22:45 Heffalump fr33domlover: I had an initial go, it didn't go that well for me either :-(
22:45 Heffalump been a bit busy, so haven't had time to have another attepmt

23:19 dino- Is it possible to tag a repo that is behind another copy and then pull from that other copy and have the tag not be at the end of all records?
23:19 dino- Put another way, can I sneak a tag in before commits that came later. Because I kind of wish I had tagged earlier than now.
23:25 dino- huh, that did work. I tagged the older copy and then pulled and they're ordered properly.
23:27 dino- Ah, but when I pulled the other day, the tag is after all of the newer things. That's exactly what I didn't want.
23:27 dino- Oh well
23:27 dino- the other way, I mean
23:30 dino- And then when I performed obl --from-tag on that out-of-order repo, it removed the correct patches, but there was no way to see that would happen from the log output ahead of time. Because of the order.
23:30 dino- I wonder if I can see what patches the tag depends on
23:34 sm dino-: that should work.. tags depend only on what's in the repo when you tagged it, and generally sit nicely in the patch sequence as you'd expect
23:34 dino- sm: They actually got ordered differently when I pulled the other way after, into the repo with later patches..
23:34 dino- And an experimental obl did the right thing
23:35 dino- But you can't really see what that tag depends on in the log output.
23:36 dino- Luckily, none of this has been pushed to darcshub yet
23:36 sm yeah, if you pull it late it will appear late in the sequence, so you had re-pull a bit to see the right order. No, it's not easy to see exact patch dependencies. Maybe darcs obliterate -p thepatch --dry-run -a shows it
23:37 dino- But I can work around this. Using the smaller repo first, tag and then pull the later things. And then work from there and push to remote.
23:37 dino- thanks
23:37 sm np
23:39 Heffalump dino-: there's a tag --ask-about-deps flag or something like that
23:40 Heffalump I added it for tagging parts of a repo
23:41 dino- Heffalump: huh, I didn't know about that
23:42 dino- So if you said "no, no, no" and then "all" it would more or less insert the tag there before that last "no"
23:42 owst joined #darcs
23:44 dino- Ah, but it still stick it at the end of the log. Fair enough.
23:44 dino- Just tried a test of that --ask-deps. Thanks for letting me know about the switch!
23:47 dino- So I guess if really obsessive about the log order, can use a temp copy, obl, tag, pull the missing ones.
23:58 sm yes.. and I always do that, it's clearer
