00:07 sm jeltsch: yes, I'm agreeing with your suggestions basically
00:08 sm let's show markdown files as highlighted source, let's show directories with their READMEs rendered as non-github (vanilla pandoc) markdown
00:10 sm also let's add a few simple rendering tests
00:10 jeltsch sm: Yes, let’s go for this.
00:10 jeltsch Who is making the changes here?
00:11 sm you and pointfree :)
00:11 pointfree So, pandocExtensions not githubMarkdownExtensions?
00:11 jeltsch In the future, I might be able to supply patches, but at the moment, I probably do not have the time to first set up darcsden on my local machine, etc.
00:12 jeltsch pointfree: Pandoc extensions are things like bibliographic references and definition lists? Would be nice to have.
00:12 sm I will try to make sure darcsden builds easily with current stack(age). pointfree, did you already work on that ?
00:13 jeltsch sm: Oh no, then I also have to start using stack. :-O
00:13 jeltsch Is it also possible to build darcsden easily using cabal-install?
00:13 pointfree I already got it working with current stackage.
00:13 sm if it builds easily with stack, it'll likely build easily with cabal as well. It may do so already
00:13 sm pointfree: ok, feel free to submit that patch first
00:14 jeltsch sm: You mean the githubMarkdownExtensions → pandocExtensions patch?
00:14 sm no, the get it working with current stackage patch
00:14 jeltsch Okay.
00:15 sm because I'd like to build it too
00:20 jeltsch sm, pointfree: Okay, guys, I have to go to bed now, as it is already 2:20 AM in Estonia.
00:20 jeltsch Thanks for all your good work.
00:21 pointfree jelstch: goodnight/good morning
00:21 jeltsch :-)
00:21 sm you're welcome jeltsch. Thanks for the input!
00:22 sm 12.20 here in Ireland. I'm going to push a stack.yaml update soon unless pointfree does
00:22 pointfree sm: If you have it already you can do it.
00:23 sm ok, will do
00:24 sm did you have to use allow-newer: true ?
00:24 pointfree I should have tested darcsden to see if works as well as it builds, but I can't now because I'm making some other changes.
00:25 pointfree sm: I didn't, but do you think it would be a good idea?
00:26 pointfree sm: I just updated the bounds with stack init --resolver because I think darcsden.cabal is up-to-date with its bounds etc.
00:27 sm with lts-8.2 at least, it's needed until the ssh package supports RSA > 2.1.0

00:56 pointfree I made the changes to markdown rendering, but I'm having issues with couchdb on my end. I need to remove everything and reinstall the darcsden databases
01:08 sm issues here too
01:12 pointfree sm: If you're having the same couchdb issues be sure to "preserve the evidence" because I fixed it by uninstalling couchdb and deleting /usr/lib/couchdb then reinstalling couchdb. I won't be able to reproduce it again.
01:13 sm not couchdb issues
01:17 sm we could use a ssh release or hackage revision allowing RSA 2.2.0, it seems to build at least
01:18 sm darcsden now builds with lts-8.2
01:19 pointfree unwanted line breaks and <BR /> is now gone from jeltsch's repo.
01:19 sm nice
01:19 sm I expect some pushback about not html-rendering markdown files eventually, it is a useful feature for some situations. We'll see
01:19 pointfree (the rendering of)
01:20 pointfree We could keep that extension.
01:20 pointfree I made a "darcsdenMarkdownExtensions"
01:20 pointfree We can put what we want in there.
01:22 pointfree Does pandoc have a @username mentions extension? If not (and it looks like not) then I can look into writing one to inline into darcsden.
01:24 sm no it doesn't
01:24 pointfree I think it could be hooked in with the darcsden issue closing on push feature and the issue email notifications without much additional code or trouble.
01:25 pointfree sm: When your stack.yaml is ready I can pull it and then I can push my markdown extension change for you to look at.
01:25 sm it's pushed, please go ahead
01:30 sm new builds of darcsden[-ssh] deployed
01:32 sm wow you have a lot of darcsden branches
01:33 sm 22
01:34 sm that's how you outrank thielema I see :)
01:35 pointfree hahas
01:35 pointfree I have a lot of private repos too... unreleased projects.
01:36 sm going to bed shortly
01:36 pointfree I had to update GHC. I'm now rebuilding darcsden with the markdown changes and new GHC...
01:37 sm ah.. haskellers are always waiting..
01:38 sm do you think it'll be more than 5m ?
01:38 pointfree No, almost there.
01:40 pointfree The suspense of the progressbar.
01:48 pointfree I don't know whether its been 5m already. Progress: 130/181
01:48 sm 10m
01:49 pointfree Feel free to get some sleep now.
01:49 sm I'll look at it tomorrow. Thank you! and good night
01:49 pointfree I'll do the @username mentions extension in the mean time. Goodnight, sm!

09:44 sm g'day all
09:44 sm pointfree: http://hub.darcs.net/simon/darcsden/annotate/src/DarcsDen/Util.hs still broken here
09:47 sm pointfree: thanks for http://hub.darcs.net/pointfree/darcsden-markdown-ext/patch/2ab04d43df8fc3be0c0eec26a08638c65d6f3d58 , ready for some code review ?
09:48 sm the link to chat log is nice, let's also describe the changes more clearly directly in the commit message
09:50 sm which is not so easy, let me try
09:50 sm 1. reverts unintended smart quote conversion (are we sure that's what readerSmart does ? I'd test it in a readme somewhere)
09:51 sm 2. reverts unintended readerParseRaw enabling (instead, describe the effect of this)
09:54 sm 3. replaces github markdown extensions, enabled a year ago, with a darcsden-specific set of extensions (which differ from standard pandoc markdown how ?)
10:00 sm so re that last question, is it feasible to just set the individual extensions that differ from pandoc's default, rather than maintaining the full darcsdenMarkdownExtensions list, which is less informative and more work to sync when pandoc's defaults change ?
10:00 sm done
10:02 sm ha one more thing.. I might consider splitting 1/2 and 3 into separate commits, easier to write a short clear commit message

12:11 jeltsch sm, pointfree: Are there any news regarding these Markdown issues?
12:12 jeltsch (Don’t wanna push you; just asking.)
12:15 sm jeltsch: not deployed yet, but WIP, the channel log has more
12:16 jeltsch sm: Great! Thanks for working on this.
12:17 sm darcsden is now as easy to build as it has ever been, thanks Heffalump
