07:09 Heffalump MasseR_: yes, revert is only for local changes so that wouldn't make sense. You'd need obliterate to go back to an old repo state, but darcs doesn't do in-repo branching so that would actually delete the local copies of the patches.
07:11 MasseR_ Yeah. My use case wasn't the best. I had automatic commiting to darcs repo for my orgmode. At some point I accidentally deleted 60% of my history and tried to revert it back

07:56 gour lelit: hiya, ping
07:56 lelit gour: hi!
07:57 gour lelit: you're still darcs-er?
07:57 lelit a bit less, nowadays, but still here :)
07:58 lelit how's going?
07:59 gour lelit: nice, i mostly settled on fossil and i am in contact with the dev who would like to migrate from fossil, but would like to establish svn <--> fossil mirror - there is already svn <---> git one, some people are looking into possibility to do svn --> fossil, so i recalled your tailor. was it capable to convert from/to svn?
08:00 gour s/migrate from fossil/migrate from svn/
08:00 lelit I'm afraid not, I never implemented the fossil backend, sorry
08:01 gour i see that tailor's site seems to be down, right?
08:01 gour well, did you handle svn?
08:01 lelit but, don't both svn and fossil "talk" the fastimport protocol?
08:01 lelit yeah, svn was handled
08:02 gour there is e.g. git <--> fossil via fast-export/import, but is looks that svn has some peculiarities
08:02 gour that's good to know. is the code still alive somewhere?
08:03 gour i'm not sure svn talks fastimport, iow. no idea how svn2git is working
08:05 gour it looks there is something for svn - http://ba.rr-dav.id.au/svn-dump-fast-export/
08:07 lelit yes, I found the same
08:08 gour i've found the following as well: http://www.catb.org/esr/reposurgeon/
08:09 gour still, i believe tailor was/is still very nice piece of software. could one handle 2-way sync with svn repos?
08:09 lelit yes, that the best supported/maintained tool nowadays, capable of migrating big repositories, such as GNU Emacs one
08:10 lelit but I don't know if it is suited to 2way sync
08:11 lelit gour: I can reupload tailor repo on hub.darcs.net, because the old site is gone unfortunately
08:11 gal_bolle joined #darcs
08:13 gour lelit: that would be good. i'm sure someone who is knowledgeable could make something out of it. do you have some git-account? it could be easier for devs to check it out via git than by using darcs?
08:18 lelit well, first of all I'd try to upload the darcs repo
08:18 * lelit tries to convert it to darcs-2 ...
08:20 gour ok, excuse me giving you work :-(
08:21 lelit no problem
08:21 lelit it's actually something I had in mind doing, sooner or later :)
08:22 lelit I don't have the need anymore, but for history sake...
08:24 lelit "darcs convert" seems stuck... I'll let it work for a while, if that does not work, I'll try to convert the repo to git
08:25 gour thanks a lot!

10:11 lelit gour: it's harder than expected :-|
10:12 lelit the repo is in "old" format (hashed), darcs convert is still stuck, darcs-fast-export fails, and tailor itself executes a "darcs pull" that fails with an internal error!
10:12 lelit :-\
10:13 gour :-/
10:14 gour if you have some git-based account, can you just do initial-import in git repo with the latest snapshot of the codebase?
10:15 lelit yes, easy enough, but it tells a long story about a tool designed to replicate history unable to eat its own dog food :-)
10:15 gour heh
10:16 gour it's darcs problem, isn't it ;)
10:16 lelit I seem to remember that darcs learned how to output fastimport format, but I can't find it...
10:18 lelit ah, http://bugs.darcs.net/patch1111
10:18 lelit probably in current in-development darcs
10:24 lelit does anybody have a binary (linux 64bit) of a recent darcs screened/development?
10:34 * lelit recompiles darcs devel
10:40 lelit wow, that worked great apparently, and fast! :-)
10:41 * lelit tries "darcs convert export | darcs convert import"
10:45 lelit convert import does not seem to work
10:50 * gour is embarrassed giving so much trouble to lelit
10:53 lelit please don't :)
10:53 lelit you catched me with a few spare hours :-)
10:54 gour thank you
10:56 lelit gour, here you are: https://github.com/lelit/tailor
11:00 gour lelit: thanks a lot!!!
11:00 lelit you're welcome
11:00 gour i'll inform you if it contribute to svn --> fossil
11:00 lelit sure, thank you
11:01 * gour bookmarked the repo and going to post to fossil ml
11:06 lelit even darcs 2.9.9 "convert darcs-2 old new" does not work, on tailor repo
11:07 lelit anyway, leaving now, have a nice day everybody!
