12:28 stacker1001 hello! My deployment hangs at "Installing ubuntu" and i cannot do anything to unlock this state. There are any way to stop this deployment and start it again? The only solution i found is reinstall mirantis fuel :(
12:42 SebastianKreutzb so, I installed fuel with your virtualbox scripts, everything runs and I could even start an instance but now 2 issues occured. 1st one ist that my slave nodes can not reach the internet and the 2nd one is that I can not SSH into the instance.

13:06 SebastianKreutzb hi, anybody here?
13:07 jouston joined #fuel
13:07 mattymo SebastianKreutzb, hey
13:07 mattymo you have to set up the public network correctly (and specify a gateway there)
13:07 mattymo it means redeploying though
13:08 SebastianKreutzb redeploying of all nodes?
13:08 MiroslavAnashkin <stacker1001>: You might try to delete environment and reset the stalled nodes.
13:09 SebastianKreutzb mattymo: So I delete all slave node VMS?
13:10 MiroslavAnashkin <SebastianKreutzb>: what type of network you use in VirtualBox to connect Public network to? Is it Host-only or something else?
13:10 SebastianKreutzb I did not change anything. I just run the scripts
13:10 MiroslavAnashkin So, it is host-only network.
13:11 SebastianKreutzb yes, I checked at the controller node and it has 3 adapters which are all host-only
13:13 SebastianKreutzb MiroslavAnashkin: can I just change one of the adapters to be NAT? or all all 3 adapters used?
13:15 MiroslavAnashkin It should work if you change these adapter types to NAT Network (Available in VirtualBox 4.3), but this network type is extremely buggy.
13:16 MiroslavAnashkin It may either hang-up VirtuaBox or even the whole host system, at least in my case it was the host OS.
13:16 SebastianKreutzb oh my
13:17 SebastianKreutzb so maybe create some scripts for vmware fusion or so - which is more stable :)
13:17 MiroslavAnashkin Please identify one of vboxnetXXX adapters, which one you use for public network.
13:18 MiroslavAnashkin Please set its gateway address as public gateway in Fuel UI and redeploy OpenStack.
13:19 TSCHAKMac joined #fuel
13:21 MiroslavAnashkin Then, please add necessary route between vboxnetXXX adapter and your physical NIC, which you plan use for public access to OpenStack
13:22 SebastianKreutzb MiroslavAnashkin: oh my, that's complicated :(
13:24 MiroslavAnashkin Yes, but at least VBox team is working on it and we all hope they make NAT Network stable.
13:25 MiroslavAnashkin Other approach is to use bridged network for NIC used as public and make all the necessary settings on your switch.
13:27 SebastianKreutzb ok, so I can not connect from the nodes to the internet. okay for me now. so when I start an instance, it gets the IP 10.0.0.3 - but I can not SSH to the VM from either outside or inside the nodes?!
13:36 SebastianKreutzb ah, I got it. I forget to open port 22 of the default security group. now it works. but the VM does not have an internet connection, too. So I need to fuddle around a bit.
13:37 ruhe joined #fuel
13:40 MiroslavAnashkin It also depends on from where are you going to connect to the internet - from instances, inside the OpenStack or from the host OS on the OpenStack nodes
13:41 MiroslavAnashkin For Host OSes simply add one more NAT or Bridge adapter to each node.
13:42 MiroslavAnashkin For instances - you have to set up routing between VirtualBox and external physical network.
13:49 SebastianKreutzb hmm, okay. so that’s maybe something for the dedicated support then.
14:02 SebastianKreutzb I am doing vlanmanager and I tested if a VM of a new tenant gets a new VLAN and it seems so! VMs from tenant1 get 10.0.0.5 and tenant2 gets 10.0.0.35 - cool
14:02 SebastianKreutzb I have network size of 32 set

14:31 TSCHAKMac To any devs: am I correct in assuming that fuel nodes get an IP assigned to the public network? (this is what i'm seeing shortly after a CentOS install, br-ex on each node gets a public IP.)
14:31 rongze_ joined #fuel
14:40 stacker1001 MiroslavAnashkin, ok, i'm going to do that
14:40 stacker1001 MiroslavAnashkin, tnx
14:41 MiroslavAnashkin <TSCHAKMac>: It depends on network type, number of NIC per OpenStack node and network segmentation type.
14:41 TSCHAKMac Neutron with GRE, three NICs per node (not counting IPMI).

15:03 amartellone Is scheduled  a new release of the 3.2 version? When is it?
15:07 mihgen amartellone: going to release 3.2.1 by the end of the week

15:13 amartellone thanks @mihgen
15:15 mihgen amartellone: are you introducing swift as a separated role?
15:17 e0ne joined #fuel
15:26 amartellone @mihgen: Yes I do. I would add swift and NFS driver support
15:27 SebastianKreutzb oh NFS is not supported, yet? we have an NFS here ....
15:27 mihgen NFS for Glance images?
15:27 mihgen not supported
15:28 mattymo cinder has an nfs backend but we don't implement it
15:29 SebastianKreutzb oh, that's a dealbreaker for us. damnit. when do you plan that it comes?
15:29 mihgen amartellone: if you have something to pull request back to upstream - we would be happy to merge :)
15:30 mihgen you see - there is an interest) SebastianKreutzb - sorry it's not on the list of things we will be doing in nearest month or two
15:30 SebastianKreutzb hmm, maybe I can purchase that feature? need to think about it.
15:30 mihgen should be pretty easy to hack though on the deployed env, to switch from local disk to NFS
15:31 mihgen SebastianKreutzb: that's possible =) we've got services team..
15:31 SebastianKreutzb ok, so I keep it in mind.,
15:32 SebastianKreutzb MiroslavAnashkin: I tried to follow your networking advice but don’t really get it. Here is what I did: on the controller node I added in virtualbox a 4th adapter and set it to NAT. on the controller node I added the file /etc/network/interfaces.d/ifcfg-eth3 with the content:
15:32 SebastianKreutzb auto eth0
15:32 SebastianKreutzb iface eth0 inet dhcp
15:33 SebastianKreutzb but if I restart networking now it still won’t work.
15:33 SebastianKreutzb I mean that the controller node can ping 8.8.8.8
15:35 amartellone @mihgen: sure...just I will have a stable version I will pull it :)
15:42 MiroslavAnashkin <TSCHAKMac> To any devs: Yes, correct. OVS creates virtual NIC for the bridge and assigns public IP to this bridge/NIC
15:43 TSCHAKMac some of the IPs at the top of this network are already used, is there a way to tell fuel to stay away from them?
15:48 MiroslavAnashkin <TSCHAKMac>: Current Fuel version do not have IP exclusion feature.
15:49 MiroslavAnashkin <TSCHAKMac> :But with Neutron you may create additional ports in your br-ex, assign these IP to the ports and shut these ports down.
15:51 MiroslavAnashkin <SebastianKreutzb>: Yes. there is default gateway explicitly set on every node and pointing to the master node.
15:51 SebastianKreutzb MiroslavAnashkin: so what should I adjust in what file? *confused*
16:14 MiroslavAnashkin <SebastianKreutzb>: Hmm, don't remember exactly, where it is , but you may search /etc and find all files containing "10.20.0.2"
16:36 r0mikiam joined #fuel
16:37 MiroslavAnashkin <SebastianKreutzb>: Aah, sorry, we've dropped default route starting from Fuel 3.1
16:39 MiroslavAnashkin <SebastianKreutzb> So, please add default gateway in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/<your NIC config script>
16:49 xdeller * /etc/sysconfig/network

22:08 Fecn Hi guys - anyone seen a problem where vnc sessions to the VMs become unavailable, but everything else appears pretty much normal (expect for possibly not getting the right keypair deployed inside the newly spawned vm)
22:08 tatyana joined #fuel
22:09 Fecn It says 'Starting VNC handshake' and eventually times out... (novncproxy is running OK on all the controller nodes and listening on 6080)
22:14 ruhe joined #fuel
22:23 Fecn Never mind ... rebooted a controller box and that sorted it :-)
22:24 Fecn Brutal but effective
22:30 xarses Fecn: the controller was non-responsive?
22:39 Fecn xarses: The controller seemed responsive enough... services all seemed to be running... tried restarting a couple (novncproxy and nov-api) but didn't make any difference... Figured that as we had a HA setup I'd just take the easy option and force failover to a different node
22:39 Fecn nothing obviously wrong looking in the logs
22:40 Fecn nothing being logged when vnc sessions were timing out etc
