12:46 odyssey4me oh bother, my iso build is failing, from both master and stable/5.0
12:47 mattymo odyssey4me, what's broken?
12:47 mattymo we made a few package changes in the past 24 hrs, so maybe you have to rebuild the mirror
12:48 odyssey4me that sounds about right
12:48 odyssey4me I did a 'make clean' before trying to build the iso. I take it that doesn't clean up the mirror?
12:48 odyssey4me How do I go about rebuilding the mirror?
12:48 odyssey4me (or refreshing it)
12:49 mattymo make deep_clean
12:49 mattymo (I wish we called it make shampoo)
12:49 odyssey4me thanks - haha, I was just thinking about how hilariously close to washing hair it sounds
12:50 odyssey4me there should be a bit more reference to these in the dev docs, although I suppose we could always read the code
12:55 mattymo odyssey4me, I'll make a bug for you on that
12:55 mattymo should get to it in the next few days
12:56 odyssey4me thanks mattymo
12:57 mattymo no problem
12:57 odyssey4me how does one build the .img instead of the iso? I haven't found that writing the ISO to a USB drive works
12:57 mattymo type make with no arguments
12:57 mattymo it shows.. make iso makes iso, make img does img. all does both
12:58 mattymo it doesn't. img includes a partition table
12:58 odyssey4me aha, that does sound reasonable - I'm busy learning the fuel framework in preparation for us moving to using it as a deployment tool
13:00 odyssey4me this is involving a conversion of a previous lucky packet of tooling, and converting my knowledge of chef automation to puppet - riht now it's a little daunting, but I'm convinced that Fuel's well put together
13:00 mattymo we've put a lot of time into it and have a good testing framework, so it will have a bit better quality than a small homebrew
13:00 odyssey4me I've seen a few items in the blueprint list that I think I can contribute too, as well, but I need to get to know it all a little better first.
13:01 mattymo just ask. better for contribution questions in #fuel-dev
13:01 mattymo general usage help here
13:02 odyssey4me I see that Fuel 5.0 is using docker to seperate the different apps on the Fuel Master node now. I would think it'd be useful to see some explanation on the dev documentation for that too.
13:02 mattymo I worked on that part
13:02 mattymo it's in the user facing docs already a bit about how it affects usage
13:02 odyssey4me I haven't seen any bugs/bp's on it, but I would imagine that doing that documentation is already on the cards.
13:02 mattymo what do you want to see in the dev docs?
13:03 odyssey4me some sort of view of how it fits together, with a bit of a picture - depicting the containers, their purpose, their addresses and perhaps connecting points
13:04 odyssey4me joined #fuel
13:05 mattymo addresses are random. docker generates that
13:05 mattymo I have a presentation as part of a status update on how each container fits together I can send in a private message
13:06 odyssey4me mattymo - cool, that'd be great

14:21 Topic for #fuel is now Fuel 4.1 for Openstack: http://fuel.mirantis.com/ | Paste here http://paste.openstack.org/ | IRC logs http://irclog.perlgeek.de/fuel/
14:24 odyssey4me yup, even after a deep clean, 'make iso' is still failing due to package size mismatches on libjs-sphinxdoc & libjs-underscore
14:24 odyssey4me this is on the branch stable/5.0
14:42 mattymo odyssey4me, for centos or ubuntu?
14:42 mattymo (makes it easier to check)
14:44 odyssey4me mattymo - ubuntu, it would seem... the script error's out with fuel-main/build/mirror/ubuntu/createchroot.done Error 100
14:45 odyssey4me the libraries in question are deps for alembic
14:45 mattymo could be a sync issue with our public mirror - starting a build to see if I can reproduce it
14:45 getup- joined #fuel
14:45 mattymo I would suggest trying to clear any apt caches you have on your build host
14:48 odyssey4me mattymo - done, same error though
14:53 mattymo Get:10 http://mirror.yandex.ru/ubuntu/ precise/main libjs-underscore all 1.1.6-1ubuntu2 [31.3 kB] this worked for me
14:53 mattymo it's probably a public mirror bug
15:21 odyssey4me mattymo - agreed, if I compare the packages files on each mirror - the sizes are different between the two for te libjs-sphinxdoc package
15:22 odyssey4me it sounds to me like either an incomplete mirror, or an incorrectly populated packages file on http://fuel-repository.mirantis.com/
15:23 mattymo :(
15:24 mattymo I ran make iso with public mirror and it finished for me
15:24 odyssey4me ok, that's odd then
15:25 odyssey4me I'm using Ubuntu 13.10 for the build host. Would the host OS make a difference?
15:25 mattymo 12.04.4 works best
15:26 odyssey4me but this says otherwise (requires 12.10 or newer) http://docs.mirantis.com/fuel-dev/develop/env.html#building-the-fuel-iso
15:27 mattymo it's supposed to work but really 12.04.4 is the most reliable
15:29 odyssey4me alright - I'm happy to switch if it works

18:19 designated MiroslavAnashkin, thanks.  Can I go ahead and build a 5.0 ISO safely?
18:26 designated joined #fuel
18:28 MiroslavAnashkin Yes, you may build RC from stable/5.0 branch. Please make deep clean before build to refresh repositories.
18:29 designated MiroslavAnashkin, thanks.
