applied
18:07 Heffalump gh_: we could just drop it - I don't know if that would realistically hurt anyone
18:07 Heffalump or we could keep GHC 7.4 support in HEAD for now
18:10 gh_ Heffalump, about the paragraph, yes I'd vote for dropping it. I think we intuitively know the benefits and costs of supporting older versions of ghc, I'd rather we handle this on a case-to-case basis.
18:11 gh_ ubuntu provides ghc 7.6 since version 13.04 (http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=ghc)
18:11 gh_ what's up with 7.4?
18:13 Heffalump nothing specific, but I did an experiment a while ago with new type system features that was stymied because of GHC 7.4, so I'd like to drop it at some point and have another look
18:13 Heffalump I'll do the experiment locally and then make a case for dropping it if the experiment is successful
18:13 gh_ ok
18:15 gh_ if 2.10 gets released and we keep on providing minor updates for 1 or 2 years, we may have to make it support ghc 7.10, so it may make things simpler if we don't guarantee support for 7.4
18:15 Heffalump yeah
18:18 gh_ if 2.10 gets released *by the end of the year*
18:19 gh_ say november

18:54 gh_ qsuscs, about a .mobi o .epub manual of darcs, currently we don't have it
18:54 gh_ qsuscs, but you can get the latex sourced of the manual by cloning http://darcs.net/releases/branch-2.8/ and looking into doc/
18:55 gh_ qsuscs, alternatively if you're using darcs HEAD you can generate a reference of commands by running darcs help markdown, then you can convert the output to various formats using pandoc, for instance
19:46 Heffalump our Setup.lhs is a monster :-(
