11:00 mihgen nurla: what's up with smoke test?
11:01 mattymo mihgen, bookwar shouldn't we make fuel-dev an open team so anyone can join without approval?
11:01 mihgen evgeniyl: actually it looks like smoke failed because of diagsnapshot

11:30 ivan-borisov Looks like Miroslav is busy. Guys, anyone can point me out where should I look for puppet manifests which will allow me to install additional packages? Those packages should be installed on base system as early as possible.
11:35 dilyin You can add them into the list of packages being installed by anaconda during the provisioning process

13:02 ivan-borisov So, I realized that for now I have nothing to do with puppet, as I'd like packages to be installed during provisioning. I prefer ubuntu, so I  looked into puppet/cobbler/templates/preseed/ubuntu-1204.preseed.erb and found reference to puppet/cobbler/templates/snippets/ubuntu_packages.erb. As I understand, all I have to do is to add my packages to ubuntu_packages.erb and they'll be installed during provisioning. Right?
13:08 mattymo ivan-borisov, if it's a package that should be installed no matter what your deployment mode is, yes you can include it there
13:08 mattymo but if you want puppet to manage its version, it belongs in a puppet manifest
13:08 dburmistrov_ joined #fuel-dev
13:12 ivan-borisov @mattymo, I'm ok with package version, which I use, but just curious, what exact manifest files shall I use in case I want puppet to manage package versions?
13:14 mattymo ivan-borisov, that's really up to you. we don't have a puppet with random package installs. each one fits into a category
13:15 mattymo puppet module*
13:15 mattymo the definition for adding a package via puppet is http://docs.puppetlabs.com/references/latest/type.html#package
13:16 mihgen holser: I was able to install master node
13:16 mihgen holser: what was the issue you experienced?
13:17 mihgen holser: I used default settings, ran under virtualbox
13:17 holser It was not bootstapped
13:17 mihgen I downloaded your snapshot, didn't see errors in puppet run on your master node;
13:17 holser I use sh "utils/jenkins/system_tests.sh" -t test -w $(pwd) -j "fuelweb_test" -i "$ISO_PATH" -o --group=$MY_GROUP script
13:17 holser but I ran it manually
13:17 holser that’s the case
13:17 holser I took another ISO and checking it right now
13:18 holser give me 1 minute
13:18 holser okey 5-10 minutes
13:18 ivan-borisov @mattymo, oh, I see.  So, you have no templates or dummys for this #)
13:19 holser another ISO worked fine
13:19 holser I see it’s bootstrapping
13:19 holser dunno why it failed
13:20 mattymo holser, the bootstrap puppet log looked like you ran host-only.pp instead of site.pp
13:20 holser yeah
13:20 mattymo (as if you had a docker env)
13:21 holser mattymo: I’ll close the issue as on another ISO I works fine
13:21 mattymo good
13:21 holser mattymo: I guess I took ISO with Docker containers
13:22 mihgen holser: iso #128 bootstraps master node fine
13:22 mihgen holser: it's still unclear why smoke failed
13:23 mihgen nurla: can you parse CI output to understand what failed there? see ^^
13:23 holser I am testing 121 which is passed smoke test
13:23 mihgen nurla: http://jenkins-product.srt.mirantis.net:8080/view/Product%20and%20Community/job/fuel_main_iso_smoke/805/

13:23 mattymo we don't use keepalived but we have the manifest in fuel still
13:23 mihgen nurla: I'm running same ISO manually now and will be able to report result soon on how it works on my laptop
13:24 aglarendil python team guys
13:24 aglarendil we have a rather important bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1306491
13:24 aglarendil who's gonna look into it?
13:25 MiroslavAnashkin ivan-borisov: However, if you are going to install necessary driver - preseed is preferable way.
13:25 nurla mihgen:  smoke shows that it can't collect  diagnostic report
13:27 ivan-borisov @mattymo, understood, thanks.
13:28 mihgen nurla: is it the only reason of failure there?
13:28 mihgen according to aglarendil, smoke even doesn't run diag snapshot, if all tests went fine
13:30 ivan-borisov MiroslavAnashkin, hello. Drivers themselves are mellanox kernel modules, which has been included in mainline since 2.6.xx revisions. So, please correct me if I'm wrong - the sequence for my test modification is following:
13:31 ivan-borisov 1. Modify ubuntu initrd image to load modules at boot
13:31 warpc_ https://review.openstack.org/#/c/89823/ - fix for log dump
13:31 ivan-borisov 2. Update local repository as you described yesterday.
13:32 ivan-borisov 3. Add packages to preseed.
13:32 ivan-borisov And that's all?
13:40 MiroslavAnashkin ivan-borisov: For network drivers - yes, it should be enough. For OpenStack - not sure, we may have some hard-coded to "ethXXX" NIC name checks in Puppet manifests.
13:41 mihgen aglarendil: please take a look at important fix for diag snapshot: https://review.openstack.org/#/c/89823/

14:58 rksvy Hi,
14:58 rksvy I am completely new to openstack and fuel and wanted to compile fuel on mmy x86.
14:58 rksvy I cloned the repo https://github.com/stackforge/fuel-library.git
14:58 rksvy Is there a doc/readme which has build instructions for it ?
14:59 rksvy I want to then try the same for powerpc..
14:59 MiroslavAnashkin x86 is bad idea. We do not have x86 OS distributions in our repos, only x64
14:59 bookwar rksvy: you can start from here http://docs.mirantis.com/fuel-dev/develop/env.html#building-the-fuel-iso
15:00 rksvy bookwar: thanks .. lemme check that link out.. thanks again for your help
15:00 MiroslavAnashkin I mean we do not have x86 versions of OpenStack and dependent packages, customized by Mirantis.
15:02 IlyaE joined #fuel-dev
15:04 rksvy bookwar: I went through the link of how to build the iso.. It appears the requirement is ubuntu and a bunch of packages
15:05 rksvy bookwar: Is there a reason I won't be able to build it for ubuntu on a 32bit platform ?
15:05 bookwar rksvy: ubuntu is not really the requirement, just the typical system we use for building iso
15:06 bookwar rksvy: thus you can try and adapt the building process for any other distro
15:06 Tatyanka_Leontov Guys I have a question, should crm cleans  it resource after vip fail-over and success recovery ?
15:07 bookwar rksvy: the important thing is that the fuel.iso we build is based on 64bit centos
15:13 EeeBotu New bug #1311722 in fuel: "[system_tests] Need to fix test ha_delete_vips" [Undecided, New] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1311722
15:15 rksvy bookwar: Is there a reason you or anyone knows if the adaptation will outright fail when I try to adapt the process to centos
15:18 bookwar rksvy: currently there is a known issue with multistrap on ubuntu 14.04
15:19 bookwar and about centos let's ask mattymo
15:19 EeeBotu New bug #1311729 in fuel: "set %{?dist} rpm macros for fuel packages" [Medium, New] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1311729
15:19 bookwar mattymo: have you tried to build iso on centos?
15:20 mattymo bookwar, same issue
15:21 mattymo there issues with yumdownloader and with our chroot/sandbox scripts for making packages
15:21 mattymo I would need a few days to fix, but I just can't spare time for that

15:41 rksvy I will try it .. but I can have a Virtual machine on my laptop and try it out
15:41 holser_ joined #fuel-dev
15:41 rksvy But what I really need to do is get it done for a 32b powerpc and was trying to gauge if there are any major show stoppers.
15:42 rksvy It does not look apparent from the package requirement etc.. I can have centos or ubuntu on my 32b powerpc machine.. that is not a prob
15:45 rksvy mattymo, bookwar: what is the path of least resistant to use to build this on the 32b powerpc ? Centos or ubuntu ?
15:45 rksvy And that link is still good right ? http://docs.mirantis.com/fuel-dev/develop/env.html#building-the-fuel-iso
15:47 bookwar rksvy: the problem is: to build fuel iso you'll need packages. and we build packages only for x86_64
15:48 rksvy If those packages are open source and in C, could I build them for my platform ?
15:48 bookwar rksvy: thus you'll need to rebuild all of the packages from here http://fuel-repository.mirantis.com/fwm/5.0/  for your architecture
15:49 rksvy Cool..
15:49 bookwar yes, you can, it's just there are a lot of them
15:50 rksvy I can do that, i just need the steps and if there are wikis I could do it .. and this channel is really helpful
15:50 rksvy BTW.. My linux kernel is 3.11 .. is there some dependency on that version .. ?
15:53 mattymo you can build on any kernel 2.6 and higher
15:54 mattymo but we don't have any packages for any platform besides x86_64
15:54 vk guys, I've noticed that some time ago cluster default mode became HA. is this normal?
15:54 rksvy thanks mattymo, bookwar
15:55 mattymo but the best platform for making your own iso is definitely ubuntu 12.04.4
15:55 mattymo there are a massive number of issues building in centos 6.5 or fedora 20
15:55 rksvy mattymo, I have ubuntu 13.04 on my platform and that is totally great!! I will stick to that and use the link as guidance
15:56 ikalnitsky vk: afaik, yes. it's because ha is most used mode in production
15:56 mattymo 13.04 will have many issues with the multistrap stage
15:57 rksvy I am not sure what is multistrap just yet .. any pointers to what it is ? Also, do you mean ubuntu 12.X will be better.. that is doable also .. I can switch to ubuntu12.x

16:55 bookwar why we use third-party ppa for nodejs?
16:55 bookwar here http://docs.mirantis.com/fuel-dev/develop/env.html#setup-for-web-ui-tests
16:59 bookwar i mean on Ubuntu 14.04 it is already nodejs-0.10 in repos, thus i don't need this ppa anymore, right?
16:59 bookwar vk: ^^

19:45 mihgen xarses: slow deployment - looks like duplicate of your bug created previously: https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1310549
19:49 xarses mihgen: it looks like most of the perf issues where due to the wait code in neutron ruby code that wait for keystone, but keystone never worked right
19:50 mihgen xarses: hmm so what's your experience now regarding deployment time?
19:50 mihgen same as before or became even worse?
19:50 xarses I've only gotten one done since, but it was back to around normal. Longer than I'd like but still within the variation that we see
19:51 mihgen xarses: ok. because I was told there were some fixes about it
19:51 mihgen xarses: we would need to get a day to profile it..
