18:09 teratorn Heffalump, dolio: so uh, does this pave the way perhaps for an 'unadd' operation? That is what I looked for before trying 'revert', and then being sufficiently tricked by the UI (the first line item confirmation was for an 'unadd' operation - which looked super safe and exactly what I wanted) so I hit 'a' - then confirmed the revert, and blew away my never-recorded files...
18:14 dolio I mean, 'unadd' is 'remove'. There could be an alias, like 'get' and 'clone'.
18:15 dolio Actually, unadd is already an alias.
18:16 teratorn whattt
18:16 dolio It's not listed in the help, though.
18:16 teratorn well ffs.
18:16 dolio Just like get isn't listed, only clone.
18:16 teratorn ugh.
18:16 teratorn please list everything. there is a reason the aliases exist because people look for them
18:17 teratorn on another day I might have just run 'darcs unadd' to check if it does a thing - on this day I just checked --help or the man page, I forget which. :/

19:41 Heffalump I guess the worry is cluttering the help
19:45 Heffalump I never knew about unadd, FWIW

20:20 teratorn Heffalump: yeah - well it's just one additional line in the help, basically. To document it as an alias. 'remove' is scarry-sounding, and does in fact remove working copy files in the case that you pull/apply a removal patch. Just not when you AUTHOR a removal patch. it's hard to understand intuatively (for me at least) that remove is the correct thing for un-adding files without whacking them.

21:36 pointfree taking a break from ssh-curve25519-sha256...
21:38 pointfree I've been thinking about darcsden-semantic-web instead this afternoon.
21:38 pointfree ...and the possibility of storing darcs repositories themselves in the triplestore.
21:41 pointfree That would give a lot of flexibility for things like feeds and save space because patches in common between forks could be shared in the triplestore (thinking of you, sm)
21:43 pointfree I don't know much about the darcs-1 format or the upcoming pijul format that may be supported some day.
21:47 pointfree SIOC (Semantically-Interlinked Online Communities) The perfect ontology for federating darcsden. http://rdfs.org/sioc/spec/
