02:50 askb agordeev, working on the second case, as we need to move away from plain_text_passwd, from https://review.openstack.org/#/c/277353
02:52 askb I am wondering if there is a way to specify a cipher along with the passwd in the cloud config file.

06:57 devvesa Hi all, one question regarding to hiera: I've seen that /etc/puppet/hiera.yaml defines the file plugin/<my-plugin-name as the highest precedence file
06:58 devvesa Is there a place in my plugin structure where I can put the <my-plugin-name>.yaml file and gets automatically 'installed'
06:58 devvesa or I have to copy it manually?
06:58 devvesa (I'm talking about Fuel 8, BTW)
07:00 devvesa ikalnitsky: can you help me on this?

08:34 karthikeayan in bootstrapped nodes, i can ping 8.8.8.8, but not google
08:35 karthikeayan wat can be the issue?
08:46 gkibardin hi
08:47 gkibardin what does cat /etc/resolve.conf says?
08:47 gkibardin according to your description it looks like name resolving is misconfigured

08:53 karthikeayan domail local
08:54 karthikeayan search local
08:54 karthikeayan nameserver 10.20.0.2
08:54 karthikeayan 10.20.0.2 is my fuel master ip
09:06 gkibardin ok, are you able to ping google.com from the master?
09:11 karthikeayan no, i couldn;t
09:12 gkibardin ok, lets move to the master
09:12 karthikeayan ok
09:12 gkibardin what is the output of ip addr and ip route?
09:13 karthikeayan http://paste.openstack.org/show/491057/
09:17 yantarou joined #fuel-dev
09:21 gkibardin is "default via 10.0.4.2 dev eth2" correct?
09:22 gkibardin aha, sorry, I've forgotten - you are able to ping external addresses
09:22 gkibardin so, what does /etc/resolve.conf contain on master?
09:22 karthikeayan yup..
09:22 karthikeayan but its not resolvable
09:23 karthikeayan ; generated by /usr/sbin/dhclient-script search organization.domain nameserver 10.20.0.2 nameserver 147.128.170.138
09:24 gkibardin are you able to ping 147.128.170.138 from master?
09:24 karthikeayan yes.. i am able to ping
09:25 gkibardin but not google.com?
09:25 karthikeayan yes..
09:25 karthikeayan am able to ping 8.8.8.8 from master
09:26 pbelamge joined #fuel-dev
09:28 ekosareva joined #fuel-dev
09:29 gkibardin aha, ive just noticed the first entry 'nameserver 10.20.0.2' in your resolve.conf
09:30 gkibardin it looks like the reason we cannot resolve anything
09:30 karthikeayan oops...
09:30 gkibardin I'm not sure how it got there, eth0 is not managed by dhcp
09:30 karthikeayan yeah, i commented it out, now am able to ping
09:31 gkibardin lets try to remove that )
09:31 karthikeayan inmaster
09:31 karthikeayan in master
09:31 karthikeayan but still not able to ping from slave
09:31 gkibardin ok, one problem seem to be solved
09:32 karthikeayan ok
09:32 gkibardin on the master lets "systemctl start dnsmask"
09:33 karthikeayan Failed to issue method call: Unit dnsmask.service failed to load: No such file or directory.
09:33 gkibardin this must passthrough slave's dns requests
09:33 nadya joined #fuel-dev
09:34 karthikeayan any idea why its says no such file or directory
09:34 karthikeayan ?
09:36 gkibardin figuring...
09:36 nadya joined #fuel-dev
09:36 gkibardin ls /sbin/dnsmask
09:36 gkibardin is it there?
09:37 karthikeayan yup, present
09:37 karthikeayan [root@fuel ~]# /sbin/dnsmasq  dnsmasq: failed to create listening socket for port 53: Address already in use
09:38 gkibardin aha, my bad
09:38 gkibardin systemctl start dnsmasq
09:38 gkibardin not masK
09:39 gkibardin hm....
09:39 gkibardin ps -ef | grep dnsmasq ?
09:40 karthikeayan my bad too, how could i missed it..
09:40 karthikeayan [root@fuel ~]# ps -ef | grep dnsmasq nobody   10104  9175  0 06:44 ?        00:00:00 /usr/sbin/dnsmasq -k
09:40 sovsianikov joined #fuel-dev
09:41 gkibardin aha, it is running
09:41 gkibardin and it must handle DNS requests
09:42 karthikeayan ok
09:42 gkibardin if it does not, lets look and /etc/dnsmasq.conf
09:42 gkibardin it may be configured either to look to /etc/resolve.conf for upstream servers
09:42 karthikeayan oops its a big file
09:42 gkibardin or upstream servers may be configured explicitly
09:43 dims joined #fuel-dev
09:43 gkibardin resolv-file must not be set (the default /etc/resolv.conf is used in this case)
09:43 ikalnitsky devvesa: do you still need my help ?
09:44 gkibardin no-resolv must also not be set
09:44 karthikeayan conf-dir=/etc/dnsmasq.d
09:44 karthikeayan this is the only line which is not commented
09:44 gkibardin aha, so everything is by default
09:44 gkibardin are there any files?
09:45 karthikeayan no files inside /etc/dnsmasq.d
09:45 gkibardin aha, BTW, lets restart it, I suspect it is still using old resolv.conf with invalid nameserver entry
09:46 gkibardin systemctl restart dnsmasq
09:46 karthikeayan ok
09:47 karthikeayan i dnt find any difference after restarting dnsmasq
09:48 devvesa ikalnitsky: If you have an answer, yes
09:48 devvesa I could copy the file to hiera hierarchy, but I still wondering if the plugin structure provides a way to create this file directly
09:48 ikalnitsky devvesa: there's no API for creating hierra overrrides in plugin. it should be done manually
09:49 ikalnitsky you better contact plugin developers for details
09:49 ikalnitsky for instance, mattymo
09:49 devvesa ikalnitsky: Ok. Thanks
09:49 devvesa The code that copies the file is not dirty, so I can live with it even it isn't a way :)
09:49 gkibardin aha, lemme figure where it logs so that may take a look
09:52 karthikeayan actually i did "service dnsmasq restart"
09:52 karthikeayan am able to ping google.com from slave
09:52 karthikeayan issue is because of that 10.20.0.2 which was there in the /etc/resolv.conf
09:52 gkibardin aha, I've just figured it doesn't always restart correctly
09:53 gkibardin I had to kill mine and start it again )
09:53 gkibardin so it works, excellent :)
09:54 karthikeayan yes, but i hav one more big step
09:54 karthikeayan network verification should get succeed in fuel web ui
09:55 gkibardin is not yet?
09:57 agordeev askb: hi, forgot to mention that I've responded to the bug.
09:59 karthikeayan yes, not yet .. am trying
10:00 karthikeayan aaah, seems like after restarting dnsmasq dchp is not working
10:00 karthikeayan pxe boot
10:02 gkibardin hm..., it is strange they don't seem to be connected

10:03 karthikeayan wat is the service i should check in fuel master for dhcp server?
10:05 ekosareva joined #fuel-dev
10:05 karthikeayan seems like 67 port is free inside cobbler docker contaier
10:14 gkibardin oops, sorry, I've forgotten, dnsmasq is also used for DHCP/PXE etc. and it seems we've started default server which is not capable of doing PXE
10:14 gkibardin lemme figure how to start it correctly so that PXE works again
10:15 karthikeayan ok, great.. i also guessed the same
