12:41 Vidalinux hi everyone
12:42 Vidalinux why mirantis fuel disable SELINUX on nodes?
12:42 mihgen Vidalinux: hi
12:42 mihgen we just didn't get enough resources to make it properly configured yet :)
12:43 Vidalinux this is not a good practice for production environment ;)
12:44 Vidalinux other thing I found is that by default I can ssh to intances without any security policy
12:46 Vidalinux I mean security rule ;)
12:47 mihgen Vidalinux: well it was Ok before Selinux was invented, right?) actually there are other areas where I would improve security first before even going here
12:47 mihgen for security groups - it's rather strange
12:47 mihgen it should be Ok actually, I mean no ssh allowed
12:47 mihgen before you create security group in openstack
12:48 Vidalinux yeah i know
12:48 mihgen can you give more details then so we can verify? or go straight to launchpad.net/fuel and file bug
12:49 Vidalinux mihgen, where are you from? do you work for mirantis ?
12:49 mihgen Vidalinux: yep. I based in Moscow
12:50 Vidalinux cool :)
12:50 Vidalinux is too damm freezing down there ah? ;)
12:54 mattymo Vidalinux, winter arrived late here. It's colder in the US
12:54 mihgen Vidalinux: it's all right now, around 0C =) are you from warmer place?)
12:55 Vidalinux tropical caribean island :D
12:55 Vidalinux is good here!
12:55 Vidalinux beach and exotic ladies with tiny bikinis ;)
12:55 Vidalinux hahaha
12:57 mihgen well not in bikinis but in night clubs ladies are good here too ;)
12:57 Vidalinux yeah rusian ladies are pretty hot
12:58 stacker100 joined #fuel
12:59 Vidalinux I'm loading another instance to see if the ssh thing happends again with this one
13:03 SteAle joined #fuel
13:10 Vidalinux mihgen, same thing with another instance
13:10 Vidalinux I can ssh to it without any rule added
13:11 Vidalinux I'm using fuel 3.2
13:12 mihgen Vidalinux: are you using Quantum?
13:12 mihgen if so - we had bug in Fuel 3.2, fixed now in master and in 3.2.1 candidate
13:13 Vidalinux I cam update with yum ?
13:13 Vidalinux can*
13:13 mihgen nova-network should work as expected in terms of security groups. I believe we even have patch somewhere… but not update with yum
13:13 Vidalinux ok

14:13 marcinkuzminski how could i debug PXE boot, seems that after installing 4.0 it's not working anymore
14:14 marcinkuzminski i see dhcp working fine machine gets the ip form 10.20.0.X range
14:17 amartellone joined #fuel
14:25 MiroslavAnashkin <marcinkuzminski>: What exactly does not work? Do you select something when boot menu appears on the node boot?
14:26 marcinkuzminski MiroslavAnashkin: so i see in boot menu that nodes get's an IP from dhcp
14:26 marcinkuzminski then it fails with PXE-E78 Could not locate boot server
14:27 MiroslavAnashkin Do you have DHCP enabled in 10.20.0.xxx network segment?
14:28 marcinkuzminski no, also fuelmenu does a check for dhcp and it passes
14:29 marcinkuzminski MiroslavAnashkin: console screen: http://tinypic.com/r/33a8hl0/5
14:32 MiroslavAnashkin Please try to set your virtual network adapter type to Intel E1000e - if possible.
14:35 MiroslavAnashkin Or - please try Vlance (AMD 79C970 PCnet32) - AMD is default NIC type starting from Fuel 3.2, since Intel emulation in both VMware and VirtualBox has some promisc mode optimizations, incompatible with Havana Neutron
14:35 marcinkuzminski ok i jsut need to find where i cand o that on vmware fusion
14:36 marcinkuzminski MiroslavAnashkin: ok i had set ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000"
14:36 marcinkuzminski should i set it to ethernet0.virtualDev = "Vlance" ?
14:38 MiroslavAnashkin Yes - for all nodes
14:39 marcinkuzminski including fuel master ?
14:39 MiroslavAnashkin No, you may leave Fuel master as is
14:40 marcinkuzminski ok rebooting whole thing
14:42 marcinkuzminski MiroslavAnashkin: didn't work, oddly in the console it says Network boot from Intel E1000
14:43 marcinkuzminski hmm wait it reverted to e1000 in config
14:45 marcinkuzminski MiroslavAnashkin: ok now change worked by i get immidiate Operating System not found, it doesn't try to do a netboot with changed adapter
14:48 MiroslavAnashkin Hmm, great...
14:48 marcinkuzminski ahh ok
14:48 marcinkuzminski i had to use small "vlance"
14:48 marcinkuzminski changed to AMD, but boot failed :/
14:51 marcinkuzminski MiroslavAnashkin: any more ideas ?
14:52 MiroslavAnashkin Ahh, is it first adapter, which becomes eth0?
14:53 marcinkuzminski yes that vm has 3 adapters eth0 is one with 10.20.0.X network others are 10.50.0.X and 192.168.0.X
14:54 marcinkuzminski first adapter get's the IP fails then it tries to obtain dhcp from #2 and #3 but they fail after dhcp timeout
15:02 ArminderS joined #fuel
15:13 MiroslavAnashkin Ok, then please switch back to e1000 and check e1000bios.filename parameter
15:16 marcinkuzminski MiroslavAnashkin: where is this parameter ?
15:17 marcinkuzminski i could set it in vm config, but too what value
15:18 MiroslavAnashkin Near the ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000e" in <node name>.vmx file
15:19 marcinkuzminski MiroslavAnashkin: yeah so i don't have this set in the vmx config
15:20 MiroslavAnashkin There are 2 options - e1000bios.filename = "gpxe-1.0.1+-8086100f.rom" for GPXE or e1000bios.filename = "8086100f.mrom" for iPXE
15:21 MiroslavAnashkin Fuel uses linux native PXE and I don't remember , which of 2 PXE modes it is compatible with.
15:22 MiroslavAnashkin Here is the example configs http://thewayeye.net/2012/april/1/pxe-booting-virtual-machines-using-vmware-fusionworkstation-and-gpxe-or-ipxe
15:36 marcinkuzminski MiroslavAnashkin: ok so e1000bios.filename = "8086100f.mrom" worked !
15:39 MiroslavAnashkin That means we are incompatible with gPXE and it is default mode for VMWare
15:40 marcinkuzminski i get to boot menu, but bootstrap freezes :[
15:41 korn__ joined #fuel
15:43 MiroslavAnashkin you should not select no one option from boot menu
15:44 marcinkuzminski MiroslavAnashkin: yes i know but it stops at loading /images/bootstrap/initramfs.img and the dots
15:45 MiroslavAnashkin Hmm, please try to wait a minute or two.

16:38 marcinkuzminski MiroslavAnashkin: it seems to, but i'm not sure how to debug that. After the boot the fuel master doesn't see the machine anyway. I think i don't have the power to debug that more today :(

17:28 rongze joined #fuel
17:28 Vidalinux why fuel is setting public IP addreses to nodes ?
17:43 xarses each node in the cluster will receive an address on the public, management and storage network ranges. It's a function of how we built the product's arch
17:51 Vidalinux is this a good practice for production deployment? because I don't want users from instances trying to access the nodes

19:51 Fecn Hi Folks - is there any kind of command line option I can specify to make a fuel install wait at the network settings prompt (rather than just continue on after 15 secs). I keep on missing my chance as I look away from teh screen too often (and there's a 15-sec window of opportunity in a 45min install)
20:03 xarses Fcen, Fuel should take default options from the kernel command line options passed at the iso boot screen (at least for eth0)
20:03 xarses If that helps any
20:04 MiroslavAnashkin There are 2 ways
20:04 MiroslavAnashkin 1. press the <TAB> key on the very first installation screen which says "Welcome to Fuel Installer!" and update the kernel option showmenu=no to showmenu=yes.
20:05 MiroslavAnashkin 2.  run "fuelmenu" from a root shell on Fuel Master node after deployment to make minor changes to network interfaces, DNS, and gateway. The PXE settings, however, cannot be changed after deployment as it will lead to deployment failure.
20:06 MiroslavAnashkin http://docs.mirantis.com/fuel/fuel-3.2/install-guide.html#changing-network-parameters-during-installation

21:04 Fecn Hi Folks - I'm using mihgen's ISO image from Friday, but whenever I change the public network range to anything other than the default 172.16.0.0/24 then it tells me "Public gateway or public ranges are not in one CIDR. " - Anyone know a fix?
21:04 Fecn (I am sure that the IPs I'm typing in are all in the same CIDR)
21:05 mihgen Fecn: hi
21:05 mihgen there was a bug
21:05 Fecn Hi mihgen
21:05 Fecn There always is :)
21:05 mihgen it is fixed in 3.2.1 candidate for sure
21:05 mihgen I'm not sure what ISO you were using
21:05 mihgen it should be fixed in master too, I hope so
21:06 Fecn It was this one... 13:16 mihgen marcinkuzminski: this one built a few days ago:  https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-_vGfPxE7BUN1hUdEM5VGxmX3M/edit?usp=sharing
21:07 mihgen broken link
21:07 Fecn Strange - it worked for me
21:07 mihgen ok well I remember - it was based on master, which had issue at that moment
21:07 Fecn something gone awry in the cut/paste no doubt
21:07 mihgen Fecn: do you need havana or 3.2.1 candidate would be Ok for you?
21:08 mihgen master now is fixed in terms of that issue, but there are other issues at the moment :)
21:08 Fecn Would be nice to take a look at havana, but 3.2.1 would technically be better for my eval needs
21:09 Fecn If there's a quick fix involving patching/editing a file on my current install, I'll take that in preference
21:11 mihgen Fecn: let me find that commit..
21:15 mihgen Fecn: https://review.openstack.org/#/c/56414/ and https://review.openstack.org/#/c/58938/
21:15 mihgen one of them is missing on your ISO I believe
