16:58 pointfree sm: So, I'm thinking about how we might want the couchdb views to sort the news feed items...
16:59 pointfree http://stackoverflow.com/a/41959344/44016
17:00 pointfree by record date or by push date?
17:04 pointfree I don't think users' would want the entire history of darcs-screened filling up the feed when somebody forks darcs-screened.
17:06 pointfree So maybe a view sorted/filtered by: subscriber > record_date > push_date
17:06 pointfree (in that order)
17:08 pointfree I'm leaning towards having a choice of views similar to the ones on the issues page for sorting and filtering news feed items.
17:08 pointfree A lot of UI complexity can be collapsed into the news feed.
17:11 pointfree For instance, I suppose there could be a couchdb view to show only repo init's of repos the user has access to. This could replace the user repo list page.
17:43 sm not sure pointfree
17:58 qmm what is darcs-screened?
17:59 sm the development branch of darcs
17:59 qmm thanks
18:03 Heffalump we operate a two-stage process for code review, patches first get put in "screened" after a quick sanity check, then in a lagging branch "reviewed" once they've been looked at properly, or if noone reviews them for a while.

20:25 pointfree sm: I could have that couchdb view sorted by push-date, but have identical patches share the same news feed items between repos, and then retroactively generate the news feeds from a script upon deployment of the news feed.
20:26 pointfree (That would also save a lot of space)
20:31 sm I'd get a demo working, to get a feel for what's useful and doable
