10:05 sm g'day all
10:06 sm anybody interested in improving darcs hub docs, I've renamed the http://hub.darcs.net/simon/darcshub-docs repo and linked it on the front page
10:06 sm pointfree: do you think you'll have any time soon to revisit markdown rendering ?
10:07 sm if not, I'll look at it

13:55 ThomasLocke darcs bash auto completion seems to be somewhat lackluster (using the one from darcs-screened/contrib). Anybody know of a more complete one?
14:12 sm hi there ThomasLocke.. we emailed earlier
14:12 sm that'll be the best one
14:23 ThomasLocke OK. It seems to be based on the output of "darcs --commands", which in my version hardly prints anything, so probably a patch to darcs is necessary for this to function properly?
14:24 ThomasLocke Unless my darcs is acting up.
14:24 ThomasLocke I just installed it using stack, so I'm guessing it's fine.

14:26 ThomasLocke btw sm cloning darcs-screened took forever. It seemed to fetch patches very slowly. Is this a bandwidth limiting thing on hub.darcs.net, or does darcs just not fetch patches very quickly? I understand I can use --lazy, but I'm just wondering.
14:27 sm ThomasLocke: how long did it take ? It is quite slow generally IIRC
14:28 sm I think it can be faster if "pack files" are updated, and it might be darcs hub needs to do that. That would require someone to test it
14:29 sm darcs --commands prints a lot of commands here. darcs --version: 2.12.0 (release)

14:30 sm you might have an old darcs in your $PATH. stack installs binaries to ~/.local/bin
14:30 ThomasLocke I can try cloning it again, and timing it this time. I just noticed that patched came down the pipe really slowly.
14:31 ThomasLocke Yea, cleaned up my PATH, fixed the problem with bash completion. All is well. Thanks.
14:31 sm it'll be faster now, unless you remove or disable darcs's patch caching
15:03 ThomasLocke How do I tell darcs to add a directory, but not the content of the directory?
15:03 ThomasLocke I suspect I need to do something with the boring file?
15:12 sm it seems to do that by default
15:12 sm darcs add
15:15 ThomasLocke Yea, but that doesn't ignore the content of those directories
15:16 ThomasLocke I see now how my question was rather poorly formulated.
15:16 ThomasLocke I have a bunch of bin directories that I would like to add, but I want to ignore whatever is in them.
15:16 ThomasLocke Does that make sense sm?
15:22 sm ThomasLocke: yup, but --help and my quick testing just now says darcs add somedir does that by default
15:22 sm darcs add bin; darcs whatsnew -s
15:23 ThomasLocke but the files in bin/ keep popping up with wh -l
15:24 sm well, -l looks for additional files to add
15:24 sm -s shows what you have added
15:25 ThomasLocke Yes - I want to get rid of the files when using -l.
15:25 ThomasLocke is this not what boring is for?
15:25 sm sure
15:26 sm I must be misunderstanding, ignore me
15:26 ThomasLocke Hehe... :D
15:29 ThomasLocke It seems I have to add the names of the files I want to ignore in the bin/ directories. bin/* does not work, but bin/foo works
15:30 ThomasLocke I guess my regex foo is too weak
15:35 ThomasLocke bin/.*
15:35 sm ignore files' syntax is always horribly complex, be sure you have an authoritative doc
15:35 ThomasLocke seems to do the trick. As usual the solution was simple and I was just bumbling around like a fool

19:13 sm @tell jeltsch darcs hub now renders markdown with standard pandoc extensions plus auto-linking of bare URIs (cc pointfree)
19:13 lambdabot Consider it noted.
