08:39 sc-rm Hi, is it possible to use an external DHCP server for fuel?
08:40 AndreyDanin sc-rm, yes, but it's not easy to do.
08:42 sc-rm Okay, because we have an infrastructure running with ISC DHCPd right now.
08:42 AndreyDanin sc-rm, we use Cobbler, which configures Dnsmasq on the fly. So, you can try to force Cobbler to maintain your own DHCP.
08:43 sc-rm Okay, I’ll have a look…
08:45 sc-rm Then lets say I close it down and only uses Fuels DHCP server, when a server PXE boots, what will Fuel do with it? I’m thinking of will it install anything onto the machine or just run some software to detect it’s configuration and put the information into fuel
08:49 AndreyDanin sc-rm, your nodes (slave nodes in our terms) will boot up to a bootstrap image (CentOS-based netboot image). Then they will collect all the data they need and send it to the Fuel Master node.
08:50 sc-rm Okay and this CentOS is none intrusive aka it will not touch the disks/partitions and so on?
08:50 AndreyDanin sc-rm, Bootstrap image shouldn't corrupt any data on your slave nodes until you don't start a cluster deployment process.
08:51 sc-rm Cool :-)
08:52 AndreyDanin sc-rm, we use some custom templates for Dnsmasq config, so if you decide to use external ISC DHCPd you should provide the same functionality and DHCP options.
08:52 sc-rm Is it possible for me to configure Fuel to let selected machines boot as they are?
08:59 AndreyDanin sc-rm, you can add their MAC-addresses to /etc/cobbler/dnsmasq.template as excluded addresses and then run 'cobbler sync'
09:02 sc-rm Ahe, that will solve my problem :-)

10:04 sc-rm which process is running the fuel interface on port 8000? For some reason it does not look like it’s responding to calls

10:20 evg sc-rm: it's nginx, it should respond

11:03 sc-rm A reinstall did the trick, don’t know what went wrong the first time

11:33 sc-rm AndryDanin: When you talk about excluding addresses, how would you do it, because I have a bit of trouble finding the documentation for how to do so…
11:33 sc-rm AndreyDanin: typo
11:39 AndreyDanin sc-rm,  00:00:00:11:22:22,ignore
11:42 sc-rm just at the end of the file I guess

15:55 odyssey4me I've hit this bug - https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1312311

15:56 odyssey4me Is it possible for me to edit the kickstart file on the USB disk I've booted from, then restart the kickstart process?
16:13 rmoe joined #fuel
16:14 MiroslavAnashkin odyssey4me: yes, if you use USB. You may unpack ISO image from USB, apply the patch, linked to the bug to ks.cfg and assemble ISO image back.
16:16 MiroslavAnashkin Please note - there is md5 checksum, embedded into ISO. You may have to update it with implantisomd5

17:01 odyssey4me MiroslavAnashkin - thanks. In this case it was much easier, actually. I mounted the USB on a server, edited the kickstart and then used the USB to boot on my fuel server.
17:02 odyssey4me Thanks for the input, though. I'm looking forward to see 5.0 release - plenty of features in there I'm interested in.
