20:33 loth1 Does anyone have experiance with Ceilometer network.incoming.bytes cumulative sample? Its resetting to 0 on us and we arnt sure why
20:44 teknoprep joined #fuel
20:45 teknoprep i have our controllers comming online and getting setup
20:45 teknoprep they install CentOS
20:45 teknoprep they isntall OpenStack
20:45 teknoprep once OS is installed they go offline from the Fuel Portal
20:45 teknoprep i checked inside the configuration files for the networking... /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts
20:45 teknoprep none of the network interfaces have VLAN Tags on them once installed
20:45 teknoprep is this correct ?
20:46 xarses teknoprep: it would depend on your network settings. If you used the defaults, you should have tagged interfaces for management and storage roles on eth0
20:47 teknoprep i moved them to other interfaces
20:47 teknoprep i put all tagged interfaces on one network card for controllers
20:47 teknoprep admin / pxe is on eth0
20:47 teknoprep untagged

20:55 teknoprep anyone here ever install a Controller inside VMware ?
20:55 teknoprep so i don't have to use a physical machine for that purpose
20:55 teknoprep i have the VLAN Trunk port setup for 4095
20:55 teknoprep on vmware vswitch port group
20:55 teknoprep and that is connected directly to a controller
21:34 teknoprep nvm i found what was going on
22:03 xarses oh, on vmware, you have to change the virt nic to e1000
22:03 teknoprep yes i did
22:03 teknoprep i got it
22:03 teknoprep i thikni need 2 NIC Cards
22:03 teknoprep since one of the VLAN's come in Untagged
22:04 xarses shouldn't matter, you just need to define it as having a native vlan
22:04 teknoprep i did
22:05 teknoprep i have VLAN 10 as native
22:05 teknoprep thats PXE / Admin
22:05 teknoprep then i have 40 WAN / 50 Private / 60 Something Else / 70 Storage
22:05 teknoprep i can not ping out on VLAN 40 even though its assigned an IP address to br_ext
22:05 teknoprep i can on non-vmware servers
22:06 teknoprep do i need to use Promiscuous mode
22:06 xarses hmm, I think so
22:06 teknoprep yeah thats what i thought.. it is on promiscous mode
22:06 teknoprep i also have WAN 40 defined as a VMware Virual Machine Port Group for other servers
22:06 teknoprep i think this is where i may be getting issue
22:06 teknoprep if i were to remove that it might work
22:07 xarses see http://vbyron.com/blog/deploy-openstack-on-vsphere-with-fuel/
22:18 teknoprep is using ubuntu stable on 5.0 ?
22:18 teknoprep for nodes ?
22:19 xarses yes it should work fine
22:20 teknoprep do i have to use vlan splinters for Centos ?
22:20 teknoprep 6.4 is the version its trying to install
22:20 xarses depends on your hardware
22:20 teknoprep all intel hardware
22:20 teknoprep for compute nodes
22:20 teknoprep intel 10gig ethernet network adapters
22:20 teknoprep 1gig for admin
22:22 xarses ya, it can vary. There is a way to test it, let me look it up
22:22 xarses It is not always easy to tell whether a Linux kernel driver has
22:22 xarses buggy VLAN support.  The ovs-vlan-test(8) and ovs-test(8) utilities
22:22 xarses can help you test.  See their manpages for details.  Of the two
22:22 xarses utilities, ovs-test(8) is newer and more thorough, but
22:22 xarses ovs-vlan-test(8) may be easier to use.
23:05 teknoprep why would a specific ip address only be accessible from the localhost even though its a WAN IP
23:05 teknoprep is there a firewall that defaults onto the system for horizon access ?
23:11 teknoprep i can't access horizon from an external network
23:11 teknoprep x.x.x.44 is the br_ex interface ip
23:12 teknoprep x.x.x.44 is the br_ex_hapr address but the address to access horizon is x.x.x.40
23:12 teknoprep shouldn't the br_ex_hapr address be x.x.x.40
23:13 xarses no, br_ex and br_ex_hapr are supposed to be the same
23:13 teknoprep okj
23:13 xarses look in the haproxy namespace
23:13 teknoprep ok
23:13 xarses ip netns exec haproxy ip -4 a
23:13 teknoprep ok
23:13 xarses thats the vip IP(s)
23:13 teknoprep the VIP is not working for routing outside of the x.x.x.44/24 network
23:14 teknoprep while i can ping the x.x.x.44 from anywhere.. i can not ping x.x.x.40 from anywhere
23:14 xarses I'm supprised you can access the controllers ip outside the network
23:14 teknoprep i can however ping x.x.x.40 from any node in the x.x.x.44/24 range
23:14 teknoprep why xarses ?
23:14 teknoprep i should be able to no ?
23:14 teknoprep its a public ip address
23:14 xarses sorry, cant
23:15 teknoprep reboot fixed it
23:15 xarses odd
