06:41 ToTsiroll Hi guys, this is a beginner's question. Given 2 compute nodes with 8 core and 16gb ram..can i run one instance with more than 8 core or more than 16gb ram flavor?

08:01 racingferret ToTsiroll: basically, no.  If you're deploying with Fuel, you'll need at least one controller node and one compute, so your compute capacity will only be limited to 8 cores and 16GB RAM.
08:07 racingferret ToTsiroll: a vm can only exist on one compute node, regardless of how much "compute" you have in your cluster.
08:10 ToTsiroll but a vm can reside in another node (e.g in a ceph node) yet it is registered in a compute node

08:31 mihgen ToTsiroll: there are config options in openstack scheduler … so in theory you can have more virtual CPUs for your VMs
08:31 mihgen ToTsiroll: it's called overcommitment or something
08:31 mihgen ToTsiroll: there was a discussion in mailing list about this: https://lists.launchpad.net/fuel-dev/msg00679.html

08:54 evg ToTsiroll: hi, i'm not sure what you are  about, here is some info about recourse calculation, hope it'll help: http://docs.mirantis.com/fuel/fuel-4.1/install-guide.html#id10
09:01 ToTsiroll ok..thanks..i'll look into it

15:56 BillTheKat After booting the openstack nodes themselves, the console itself does not show a login prompt - the last message is "Stopping System V runlevel compatibility" - is there a trick to get a login prompt?
15:56 angdraug Alt-F2
15:57 blahRus MiroslavAnashkin: perfect ;)
15:57 blahRus Do you have access to tickets, I just updated it
15:59 BillTheKat angdraug: thanks !!!!  Why is this - why not provide a login prompt - never seen this before in ubuntu.
15:59 blahRus long story short we have having eth0 ARP'ing to the switch on eth0 & eth1 switch ports.
15:59 blahRus which is why it's finding a dhcp server (there isn't on eth0)
15:59 MiroslavAnashkin Only to the ones. directly assigned on me or on support groups I am in.
16:00 MiroslavAnashkin What is the ticket number?
16:00 blahRus #1696
16:02 angdraug BillTheKat: something messes up Ubuntu console during boot
16:02 angdraug since it's so easy to work around we didn't get around to fixing it yet
16:03 angdraug there's a bug in LaunchPad about it
16:04 angdraug https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1284023
16:07 MiroslavAnashkin blahRus: Interesting, I have access to this ticket, while not assigned. OK, and I have access to your Fuel UI. may I generate a diagnostic snapshot?
16:07 blahRus yup
16:07 MiroslavAnashkin Thnx.
16:09 MiroslavAnashkin BTW, you have 5 Ceph OSD nodes but have forgotten to set Ceph replication factor to at least 3. Default is 2, which is suitable for testing purposes only.
16:11 blahRus MiroslavAnashkin: kk, sounds good
16:11 blahRus we have 10 nodes in total, but having a heck of a time with the networking
16:12 blahRus I think I can fix the current issue with some switch changes, but no idea why we are getting arp's for the eth0 interface on both ports
16:14 MiroslavAnashkin If you use single switch with port groups for both ethX cards - it is possible.
16:14 blahRus MiroslavAnashkin: eth1 is on a different switch than eth0
16:19 MiroslavAnashkin blahRus: And please check Untitled (DD:46) - GUI reports its eth1 is in Down state.
16:22 blahRus yes, I am removing 2 boxes real quick.

16:58 blahRus MiroslavAnashkin: alright, down to one issue before I redeploy the HA-Cluster
16:58 blahRus network verification failed.
17:02 blahRus but I confirmed 10 times that the ports are tagged/trunk mode for those vlans
17:03 MiroslavAnashkin Since you use Neutron+GRE and VLANs - i suggest network verifivation may not work correct in such case.
17:04 blahRus oh
17:04 blahRus I'll try to deploy ;)
