08:33 dancn Hello, any pointer to a CI for plugins for the 6.1 release?  I see only https://ci.fuel-infra.org/job/verify-fuel-plugins/ that does not seem to perform the install on a deployed cluster.  I think that the plugin tasks are broken in 6.1!
08:36 dancn I used last build of fuel_plugin_example-2.0-2.0.2-1.noarch.rpm on fuel-community-6.1-267-2015-06-10_05-40-59 and there is no file at /tmp/plugin.all on the base-os node shown as ready in the web interface.
08:37 pasquier-s dancn, please have a look at https://github.com/stackforge/fuel-qa/tree/master/fuelweb_test/tests/plugins
08:38 pasquier-s it contains some test scenarios for existing plugins
08:39 dancn pasquier-s: nice! tnx! do those test run on some CI?
08:39 pasquier-s there are also some information on https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Fuel/Plugins#CI
08:39 pasquier-s dancn, they only run on some internal CI system for now...
08:40 dancn pasquier-s: you or somebody that can see the internal CI can confirm that the example plugin or any pluging works with 6.1?
08:41 pasquier-s dancn, let me check
08:41 dancn pasquier-s: ok, thanks in advance!

09:05 pasquier-s dancn, I see that internal CI jobs on plugins are passing but 1/ these aren't based on the community ISO and 2/ there is no job for the example plugin
09:10 pasquier-s dancn, I think that we should definitely run fuel-qa scenarios in the community CI. Could you file a bug about it?
09:10 bookwar joined #fuel-dev
09:11 dancn pasquier-s: thanks. I will file a bug on fuel-qa and community!
09:11 dancn pasquier-s: On my side the deploy is complete ad I do not see any /tmp/plugin* file on any host.  Any Idea on how to debug?  The wiki page say: All plugin deployment scripts are copied to the separate directory on the target node; in this case, it is /etc/fuel/plugins/fuel_plugin_name-1.0.0/ but there is no /etc/fuel on the base-os node!
09:11 pasquier-s oh, this is weird
09:12 bookwar pasquier-s: there is fuel_plugins system test, it tests example plugin afaik
09:12 pasquier-s bookwar, good to know, where is it located?
09:13 pasquier-s dancn, can you have a look at /etc/astute.yaml and see if you find mention of the example plugin there?
09:13 dancn pasquier-s: on which host?
09:14 pasquier-s your base-os node
09:15 bookwar pasquier-s: 6.1_swarm/job/6.1.system_test.ubuntu.fuel_plugins/ for details about the testgroup check stackforge/fuel-qa repository
09:16 bookwar Just grep it for 'fuel_plugins'
09:17 dancn pasquier-s: oh, weird: it is there but is seems that is disabled!  I do not saw instrucions about enbling/disabling plugins...
09:20 pasquier-s dancn, you need to enable the plugin in the Settings tab of your environment, can you check this?
09:20 dancn pasquier-s: well there are instructions, but not displayed in a prominent way!  Also is quite easy to miss the checkbox on the title of the plugin in the fuel ui.
09:20 pasquier-s bookwar, thanks I didn't look at the good CI server ;-)
09:21 bookwar This one is more like 'ugly' :)
09:21 dancn pasquier-s: thanks, will retry the deploy with the plugin enabled!
09:25 pasquier-s dancn, I agree, you can have a look & comment on this spec which should improve the support of the plugins in the Fuel UI => https://review.openstack.org/#/c/180181/
09:26 pasquier-s dancn, note that it doesn't address the plugin configuration though
09:27 pasquier-s it's more about providing useful information to the user after the plugins have deployed
09:35 alex_bh joined #fuel-dev
09:35 dancn pasquier-s: sure! Just looked at.  Agree is more about general info.  For the current UI should not be to difficult to add some prominent graphics for enabling the plugin.  I did check that the plugin was there in the settings, but since I do not need to change the defaults I missed the "grey shadow" on the Text Field.  Maybe a shade of gray on all the plugin box or showing the title of the plugin in gray instead of black will be more
09:35 dancn prominent.  Anyway seems to be a corner case.  Any reasonable plugin should contain some custom field to be edited and the user should figure out that to change the defaults the plugins need to be enabled first.

10:07 dancn pasquier-s: sorry for bugging you again... I have taken a lot of inspiration (cut and paste :-)) from your plugins.  Maybe do you know a workaround to change the user_node_name from cli or using some tricks to automate the tests for plugins that use this workaround?  A first search does not led me to any useful result.
10:10 pasquier-s dancn, I don't know, sorry...
10:10 pasquier-s dancn, we've developed some tests in fuel-qa and honestly it works pretty well
10:12 dancn pasquier-s: no problem.  I saw that your test infra is quite complex!  I just want to automate the install and check of the plugin using a simple shell script for staring.  Will try to figure out by myself! Thanks again for your assistance today!
10:13 pasquier-s dancn, I would recommend you give fuel-qa a try, it's not complex to deploy at all
10:13 pasquier-s dancn, in fact we're running it on our dev laptops
10:14 pasquier-s dancn, have a look at this page for the installation => http://docs.fuel-infra.org/fuel-dev/devops.html
10:14 pasquier-s and do not hesitate to ping me if you've got questions :-)
10:15 dancn pasquier-s: Thanks, nice to know.  Do you run kvm and virtualbox on the same laptop with no issue?
10:16 pasquier-s dancn, only kvm, I'm pretty sure that you cannot run both at the same time
10:20 dancn pasquier-s: I checked few months ago, and I also got the same impression.  In fact IIRC I tried the devops with nested virtualization with KVM but in the end settled for the virtualbox script that were enough for my tests.  I will give another try to the devops.  I guess it will need quite a few GB on my laptop!

14:25 dancn Hello, just deployed the example plugin and have this error: 2015-06-10T14:21:17 err: [568] Unexpected error Failed to execute hook 'fuel_plugin_example-2.0.2' Reboot command failed for nodes ["3", "4"]. Check debug output for details.  Do you think that is worth a bug report?  I do not remember is reboot supported in 6.1...
14:27 mwhahaha reboot should be supported
14:35 amalinow joined #fuel-dev
14:38 dancn mwhahaha: thanks, I will fill a bug!
14:39 mwhahaha i think we test a reboot plugin as part of our tests, so you might want to include your source for the plugin example
14:40 dancn mwhahaha: the source is the build #92 of mirantis CI of the example plugin! you should be able to get it!
14:40 mwhahaha ok just include that in the bug report

14:57 dancn mwhahaha: ok, it will be a little messy because I run other test, but I can add it
14:58 mwhahaha It's ok, it just helps in quickly being able to try and troubleshoot.
15:03 dancn mwhahaha: added!

15:45 dancn Hello, got most of my plugin working... I miss the filter_nodes function.  How to get it? I guess by adding something like “puppet_modules:  "puppet/modules/:/etc/puppet/modules/"” into tasks.yaml, could you confirm?
15:52 pasquier-s dancn, yep or better download the openstack Puppet module from your pre_build_hook script
15:52 pasquier-s dancn, see https://github.com/stackforge/fuel-plugin-lma-collector/blob/master/pre_build_hook#L65

15:53 evgeniyl___ dancn: there is info about that in the documentation https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Fuel/Plugins#FAQ "How can I reuse Puppet modules from Fuel"
15:56 dancn pasquier-s, evgeniyl___ thanks!  I did not even know where the filter_nodes comes from... I just found that other plugins include all the modules...
