11:44 amartellone Hi. I've installed in HA by Fuel 3.2. I have an error in volume creation process, but cinder doesn't logging nothing
11:45 amartellone How can I resolve it?
11:47 Nikolay Hi!
11:48 Nikolay How are you trying to create volume? Do you use Horizon dashboard?
11:48 amartellone I have tried using dashboard and cinder CLI
11:49 Nikolay Do have errors in both cases?
11:49 amartellone Yes
11:50 amartellone I have another enviroment in not HA..and it works
11:50 amartellone I don't understand the error because cinder doesn't wirte anything into logs
11:52 Nikolay So all you have is just some unknown error with no other additional info. Is it?
11:53 Nikolay BTW do you have Cinder nodes in your cloud?
11:56 amartellone I have a node with Compute + Cinder
11:57 amartellone and Yes, I haven't info in log file, so I don't understand the error
11:59 ogelbukh amartellone: please note that log files are collected to fuel master node
12:00 ogelbukh so there are no log files on nodes, but they are on fuel-master under /var/log/remote/
12:00 ogelbukh or somewhere around there
12:00 amartellone in fuel master node? Why? I would log on nodes...
12:02 ogelbukh amartellone: so you have all your logs in single place, I guess
12:02 ogelbukh *one place
12:03 amartellone ok...but the master node is a small server!
12:06 Nikolay Check if there is no problem with free disk space on it. And if it is so try to grep through /var/log/remote for cinder errors.
12:07 Nikolay And then check your Cinder nodes if there is enough disk space for volume creation.
12:08 amartellone ok...I check it...but is there a support documentation for change this configuration?
12:13 mrasskazov joined #fuel
12:14 amartellone and another thing...cinder-volume.log cinder.log, where are they located?
12:16 ogelbukh amartellone: what do you see on your fuel master in /var/log/remote?
12:16 ogelbukh you should see 1 dir per node in your cluster
12:16 ogelbukh and all logs from that node are inside that dir
12:17 anotchenko joined #fuel
12:26 Nikolay Fuel collects all logs in one place to improve management and support.  It is by design. For example you can make diagnostic snapshot and send it to Mirantis for analysis.
12:28 ogelbukh I guess that it can also visualize them in web ui
12:28 ogelbukh or at least will be able at some point
12:28 Nikolay There is no way to reconfigure the way how the log files are collected except that do it manually reconfiguring rsyslog service on each host of your cloud.
12:28 ogelbukh that is, filter, search and so on
12:29 ogelbukh Nikolay: or in puppet configuration ;)
12:30 Nikolay Yes you can also do it using Puppet. But once you do it you loose all the advantages of Fuel UI.

12:53 amartellone @ogelbukh: I'm agree with you that the central log repository is a good choice, but in my opinion how its implementation is too restrict ....
12:53 amartellone anyway
12:53 amartellone I see cinder cinder-cinder.volume.manager.log file
12:54 amartellone but there aren't useful information
12:54 rshon joined #fuel
13:02 Nikolay Which operating system do you use on nodes?  It is Ubuntu?
13:02 amartellone yes...Ubuntu
13:04 Nikolay Well let's try to perform network check from Fuel UI first
13:06 e0ne joined #fuel
13:06 amartellone ok...Verification succeeded.
13:07 Nikolay and then run all the tests from OpenStack Health Check tab
13:07 anotchenko joined #fuel
13:09 amartellone I have done them...and it show me an error : Create instance volume
13:09 amartellone Timed out waiting to become available Please refer to OpenStack logs for more details.
13:10 amartellone The server is configured with raid 5...I don't know if is a problem

13:23 amartellone I suppose that the problem is cinder-volume process on controller nodes
13:23 amartellone it is down
13:25 MiroslavAnashkin How many combined compute+conder nodes do you have?
13:25 MiroslavAnashkin And which one process do you mean?
13:25 amartellone Yes...Compute + Cinder ...cinder-volume runs only on compute nodes
13:25 amartellone I have two compute+cinder nodes
13:26 amartellone on compute: cinder-volume process
13:26 amartellone on controller: cinder-scheduler and cinder-api
13:32 MiroslavAnashkin Please check if you have service "open-iscsi" up and running on compute+cinder nodes
13:34 amartellone yes ...it's running
13:35 amartellone I can try to restart it
13:37 amartellone no...it is not works
13:40 MiroslavAnashkin Please also check if service "iscsitarget" is running on cinder nodes
13:42 amartellone no..if I do  ps aux | grep iscsi...I see only root     30736  0.0  0.0      0     0 ?        S<   13:44   0:00 [iscsi_eh]
13:42 amartellone root     30745  0.0  0.0   4500   496 ?        Ss   13:44   0:00 /sbin/iscsid
13:42 amartellone root     30746  0.0  0.0   4992  2944 ?        S<Ls 13:44   0:00 /sbin/iscsid
13:43 amartellone I haven't iscsitarget service on cinder nodes
13:44 MiroslavAnashkin Please try `sudo /etc/init.d/iscsitarget start`
13:46 amartellone command not found :(
13:48 IlyaE joined #fuel
13:48 amartellone Can I install it through the master node?
13:49 MiroslavAnashkin Yes, please try `sudo apr-get install iscsitarget iscsitarget-dkms`
13:50 MiroslavAnashkin apt-get
13:51 amartellone I have a problem ...actually I haven't internet connection on the server
13:53 MiroslavAnashkin Hmm, internet connection is not reguired. Since it worked under non-ha configuration...
13:56 MiroslavAnashkin What network type do you use - Nova or Neutron? And what type of segmentation - VLAN or GRE?
13:56 amartellone Neutron with GRE
13:58 amartellone the cinder /etc/apt/sources.list file contains deb http://10.20.0.2:8080/ubuntu/fuelweb/x86_64 precise main
13:59 amartellone and I ping 10.20.0.2
14:02 amartellone @<MiroslavAnashkin> : what do you think if I try to download the packages and to install they?
14:05 MiroslavAnashkin All the necessary packages definitely exist in local ubuntu repository on Fuel ISO.
14:07 MiroslavAnashkin Please download diagnostic snapshot (Fuel web UI, Support link) and share is somewhere on dropbox or Google Drive.
14:13 amartellone ok...this is the link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1p0AcYGccg3NzNRdnZlenlWTVU/edit?usp=sharing
14:15 amartellone node 23 and node 24 are compute+cinder nodes
14:15 MiroslavAnashkin OK, got it.

14:51 MiroslavAnashkin Hmm. Let me try to deploy the similar config first and check, it more and more looks like a bug
14:54 amartellone ok miroslav...how we can stay in contact?

21:47 TSCHAKMac is there a particular reason that Fuel WILL NOT allow any other VLAN'ed traffic on the PXE interface?
21:47 TSCHAKMac it just says NUH UH, when I try to drag other traffic onto the same interface.
21:50 tatyana joined #fuel
21:56 xarses TSCHAKMac: I assume you are talking about neutron VLAN mode?
21:57 TSCHAKMac xarses: when you go into the Interfaces screen, after you've specified a set of nodes, there is a row for the Fuel (PXE) traffic. Only one box can be there, for that traffic, I can't drag anything else up there.
21:57 TSCHAKMac I thought the Neutron VLAN was the Management network?
21:58 xarses TSCHAKMac: What network mode are you using?
21:58 TSCHAKMac tried with both Neutron/VLAN and Neutron/GRE segmentation.
21:59 xarses TSCHAKMac: ok, It should work in nova Flat/VLAN.
21:59 xarses TSCHAKMac: It's a limitation of the code that implements the interfaces iirc, its already on the backlog to fix
22:00 xarses In Neutron VLAN mode, you need 3 interfaces min, In GRE you should be able to use as few as 2 interfaces
22:05 TSCHAKMac ok, thanks :)
