01:07 KLonHJ Hey, guys! I have chosen a HA mode, but there is a primary controller and if it is going down, the whole HA
01:07 KLonHJ seemed not work. why?
01:15 angdraug many reasons
01:15 angdraug most recently https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/856764
01:16 angdraug there were other problems with failover we've fixed in 4.1.1, some more got addressed in 5.0, and some more yet only have fixes in yet unreleased 5.1

14:32 nucccc I will try with an CentOS deployment... I don't know if the result will be different.

14:39 nucccc In any case, we use normaly Debian server on our infra... I will try the nightly build with Ubuntu deployment to see if any difference.
14:40 MiroslavAnashkin Thank you for reporting it! We'll check.
14:44 nucccc I'll do some testing (nighty build), other infra and let you know my result.

15:40 BillTheKat On my Fuel 5.0 server when issuing a "fuel node" I am all of a sudden getting an Error 500: Internal Server Error.  Any idea what log files I should be looking at?

15:46 twforeman_ BillTheKat: Have you applied this patch? https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1328200/comments/12
15:47 BillTheKat no - will look - but why all of a sudden?
15:48 twforeman_ How many nodes do you have? The bug manifests when you reach between 8 and 13 nodes

15:54 MiroslavAnashkin Updated instructions on how to apply the patch https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1328200/comments/13
15:55 BillTheKat will do - looking for patch set on software.mirantis.com  - not clear where it is though
15:57 twforeman_ The patch is linked in the top of comment 12

18:57 TVR_ has anyone done any bench testing for network performance using neutron with gre?
18:58 e0ne joined #fuel
18:58 TVR_ the only issue I can see is there is an ethtool setting but that does not fix my slow network issues I am seeing
19:00 TVR_ management, storage and public are all on my 10G network, so seeing 26.6k transfew rates is odd
19:00 kupo24z2 TVR_: 26.6k on the VM level?
19:01 TVR_ yes.
19:01 kupo24z2 whats your MTR on the VM?
19:02 kupo24z2 try setting it to 1454
19:02 lordd joined #fuel
19:02 TVR_ so, here is my test... as example..... 3G file... from home server to source.. pulls at ~ 8.7MB while from instance pulls 26.1K... while from fuel that built instance cluster pulls ~ 8.4MB
19:03 kupo24z2 also turn GRO/GSO off on all of those deployed nodes if that doesnt work: ethool -K ethX gro off; ethtool -K ethX gso off
19:04 MiroslavAnashkin And ethtool -K ethX tso off
19:04 TVR_ do you mean MTU?
19:05 MiroslavAnashkin And do it for physical 10G NIC,
19:08 TVR_ ok.. so on all compute.. or all nodes do it to all physical devices?
19:08 MiroslavAnashkin https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1275650 - details on GRE settings
19:08 MiroslavAnashkin On all physical NICs, not non VMs
19:09 MiroslavAnashkin Or more exactly - on all physical NICS GRE tunnels goes through
19:10 TVR_ ok... so I will push this... cool...
19:11 TVR_ this openstack project has exposed me to elements of linux and hardware I never would have ever gone near... cool
19:17 TVR_ Features for eth2: rx-checksumming: on tx-checksumming: on scatter-gather: on tcp-segmentation-offload: off udp-fragmentation-offload: off generic-segmentation-offload: off generic-receive-offload: off large-receive-offload: off rx-vlan-offload: on tx-vlan-offload: on ntuple-filters: off receive-hashing: off
19:18 TVR_ Sooo....  rx-vlan-offload: on tx-vlan-offload: on.... and  .     rx-checksumming: on tx-checksumming: on scatter-gather: on
19:18 TVR_ those are OK.. yes?
19:18 TVR_ all else for offloading is now off
19:19 TVR_ hell yea!!
19:19 TVR_ that is more like it..
19:19 TVR_ thanks  !!!
19:27 dwangoAC If you were setting up a new VMWare Linux guest and you wanted to use encryption, would you trust VMWare's disk encryption or would you defer to encrypting the partition inside of Linux?
19:27 dwangoAC (Yes, this is slightly outside the scope of OpenStack, but I figured I'd gather opinions)
19:34 decede Is it normal for the fuel master to serve its own IP as the gateway via dhcp?
19:35 MiroslavAnashkin Yes, it is normal for Fuel Admin network.

21:20 BillTheKat I have fuel provisioning a cluster on a vbox environment - but my fuel server is not in the environment. Every provisions fine and the the cluster is up and running  - but Fuel GUI itself seems to be stuck in the last stage on completion - it says 100% in the progress bar - but never actually finishes - hung there.
21:40 mattgriffin joined #fuel
21:55 angdraug dwangoAC: I'd use encrypted partition inside Linux, because I'm paranoid and want to be able to migrate that VM to OpenStack :)
21:56 dwangoAC angdraug: Heh
