07:56 dnikishov hello, yesterday I've ran into an issue with a custom built ISO where certain api services didn't process requests sometimes
07:56 dnikishov but I've been able to reproduce it on the freshly built ISO from github master
07:58 mihgen dnikishov: hi, was it in HA mode? what exactly do you mean by "didn't process"?
07:58 dnikishov has anyone noticed something like that before? I think it might be the problem with our lab, but a confirmation would be appreciated
07:59 dnikishov mihgen: I'm trying to deploy a simple Ubuntu/HA/VLAN environment w/ 3 controllers and 1 compute
07:59 mihgen well we run auto-tests which run HealthCheck, and I'm not aware of anything like that
07:59 dnikishov once puppet finishes successfully, astute fails to upload an image to glance
08:00 mihgen okey, but do you succeed uploading it manually?
08:00 dnikishov and glance api servers most of the time just don't respond to http requests
08:01 dnikishov that's the thing, when glance image-list succeedes, the image is there
08:01 mihgen but glance image-list runs for 2 min before it gives you response?
08:02 dnikishov not really, sometimes it just hangs up until haproxy returns gateway timeout and sometimes it runs normally
08:03 mihgen aglarendil: do you remember your fix in keystone related to memcached?
08:03 dnikishov oh, and by the way, these 'failed' responses are not being logged by glance-api
08:03 mihgen aglarendil: any chance that it was lost somehow..  ?
08:04 mihgen dnikishov: can you run it with --debug and see whether it hangs on keystone request or glance itself
08:05 Longgeek joined #fuel-dev
08:05 dnikishov mihgen: already did that, it hangs on glance
08:06 Longgeek joined #fuel-dev
08:07 mihgen dnikishov: we need to get someone to take a look… could be aglarendil or holser or someone else
08:11 aglarendil dnikishov: it looks like a keystone issue
08:11 aglarendil please create a bug and upload all versioning info
08:11 mihgen aglarendil: if we can get someone to take a look on env while it's running, that would be excellent I think
08:12 mihgen aglarendil: my guess is that we lost your patch ..
08:12 mihgen or a fix for holser caused degradation

09:24 mihgen issue on nailgun/ui side is that it works in flatdhcp exactly like it in vlan mode, while it should not: in flatdhcp we create just one network,
09:25 mihgen sambork: there is some work was done on troubleshooting in puppet on related issue by sbog, so I believe you would need to get from sbog what data puppet expects

11:10 tsufiev http://paste2.org/B9D3YPf3 - this occurs when specifying OPENSTACK_HOST = '172.16.0.2' (ip of controller node in internal subnet)
11:11 tsufiev dashboard on host machine doesn't function properly, while dashboard on controller node works fine

I can not see it in the commit that add this requirement (c8b66077) and I guess that was before a stable casparjs release.  I was able to run the test succesfully with a simple npm install casperjs.  I will be happy to provide a patch.

16:37 iosstef hello! we have developed an SDN solution that integrates with Openstack using a neutron plugin and we want to use fuel to install openstack and our solution. The question is how do we update fuel to support our product? Is there a place we can look to find this kind of information?
16:39 christopheraedo iosstef: the fuel development docs (http://docs.mirantis.com/fuel-dev/) would be the right place to start. There are some examples that would be relevant as well.
16:39 christopheraedo iosstef: (examples in the docs I meant to say)
16:41 christopheraedo iosstef: and for getting started with contributing, Fuel page on OpenStack wiki should have what you need: https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Fuel#Join_Fuel_team
16:41 iosstef yes, I looked through the development docs, but I still don't have a clear picture on how does the data travel from the web ui through the puppet modules
16:43 xarses iosstef: nailgun will run through the deployment serializers https://github.com/stackforge/fuel-web/blob/master/nailgun/nailgun/orchestrator/deployment_serializers.py
16:44 xarses this data is generated and set to astute
16:45 xarses astute will run a task that will rsync the puppet folder; create the ssh keys; convert the data from nailgun to /etc/astute.yaml ; and start puppet
16:46 EeeBotu New bug #1352931 in fuel: "Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet" [Medium, Confirmed] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1352931
16:46 e0ne joined #fuel-dev
16:46 xarses puppet is entered from /etc/puppet/manifests/site.pp which is /etc/puppet/modules/osnailfacter/examples/site.pp (from memory may have typos)
16:47 xarses puppet will parse astute.yaml and store as $::fuel_settings
16:49 xarses also of note, this is the workflow for the deployment task, there is a separate provision task to install the os
16:49 xarses iosstef: christopheraedo ^
16:50 iosstef ok, so first of all I need to create an object serializer. The fields defined in that serializer will be translated to $::fuel_settings::<field_name> by puppet?

16:56 xarses iosstef: yes, look at what was done for NSX or Mellanox (links in a sec).
16:57 xarses Also, unless you are looking to intergrate, there are some items that you can write into custom deployment yaml that control some of the ml2 settings. Although it might not be enough to configure for you
16:58 xarses ml2 config docs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1348821

17:10 akupko Hi Guys. What build of updates tarball can be used in order to look how "patching" feature works on Ubuntu deployment? Can you please refer to any that successfully passed Fuel master and OPenStack upgrade?
17:11 akupko it does not matter if any of openstack services won't work after patching. I just want to look on patching process on practice
17:12 agrebennikov_ joined #fuel-dev
17:12 agrebennikov_ guys, could you explain the next:
17:13 agrebennikov_ in /etc/astute.yaml on the nodes there is a "rabbit" section which includes password only
17:13 agrebennikov_ but in the cluster_ha manifest:
17:13 agrebennikov_ amqp_user                     => $::osnailyfacter::cluster_ha::rabbit_hash['user']
17:14 agrebennikov_ what would be put into that variable then?
17:20 angdraug joined #fuel-dev
17:23 mihgen akupko: agrebennikov_ hey folks, I believe Europe went home and PST is still waking up )
17:23 agrebennikov_ do you think so?
17:24 mihgen akupko: there was regression just over last two days, so there is no working tarball for upgrades I believe. We should get mattymo to answer that
17:24 mihgen But I'll try to get a tarball which worked before for you
17:25 mihgen agrebennikov_: could be just only default user is used
17:25 mihgen agrebennikov_: not sure. I think in PST you can ask angdraug or xarses, who are sitting next to you ;)
17:26 AlexF joined #fuel-dev
17:26 angdraug mihgen: he's in Minnesota right now afaik
17:26 agrebennikov_ right, unfortunately I'm on the customer at the moment, and sometimes guys may want kill me because of the number of my questions ;)
17:27 mihgen akupko: anyway you can download latest tarball from https://fuel-jenkins.mirantis.com/view/ISO/job/publish_fuel_community_iso/, and follow this doc to run it: http://docs.mirantis.com/fuel/master/user-guide.html#upgrade-from-an-earlier-version
17:27 mihgen agrebennikov_: sorry but MSK timezone is over for today )
17:28 agrebennikov_ bad..
17:28 agrebennikov_ bcos I guess I'll have to attract a couple of our devs in the next few days
17:28 angdraug looks like it's always been that way, I checked past diagnostic snapshots and astute.yaml never had user field in the rabbit hash
17:29 agrebennikov_ angdraug, how does it assign the var in this case?
17:29 agrebennikov_ bcos controller_ha class doesn't have the default value for amqp_user
17:29 angdraug afair it's hardcoded somewhere in the manifests
17:29 angdraug per component
17:30 agrebennikov_ angdraug, right, starting from openstack::nova::controller
17:30 tzn joined #fuel-dev
17:31 agrebennikov_ angdraug, actually I'm just intersted how it can compile the parent class in this case
17:32 agrebennikov_ mihgen, why don't you finish btw ;)
17:32 agrebennikov_ mihgen, another question - do we have expertise in Manila?
17:36 xarses agrebennikov_: rabbit user is ALLWAYS nova
17:36 xarses except for murano
17:36 xarses which has it's own rabbit
17:37 agrebennikov_ xarses, same with heat I guess
17:38 xarses often we don't set rabbit username because we just use the default
17:39 agrebennikov_ but anyway, I mean if I even specify the default value somewhere in the 3-level class and do not specify it in the present one - do you mean puppet should pass it?
17:40 agrebennikov_ since when I call openstack::controller_ha class, noone actually know anything what have to be used as amqp_user var
17:50 mattymo mihgen, working tarball should be available now
17:50 mattymo because osci reverted docker-io to the 5.0 release version
