05:21 Heffalump lelit: not at present, making static binaries tends to be a bit problematic (libc tends to warn it doesn't actually work)
05:22 Heffalump lelit: on the other hand, darcs.net is currently running squeeze, so perhaps we can make a binary there that'll work..
06:21 lelit Heffalump: thank you, but I think I'll try making one by myself. But all links to teratorn.org I tried are 404s...

11:21 notdan Heffalump: is it possible to make a static binary which is dynamically linked to libc?
11:22 notdan Btw darcs binaries seem to work fine on El Capitan
11:23 notdan Should we upload the OSX binary to darcs.net?

17:32 gh_ I just read that ZFS may arrive to debian and ubuntu next year. It has cool features like snapshots, see eg http://zef.me/6023/who-needs-git-when-you-got-zfs
17:42 dolio That title makes me think the author doesn't know much about version control.
17:43 gh_ it's a strech of course :)
17:43 Heffalump notdan: if you have a binary that works please do upload it (shout if you need help, e.g. to host the binary itself on darcs.net)
17:43 dolio Unless the point is that git is basically a thin veneer on top of the same thing, and you could build on top of zfs instead (and probably do better than git does today).
17:44 gh_ but well, I learned a couple of things about what made ZFS interesting
17:44 Heffalump lelit: yeah, I know :-( I don't know what happened there.
17:45 Heffalump notdan: not sure how easy a static binary that's dynamically linked to libc is, but the main reason to make a static binary is to be able to build it on a new Linux and run it on an old one, so I don't think it helps that much - it will help a bit with cross-distro incompatibilities though.
17:46 lelit Heffalump: thanks for taking care!
18:11 notdan Heffalump: yeah I have a binary already of darcs 2.10.1, it's on http://darcs.covariant.me/
18:11 notdan but I want to move it under darcs.net, to avoid problems like we have now with linux binaries
18:40 Heffalump notdan: you appear to already have an account on darcs.net, they should go in ~darcs-unstable/binaries/macosx AFAICT
18:42 notdan oh I do? I had no idea :D
18:42 notdan what is my username?
18:50 Heffalump dan
18:51 dolio What makes you think notdan is dan?
18:51 dolio :)
19:00 Heffalump the entry in /etc/passwd saying "dan:...:Daniil Frumin" :-p
