09:40 ddepaoli Hi. I'm going to restart working on a patch that I started months ago. Some test failed, but the output is not avaible. How can I reforce the test? With 'recheck' in comments only puppet-lint test was executed

18:30 zigo xarses: here is better.
18:30 zigo xarses: I was writting: didn't we move to Mitaka already?
18:30 xarses yes, why?
18:31 zigo xarses: Because you're writing:
18:31 zigo -        fuel rel --sync-deployment-tasks --dir /etc/puppet/2014.2-6.0/
18:31 zigo +        fuel rel --sync-deployment-tasks --dir /etc/puppet/liberty-9.0/
18:31 zigo This seems odd to me.
18:32 xarses yes, this is example output
18:32 zigo xarses: Oh, indeed! :P
18:32 xarses from the help for the command
18:33 * zigo will learn to read patches more accurately some day...
18:33 xarses when I wrote it, it was still liberty-9.0
18:33 xarses it made no sense to keep it on the old year.release scheme though since it doesn't look that way anymore
18:34 zigo xarses: I've just tried to modify the "nailgun/fixtures/openstack.yaml" to add Debian in the mix, but now, this fucks-up the UI Javascript... :(
18:34 zigo xarses: Any idea why?
18:34 xarses you have a patch to look at?
18:35 zigo xarses: http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/openstack/fuel-web.git/tree/debian/debian.yaml
18:35 zigo Not really a patch, I'm just using my own debian.yaml instead of the general openstack.yaml, because I don't want to even read the word "Ubuntu" ! :)
18:35 zigo Plus path and such are a bit fixed on what I did.
18:36 zigo So it wont work to just patch...
18:36 zigo If I patch it upstream, it's going to break the current CentOS ISO release.
18:36 xarses ok, let me send you an example of haking in a new release
18:36 xarses you might have gone overboard initially
18:38 zigo What do you mean?
18:38 xarses you did too much at once
18:38 zigo :)
18:38 xarses the UI is... fragile to some changes
18:38 zigo There's no way I'm gona use archive.ubuntu.com, it's too slow from here, and I would like to use my own packages anyway.
18:38 zigo I've noticed it's very fragile indeed. :/
18:39 xarses lets start first with just changing the packages and release title
18:39 zigo Well, mostly, I need to fix the repository and package names.
18:39 zigo See the end of the file ...
18:39 zigo I only changed what's in - pk: 1
18:39 xarses we might not be able to change the operating system keyword because it might be a constant in the UI/db
18:40 zigo !!!
18:40 zigo Gosh...
18:40 zigo Probably that's it then.
18:40 zigo Let me try that then.
18:41 xarses ya, some times we have weird choices on what is 'hard' coded
18:44 zigo xarses: This is it, it worked !!!
18:44 zigo Whaaaaaa, how could I guess that one !!!
18:45 * zigo files a bug immediately
18:45 xarses hehe
18:45 xarses we have about 0% coverage for people doing fun things with the releases
18:46 zigo xarses: I'm a lot further than I was when I tried porting to Debian a year ago.
18:46 zigo It took me DAYS to get the rabbitmq setup though.
18:46 zigo It's far from trivial.
18:46 xarses ah there it is
18:46 * xarses makes a patch
18:48 xarses https://gist.github.com/xarses/2b4aa6c872c25b996776
18:49 xarses zigo: here's the shorter way to make a new 'release'
18:49 xarses you just add the specific parts you want to overwrite from ubuntu
18:49 xarses in my case, I just want to kill off the fuel packages repo
18:51 zigo xarses: Well, this wouldn't work for me, as I am switching lots of stuff so it matches the Debian case, use other path than the ones used in the CentOS stuff (ie: it's FHS compliant), and such...
18:51 zigo Plus I'm using my laptop's OpenStack Mitaka package repository and approx ... :P
18:52 amnk joined #fuel-dev
18:53 xarses thats fine, can reduce your duplication with anchors, you probably want to avoid a full copy of base_release
18:55 xarses actually re-reading it it looks like you might not have changed anything in base_release
18:56 xarses but if you needed to, you should just add it in the one that extends base_release so you don't have as much maintenance to do against the built in release set
18:58 zigo Yup, got ya.
18:59 zigo Now I got the GUI saying "Current task: Deploying..." but nothing is in fact happening ... :(
18:59 zigo And nothing in the logs helping to see what's going on.
18:59 xarses deploying
18:59 xarses or povisioning?
18:59 zigo deploying
18:59 xarses is it "installing ubuntu"
18:59 zigo fa_build_image hasn't even run.
19:00 zigo When I click on the "Nodes" tab, that's what's written, yes.
19:00 xarses did you try rebuilding your bootstrap image first?
19:00 zigo In the "Dashboard" tab it's written "Current task: Deploying..."
19:00 xarses so it should be building the ibp image then
19:00 zigo I generally build it *before* installing the Fuel packages.
19:01 zigo Well, that's the problem, it's NOT.
19:01 xarses the boostrap image should be built from the package list in the release metadata
19:02 xarses you probably want to look at the nailgun app // astute logs and see why it didn't start the image
19:02 zigo Oh, also, what's about this "app" stuff?
19:02 zigo There's only a single nailgund, right?
19:02 zigo (ie: the nailgun-api...)
19:02 xarses there is app log and the api log
19:03 xarses the api log is really just the wsgi log
19:03 zigo So far, I have never seen nailgun writting an app.log
19:03 xarses hmm, it should be
19:03 xarses you also should have assassind and the collector processes running
19:04 zigo I have assassin.log and reciever.log
19:04 zigo No problem.
19:04 zigo These 2 are started.
19:04 zigo xarses: Oh, one thing; is it mandatory that nailgun runs as root?
19:04 xarses since we dropped the container, we need to do something about systemd not knowing they need some group thingy so they can all be stopped at once
19:04 zigo I've made it run as user/group nailgun.
19:04 xarses shoudn't matter
19:05 xarses only cobbler and mco should require it
19:05 zigo The issue when you run as root, as that you can't use socket files for postgress, which is very lame.
19:05 xarses there is a spec floating around to stop that
19:05 xarses it's not supposed to use sockets
19:05 zigo I very much prefer to use the posgress unix auth if possible.
19:05 zigo Well, that's what I've setup! :P
19:05 xarses I can run nailgun from my venv
19:06 xarses as my user on my laptop
19:06 zigo Anyway, it's 3am over here in China.
19:06 zigo I'll stop working on it for now, and re-do a setup from scratch tomorrow.
19:06 xarses wow, you're back in china
19:06 xarses man get some sleep
19:06 zigo Yeah, for a week and a half more, then back to France.
19:07 zigo We came for the Chinese new year...
19:07 zigo The thing is, I do want to go sleep early, but starting next week, I'll have no time for this Debian port.
19:07 zigo I'll be fully on the Mitaka Debian release...
19:07 zigo So I'd like to go a bit further if possible.
19:08 zigo Which I am, really ! :)
19:08 zigo xarses: Would you like to actually try?
19:08 zigo The setup is nearly fully automated.
19:08 xarses try which?
19:08 zigo Try my port of the Fuel master node to Debian.
19:08 xarses sure
19:09 zigo I explained it on a mail to mos-dev.
19:12 zigo "Need help for the Debian port of the Fuel master node" was the subject line.
19:12 zigo There's probably too many details in my explanations, in fact, you could normally have everything installed in just 2 commands.
19:13 xarses so, we make a docker script for it then
19:13 xarses =)
19:15 zigo lol
19:15 zigo no.... no-no-no .... there's no docker! :)
19:16 zigo Basically: apt-get install openstack-deploy && openstack-deploy --non-interactive fuel-master-node
19:17 xarses ya, like hell I'm installing that not in a container or vm
19:20 zigo :)
19:20 zigo Sure !
19:20 zigo I use virtualbox.
19:21 xarses and here you don't like docker...
19:27 zigo For such a work, it's IMO not enough isolation and complexity.
19:27 zigo 2 ifaces, etc.
19:28 zigo -> sleep
