Time Nick Message
00:00 BitPuffin sm: it feels like the issue is that it can't handle the fact that the private key is encrypted
00:02 BitPuffin https://gist.github.com/BitPuffin/c9e6514bbaa9f9952ebe
00:03 ggherdov` joined #darcs
00:04 sm so the first error is Failed to start ssh connection:
00:04 sm fd:4: hGetLine: end of file, eh
00:05 ggherdov` joined #darcs
00:05 sm you could probably replace ssh.exe with a shell script calling ssh -v $@, too
00:06 sm or even ssh -vv $@
00:06 BitPuffin sure
00:07 BitPuffin or just an alias
00:08 BitPuffin or hmm
00:09 BitPuffin an alias maybe wouldn't help I guess
00:09 sm maybe not
00:09 sm is Heffalump's binary a cygwin build ?
00:09 BitPuffin nah I don't think so
00:10 sm I could imagine it failing to play well with a cygwin ssh then
00:13 BitPuffin maybe
00:14 BitPuffin sm: hmm I don't know if the output was different, maybe it is scp I should create a script for?
00:15 sm no, I'd try to get a -v in https://gist.github.com/BitPuffin/c9e6514bbaa9f9952ebe#file-gistfile1-txt-L12
00:15 sm but using a native windows ssh exe seems likely to be a quick fix
00:15 BitPuffin looks the same
00:16 BitPuffin sm: well we never actually tested it with putty ssh either so it could be broken but I'll try
00:23 BitPuffin sm: how are the pubkeys separated? just a newline?
00:23 sm yes
00:24 BitPuffin sm: when it's putty do I add the entire ---- BEGIN public ssh key part and end too?
00:24 BitPuffin including the comment etc?
00:24 BitPuffin or just the key itself
00:24 sm uh where are we talking about ?
00:25 BitPuffin well when I look at my public key
00:25 BitPuffin it includes a begin and end delimiter and a comment
00:25 BitPuffin and then the key
00:25 BitPuffin followed by an end
00:25 BitPuffin which is not how the generally look
00:25 sm where ?
00:26 sm http://hub.darcs.net/settings ?
00:27 BitPuffin no in the key created by puttygen
00:27 sm I don't know about that. But the key is usually one line, beginning with ssh-rsa (eg), not the rest
00:28 BitPuffin yeah
00:28 BitPuffin putty spits out one with newlines and crap
00:28 BitPuffin what garbage :P
00:28 sm never mind, if it works :)
00:28 sm does it make a connection manuall ?
00:28 sm y
00:29 sm your original problem is independent of whether you're using a key or manual password entry, right
00:30 BitPuffin well no I can't get just ssh'ing to darcshub to work
00:30 BitPuffin and get the allocation failed message
00:30 BitPuffin it just says no authentication method found
00:30 BitPuffin or rather No supported authenticatio methods aailable (server sent: publickey)
00:33 sm what if you remove the ---- and Comment: lines in the pubkey field on hub
00:33 BitPuffin yeah I'm trying different combinations
00:33 sm I don't know what that format is
00:34 sm oh maybe I do. You should paste your public key into hub settings, not the private one ?
00:34 BitPuffin yes this is the public key not the private one
00:34 sm ok
00:35 BitPuffin including the comment and all?
00:35 sm the only keys I've used with hub are the unix-style "ssh-rsa ....one line" type
00:36 sm and FYI hub uses a limited ssh implementation, not the normal openssh
00:37 BitPuffin yeah
00:37 BitPuffin it would probably think that the newlines means new key
00:37 BitPuffin yet I guess putty kills itself when it doesn't get the exact same public key format back
00:38 sm maybe http://hub.darcs.net/simon/darcsden/issue/64 is relevant
00:40 sm and http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2224066/how-to-convert-ssh-keypairs-generated-using-puttygenwindows-into-key-pairs-use
00:44 BitPuffin now we're talking let's see if push works
00:46 BitPuffin sm: I guess I didn't encrypt my private key this time so we don't know if it's that lol
00:47 BitPuffin now it just says pushing to <stufF>...
00:47 sm do you mean you didn't put a passphrase on it ? That shouldn't affect much
00:49 BitPuffin yeah
00:50 BitPuffin it seems to get stuck on with ssh transfer-mode BitPuffin@hub.darcs.net get format
00:51 sm I see the transfer-mode process still running
00:51 sm maybe it takes a while
00:52 BitPuffin i cancelled it
00:52 BitPuffin but okay I'll try and have it running for a while
00:52 BitPuffin but it normally doesn't take that long :/
00:52 sm ok
00:53 sm nothing very big being pushed eh
00:53 BitPuffin mmmmmmm
00:53 BitPuffin it's a few semi large patches I guess
00:53 BitPuffin by which I mean a few hundred lines
00:53 BitPuffin not thousands
00:53 sm that's not a problem
00:54 sm except, if a darcs patch is very conflictful with others that can slow things down
00:54 sm but you pushed these same patches before from mac without problem  ?
00:54 BitPuffin you mean on darcshub side?
00:55 BitPuffin yess, though it did whine about canocilaziepath or something missing I think
00:55 sm I think you originally pushed this repo to darcs hub from mac, successfully ?
00:55 BitPuffin or maybe that was with the wrong url shown by darcshub
00:55 BitPuffin yes
00:56 BitPuffin okay now it said failed
00:56 BitPuffin BitPuffin@hub.dacrs.net:yig is not a repo
00:56 sm that was me, I just rudely restarted it
00:56 BitPuffin oh
00:56 BitPuffin :p
00:56 sm clearing old jobs. Worth a try
00:56 BitPuffin tell me when I should try again
00:56 sm go ahead
00:58 sm also, it wouldn't hurt to try pushing to a new empty repo
00:58 sm it seems pretty close to working
00:58 sm can also try pushing just one patch (--to-patch ...), and with --debug-verbose
00:59 sm and presumably pull over ssh works
01:00 BitPuffin yeah I'll try an empty repo
01:01 BitPuffin sm: is darcs get url being wrong a known bug?
01:02 sm where's that ?
01:02 BitPuffin to the right
01:02 BitPuffin when you look at a repo
01:02 BitPuffin it says darcs get url: username@hub.darcs.net:username/reponame
01:03 sm that works here
01:03 sm that's using ssh. There's also a http url that is read only
01:03 BitPuffin well when I push to username/reponame it doesn't find the repo
01:04 BitPuffin but if I push to just reponame it works
01:04 BitPuffin I'm trying to darcs get my new repo but it seems stuck here too
01:04 BitPuffin you can probably see it
01:09 sm yes, I can see it and strace tells me it's waiting on something :)
01:09 BitPuffin :P
01:11 sm sorry, I'm out of ideas and time for now
01:12 sm any other windows users around, please test
01:12 BitPuffin yeah
01:12 BitPuffin I think it might only be Heffalump
01:12 BitPuffin worst case I use darcs locally for now and sync with my mac for pushing
01:13 sm or run darcs in a vm ?
01:14 sm or fix darcs building with ghc 7.8 on windows, or build it with ghc 7.6
01:14 sm sorry
01:14 sm the project sounds fun btw
01:15 BitPuffin if I don't misremember, Heffalump said that darcs recently updated to only work with latest ghc or something
01:15 BitPuffin sm: you mean my programming language? :)
01:15 sm yup, yig
01:16 BitPuffin yeah I hope it will be good, most of the docs are quite outdated etc
01:16 BitPuffin but the design i sort of starting to come together, wish the implementation was a bit further along though :P
01:18 sm #haskell-game  will be interested
01:19 BitPuffin :P maybe, they probably want to use haskell though I'm assuming
01:19 sm eh, actually why do I say that, this is not haskell related
01:19 sm well good luck, see you o/
01:20 BitPuffin haha yeah :P thank you, see you around
01:29 BitPuffin sm: fyi syncying repo to osx and pushing from there worked, guess that's my new scheme from now :P

07:26 Heffalump BitPuffin: hopefully you'll read this in logs:
07:27 Heffalump cloning via ssh works ok for me, but my private key doesn't need a passphrase
07:27 Heffalump I'm using an ssh distributed with mingw, I think
07:32 Heffalump oh, I take that back, I screwed up. I think I get the same as you
07:44 Heffalump ok, third try. It works fine for me with a passphrase-less key, but it behaves strangely when I add a passphrase to my key, and eventually fails after I enter my passphrase repeatedly. It looks like some of the ssh invocations aren't correctly passing through the prompt.
07:46 Heffalump can you use ssh-agent?

12:34 wferi Hi! How do I apply a patch bundle without checking its context?
12:36 wferi It's an unrevert patch. I did some unrecord-record (to rename patches) on the repo, so there's no file change at all.
12:37 wferi (darcs amend --edit did not cut it, because the patches were interdependent)
13:40 wferi ... or how do I convert a darcs bundle to standard diff?

15:52 BitPuffin hello
15:52 BitPuffin does darcshub have an api?
15:52 BitPuffin for example so that a bot can monitor when records are pushed and report it in my irc channel :P
16:05 notdan BitPuffin: the only thing I can think of is an RSS feed
16:05 notdan an atom feed rather
16:09 BitPuffin notdan: how does one access the feed?
16:10 BitPuffin found it
16:11 BitPuffin just add /atom after changes :P
16:12 notdan yeah, it's weird that there is no <link> tag on the website
16:13 BitPuffin yeah

17:29 sm hi all
17:29 sm feel free to add <link> to darcs hub
17:30 sm BitPuffin did you see Heffalump's comments 10h ago
17:30 BitPuffin no :o
17:30 sm check the channel log
17:30 * BitPuffin looks at logs
17:30 sm sounds like you might have been right about it being passphrase-related
17:30 BitPuffin well it couldn't handle it when there was no passphrase either
17:31 sm yeah, right. Could be multiple issues happening too
17:31 BitPuffin yep
17:32 BitPuffin what does he mean by ssh-agent? I was using Pageant when testing the putty ssh instead
