14:11 maerwald lelit: I already named facebook as a mercurial user, but that alone doesn't give any relevant traction for the opensource ecosystem to adopt it. And those are rather exceptions. Facebook switched from git to mercurial only for one reason: because it is easier to hack on than git and they needed very specific extensions.

15:18 lelit maerwald: right. I still think that calling it a failure is wrong, though. Yes, it's not as popular as git, but it demonstrated several things, from the speed you can squeeze out from an interpreted lang, to the advantage of being developed with usability in mind. Looking around for comparisons, it seems that the trend is rather stable, at least it does not suggest that people is abandoning it. That is what I'd call a failure.
15:19 maerwald a low bus factor is definitely a plus, but haskell projects tend to have a high bus factor in general ;)
