00:55 techistheway is there any reason adding plugins hasn’t been added through the web ui?

01:48 Topic for #fuel-dev is now npm lint jobs are failing due to a problem with npm registry. The problem is under investigation, and we will update once the issue is solved.

20:05 Guest45336 hi everyone, having a bit of trouble building a fuel-8 iso from the github stable release
20:05 Guest45336 for some reason it installs all dependencies, but then fails after the worker steps
20:05 Guest45336 can anyone help me out?
20:06 Guest45336 it says failed to process 1 package
20:06 Guest45336 make *** path to file /mos-repo.done [error 1]

20:32 mwhahaha Guest45336: i'm trying it out right now, did you do anything special other than grab fuel-main and run the prepare-build-env.sh?
20:48 Guest45336 thanks, and no i did not do anything special. Literally all i did was download fuel-main, run prepare build, then make iso
20:49 mwhahaha k i'm running make iso now, we'll see
20:49 Guest45336 fyi Im trying out stable 7.0 now, gunna see if that works. I realized i needed 7 after all
20:49 Guest45336 by any chance do you have to put the openstack iso in the virtualbox/iso directory before running make iso? not sure if that could throw it off
20:50 mwhahaha nope
20:50 mwhahaha make iso should download everything you need to make it, were you building on an actual server or in a vm?
20:51 Guest45336 hmm..weird. All im trying to do is produce a fuel iso. im on ubuntu 14.04 64 bit and it seems to have installed all of the required dependencies...
20:51 _nadya_ joined #fuel-dev
20:52 Guest45336 its in a virtual box vm on my computer
20:52 Guest45336 is that a problem?
20:52 mwhahaha yea
20:52 Guest45336 so i need to run it on an actual physical machine
20:53 Guest45336 ?
20:53 mwhahaha not necessarily, i remember there being issues with older verions
20:53 mwhahaha i'm trying to see if it's documented
20:53 Guest45336 ok thanks
20:53 Guest45336 i thought the only requirements were that it was a 64 bit ubuntu box
20:54 mwhahaha https://docs.fuel-infra.org/fuel-dev/develop/env.html#building-the-fuel-iso
20:54 Guest45336 os*
20:54 mwhahaha see the not about building in a vm
20:54 mwhahaha s/not/note
20:55 Guest45336 hmm let me look at it really quick
20:59 Guest45336 hmm still a bit confused...i see the part about verifying folders, im not really sure what it means by shared folders or where im supposed to move them too
21:06 mwhahaha if you're mounting the code from a shared folder
21:06 mwhahaha basically you can't build from a shared folder
21:13 javeriak joined #fuel-dev
21:16 Guest45336 hmm well im running it from my Downloads folder. is there another directory that i can run the code from that is by default not a shared folder?
21:17 mwhahaha so i guess the better question, why are you building an iso?
21:18 Guest45336 haha good question...some of the other engineers where I work need to modify some plugins, this is my part of the task
21:18 salmon_ joined #fuel-dev
21:18 mwhahaha plugins aren't on the iso
21:18 mwhahaha :D
21:19 mwhahaha so like if you just need the latest version, we build the various branches daily and test them so you could just download todays iso from https://ci.fuel-infra.org/
21:19 Guest45336 well thats what I thought they were doing, but idk they have to do something with the iso to automate builds with jenkins. and also we have to make it work offline haha
21:22 mwhahaha well that sounds complicated
21:23 Guest45336 ya haha, im a little bit out of the loop here. but i def know we need to produce the iso in a build process
21:24 mwhahaha well my 8.0 build is still going
21:24 Guest45336 so i mean is there another folder I can run this out of? If it wasnt a vm would it work that easily?
21:24 mwhahaha that should be ok, a shared folder would be something that you were mounting from the external host
21:24 mwhahaha like if you had the code on your laptop and you create a mount in the vm and use that to build
21:25 mwhahaha but if you're just pulling down the code within the vm it should be fine
21:25 mwhahaha the other thing would be make sure you don't run out of disk space
21:26 Guest45336 hmm..ya i mean like i said i just downloaded the code to my Downloads directory so nothing special going on there... and also i think i sized my vm yesturday at like 150 GB so i think the space is fine too
21:26 Guest45336 does my error that i posted earlier help at all?
21:26 mwhahaha no
21:26 Guest45336 any logs or anything that I could look at?
21:27 Guest45336 most of the files looked empty
21:27 mwhahaha you'd have to look through the make output and see if there was another error
21:27 mwhahaha that final error was just the make error which is as usual unhelpful
21:29 Guest45336 hmm... ya the make output is not very helpful... thats pretty much the most precise error it gives
21:30 mwhahaha hey mine finally errored
21:30 mwhahaha INFO[0002] Could not reach any registry endpoint
21:30 mwhahaha make: *** [/home/fuel/git/fuel-main/build/docker/fuel-centos.done] Error 1
21:30 mwhahaha did  you have something like that?
21:31 mwhahaha oh yea
21:31 mwhahaha sooo docker
21:32 mwhahaha the older versions of docker can't pull from the docker hub anymore
21:32 Guest45336 it was something similiar but I dont think it was the registry endpoint. i ran another build so i cant see my old output but this build is almost done so ill be able to tell you in a couple minutes what im getting
21:32 Guest45336 ahh
21:32 Guest45336 so does that leave me with having to use the most current version of fuel?
21:33 mwhahaha well we seemed to solve it some how
21:33 mwhahaha wonder if we're using a private registry
21:33 Guest45336 ya thats kinda weird
21:34 mwhahaha i bet our build systems already have the centos7 docker image loaded
21:34 mwhahaha so we won't have this problem unless we build a new server
21:35 Guest45336 possibly
21:35 Guest45336 is that something yall have to fix or do i just have to update something?
21:36 mwhahaha so you could try installing docker from docker to get a newer version
21:36 mwhahaha https://docs.docker.com/engine/installation/linux/ubuntulinux/
21:36 Guest45336 nice, ill give that a try
21:37 mwhahaha otherwise you have to side load the centos:centos7 image
21:37 Guest45336 gotcha ill give docker a try first, hopefully ill get to see the output of this build first
21:39 AlexAvadanii just read your conversation, maybe this helps: Fuel@OPNFV uses the following to bump docker: https://git.opnfv.org/cgit/fuel/tree/build/Makefile#n115
21:39 mwhahaha yup that, thanks AlexAvadanii
21:40 mwhahaha i'll go create a bug against fuel
21:44 mwhahaha https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1592576
21:50 Guest45336 thanks guys
