15:37 ng0 hi, I'm currently packaging darcs for Guix. while I am almost done with it, the problem I have is https fetch. I read here (https://tahoe-lafs.org/trac/tahoe-lafs/ticket/1594#comment:5) that an environment variable is needed. this is my developers checkout where you can see which environment variable I want to pass (https://gitlab.com/packaging-guix/guix/commit/d14ce8f846a31b95d23fe349c2d7144ebaded086#e4de2fefc928dd6e9434e9a50863c9d53b2ffdf6_1252_1273). w

17:45 Heffalump ng0: I think your message got cut off at 'wh'
17:45 Heffalump pointfree: part of the problem with 'darcs annotate' on binaries is that every patch rewrites the entire binary, it doesn't use binary diffs at all
17:50 ng0 oh, thanks. that's the problem when you use ii.. I'll send it again in some minutes. thanks
18:02 ng0 I am currently packaging darcs for Guix, almost done now the problem at runtime is https fetch with darcs.
18:02 ng0 I read at https://tahoe-lafs.org/trac/tahoe-lafs/ticket/1594#comment:5 that an env variable is needed.
18:02 ng0 in my developers checkout of guix, https://gitlab.com/packaging-guix/guix/commit/d14ce8f846a31b95d23fe349c2d7144ebaded086#e4de2fefc928dd6e9434e9a50863c9d53b2ffdf6_1252_1273
18:02 ng0 yo ucan see that I set DARC_GET_HTTPS later, but it doesn't work.
18:02 ng0 where can i find the env variables in darcs source to see if it changed at some point in the laste years?

23:09 pointfree ng0: searching through "darcs log -v" in darcs-screened I see DARCS_GET_HTTP but no DARCS_GET_HTTPS
23:12 ng0 hm.. so how is https pull achieved then?
23:13 pointfree DARCS_GET_FOO or rather DARCS_GET_HTTPS is set to curl or something like that.
23:15 ng0 hm. I'll try that as soon as I get to work on darcs package again, see if it gets me what I want. thanks so far :)
23:16 pointfree http://darcs.net/manual/Configuring_darcs.html#SECTION00440070000000000000
23:17 pointfree It seems you must specify the program used to get the data over https, smb, or the protocol of your choice.
23:19 pointfree not sure what you're setting DARCS_GET_HTTPS to right now...
23:19 ng0 I assumed something like the situation with git and curl, where you have to set to a file/path containing the certs.
23:20 ng0 this looks much easier.

23:21 pointfree ah
23:25 ng0 http://git.savannah.gnu.org/cgit/guix.git/tree/gnu/packages/version-control.scm#n281 this is what needs to be done for git for example.
23:43 pointfree maybe you will need to give the certs path to curl in turn, or curl will know where it is by default.
23:51 ng0 curl is configured equally in guix, so it works. i have not tested this yet, but i'm positive what you wrote will help.
