00:02 warpig_ also, what version of fuel are you running? 4.1 is pretty good at releasing resources now...
00:03 warpig_ you might want to go on the fuel node and run "fuel list" to see if fuel thinks the node is still assigned.
00:04 warpig_ if so, use cobbler to remove it and reboot that node so it picks up the bootstrap kernel.  That should fix your problem...

15:43 lromagnoli evg: i think the problem is on vm side, if i use virtualbox i can connect phisical compute node? i use vmware only to deploy a test lab, but i can change software my boos want only to see a lab of openstack with physical kvm
15:44 lromagnoli evg: with openstack not fuel i've a working lab with 2 controller HA with pacemaker (virtual), 2 netwok node (virtual) and 2 compute node (physical), and 3 ceph node phisical
15:45 lromagnoli evg: and now i'm evaluating mirantis fuel to see if is better to go on with pure openstak or a Hibrid solution (MirantisOpestack)
15:48 evg lromagnoli: so, you can use virtualbox, it's work, sure and will do for test lab
15:49 evg lromagnoli: ..or just qemu/kvm + linux bridge-tools
15:50 lromagnoli evg: i will go to virtual box if you can support better me for me is not a problem
15:50 evg lromagnoli: for vmware (i'm not familar with) i need some time for getting in
15:51 lromagnoli evg: for qumu/kvm i'm not so expert... learning
15:51 lromagnoli evg: on slide i fond that mirantis is able to do live migration in ceph is it right?
15:52 evg lromagnoli: excuse me, i haven't got your frase: "if i use virtualbox i can connect phisical compute node"
15:53 lromagnoli evg: i need to test live migration on ceph, the must that boss want. so i need kvm not qumu for compute node is it right?

16:13 evg lromagnoli: virtual will do (i haven't tested yet)
16:14 lromagnoli ok I will
16:14 evg lromagnoli: about vm-switch:
16:14 xarses joined #fuel
16:14 lromagnoli evg: now i will destroy my vmware and put Ubuntu and virtual box on it

16:17 lromagnoli evg: a ok uderstand maybe there is a limitation on vm-switch and there is no way to let tagged and untagged vlan togheter
16:17 evg lromagnoli: we,ve got wmvare profi here... but, i see, it's not a matter any more
16:18 lromagnoli evg: on virtual box i can do it? ;-)

16:43 TomekG Hi, I've tried to change openstack admin password after deployment. @mihgen and dilyin advised to use fuelcli to set module attributes, for keeping /etc/astute.yaml consistent on all nodes, but http://docs.mirantis.com/fuel/fuel-4.1/user-guide.html#passing-custom-attributes-from-fuel-to-puppet applies to environment before deployment. I've tried to change settings after deployment using "fuel --env 1 settings --download" + vim settings_1.yaml + "settings
16:48 mihgen Hi TomekG
16:48 mihgen yep you would need to change it before deployment
16:48 mihgen and then run deployment with modified params
16:48 mihgen if you deployed already, you would need to reset environment..
16:49 mihgen but it will wipe out env and revert all nodes to bootstrap state
16:49 mihgen you will still have you configuration for env to be in place
16:51 TomekG I'd like to avoid this. I'd to preserve data on controller nodes and keep compute nodes running. Password can be changed in horizon, but I'd like to update it in puppet, for example to keep openrc consistent.
16:53 TomekG I'm not sure where this password is used also. Can change of JSON in postgresql db be considered as a "big dirty-hack" ? :)
16:55 TomekG Admin pw change seems to be cyclic administrative task, so I'd like to avoid rebuilding whole environment.
16:55 MiroslavAnashkin lromagnoli: vSwitches do not implement support for the “native VLAN”. So, you have to create separate access port group for Admin/PXE network and separate port group for VLAN tagged networks.
16:57 MiroslavAnashkin Additionally, you have to enable promiscuous mode for both port groups.
17:01 crandquist joined #fuel
17:02 lromagnoli MiroslavAnashkin: ok that was the problem now is clear

18:13 BillTheKat I am trying to create an openstack environment with multiple external networks. I have what appears to be a catch 22. I am starting with a single VLAN based Fuel deployment and then modifying the configuration. According to the docs I need to create the external network to get an ID for the L3-agent config. I want to create the new external network as physnet3 (physnet1 is initial ext net, physnet2 is my private VLANS). When doin
18:14 BillTheKat Also I added in physnet3:br-ex2 to my bridge_mapping in openvswitch plugin ini
18:15 BillTheKat I have not started a 2nd l3 agent becuase I think I need the network id
18:22 mihgen TomekG: well when openstack is deployed, then actually it maintains its services itself, i.e. fuel is not intended to change passwords...
18:22 mihgen ideally you would do it from Horizon / REST API
18:23 mihgen to make health check pass, we plan to add user/pass fields on the tab, so when it's changed - you can change it there
18:48 TomekG @mihgen, Yes, my intention was to change password in horizon and update it in Fuel, to have up-to-date ~/openrc file for example.

19:21 MaverickHunter what are the floating IP's for? are those WAN IP's?
19:24 MiroslavAnashkin These are IP addresses assigned to virtual machines (instances) to make them accessible from external network. So, yes, together with Public IPs these belong to WAN
19:28 MaverickHunter hmm ok because I am trying to wrap my head around that, I installed it using Neutron with VLAN, wouldn't you assign the floating IP's to virtual router then you have private subnet for instances behind that, that you map the floating ip's to or port forward?
19:30 MiroslavAnashkin Public IPs are intended to be assigned to virtual infrastructure. So, your public and floating IP pools should belong to the same CIDR to be routable.
19:33 MaverickHunter public routable, correct?
19:37 MiroslavAnashkin No, currently there is no such feature in Neutron like IP pools synchronization between Neutron and external hardware router. So, public and floating pools are actually parts of the same IP pool, but divided to VM part and infrascructure part.
19:54 MaverickHunter so infrastructure *hosts* and instances share ip's?
19:54 MaverickHunter I'm looking at it from multi-tenant perspective
19:54 MaverickHunter I'm used to vCloud Director
19:55 MaverickHunter where you have your edge VM and that talks to WAN and then acts as firewall for VM's connected to it
19:55 MiroslavAnashkin No,  public and floating IP pools must not intersect. These pools have different security settings.
19:56 MiroslavAnashkin There are 2 types of virtual routers in Neutron. 1 - node router, assigned to each deployed node. And 2 - tenant router - assigned to each defined tenant.
19:57 dburmistrov_ joined #fuel
19:58 MiroslavAnashkin Every node virtual router is assigned a Public IP. Every tenant virtual router is assigned a Floating IP

20:35 rnelan hey folks, I am back! good evening to you all!
20:38 rnelan Yesterday, I asked a question, but not sure I got the answer I needed.. I need to find out which nodes glance, neutron and rabbit are installed on.. I cant seem to find that information anywhere.. I looked at /root/openrc and it only showed one address for keystone .. no help there..
20:53 mihgen rnelan: hi
20:53 mihgen it's all installed on controller node
20:53 mihgen it should be in docs...
20:54 rnelan yes,  all controller nodes?
20:54 mihgen http://docs.mirantis.com/fuel/fuel-4.1/reference-architecture.html#multi-node-deployment
20:55 mihgen I hope it's still correct..  so please create bugs if it's not :)

21:08 mihgen rnelan: it is .. wait
21:08 mihgen which rabbit?)
21:08 rnelan amqp
21:08 mihgen we have > 1 rabbits..
21:08 mihgen master node or openstack ?
21:09 mihgen we use rabbit for master node too
21:09 rnelan ahh.. I am doing a nova install for Win 2012R2 server.. openstack
21:09 rnelan it is the cloudbase installer..
21:09 mihgen ok, then it's generated password
21:09 mihgen check it out in /etc/astute.yaml on controller node

21:09 rnelan in the /etc/astute there are 2 rabbit passwords

21:29 rnelan lol.. I am so screwed up right now..
21:29 mihgen why do you actually need a password for it?
21:29 rnelan all I want to do is join a 2012R2 box to openstack as a compute node..
21:29 rnelan the cloudbase installer asks for it
21:29 rnelan and the rabbit username

21:33 mihgen current release doesn't support anything else than just KVM on linux
21:33 mihgen obviously you can run anything inside of kvm
21:34 rnelan no, I am adding a 2012r2 host to openstack
21:35 MaverickHunter @MiroslavAnashkin, why do the node virtual routers need public IP's?
21:35 MaverickHunter I can understand the tenant virtual routers getting an IP
