09:02 RicoLin Hi guys
09:02 kaliya_ hi RicoLin
09:02 RicoLin I have deploy an fuel env with HA
09:03 RicoLin I have  three controller node
09:03 RicoLin but I found my DHCP agent is running at a standby node
09:07 RicoLin Then I trace the code and found out that they attempt to start up DHCP agent and L3 agent speratly
09:08 RicoLin why fuel try to do this?
09:08 kaliya RicoLin: do you mean the DHCP client is running standalone?
09:12 RicoLin kaliya, yes
09:12 kaliya are you running a centos or ubuntu deployment?
09:12 RicoLin kaliya, ubuntu
09:13 kaliya RicoLin: is this causing you any issue? Or just an architectural question?
09:13 RicoLin kaliya, more like an architectural question
09:14 RicoLin kaliya, I don't get the point of sperate neutron DHCP agent from neutron L3 agent
09:16 kaliya RicoLin: I'll ask our team :)
09:16 RicoLin kaliya, thank you!! :)
09:19 tuvenen joined #fuel
09:25 kaliya RicoLin: so, it's for a more powerful load-distribution. In the current architecture, there are 1 L3 and 1 DHCP agent.
09:28 RicoLin kaliya,
09:28 RicoLin kaliya, I still have only 1  L3 and 1 DHCP agent
09:29 RicoLin kaliya, L3 agent at active controller node and DHCP agent at standby node
09:34 RicoLin I saw this code at https://review.openstack.org/#/c/101242/13/deployment/puppet/neutron/manifests/agents/l3.pp
09:35 RicoLin and it says "# start DHCP and L3 agents on different controllers if it's possible " at line 166
09:41 kaliya RicoLin: yes, only 1 agent for both tasks is right. Do you mean that on one of your 3 controllers, both L3 and DHCP is running?
09:57 RicoLin kaliya, My agent fallow that rule fine
09:57 RicoLin but I don't know why?
09:59 kaliya RicoLin: just for load reasons
10:01 Picachu joined #fuel
10:02 RicoLin kaliya, I see
10:03 RicoLin kaliya, so it means to sperate both load from L3 and DHCP
10:04 RicoLin I also encounter another problem
10:05 RicoLin after I force shutdown an standby controller
10:05 RicoLin the network become unreliable
10:05 RicoLin the connection become very slow
10:05 kaliya RicoLin: are you working on metal or VMs?
10:05 RicoLin my vm inside Openstack keep encounter with network connection fail
10:05 RicoLin yes
10:05 RicoLin VMS
10:06 RicoLin my environent on  metal
10:06 kaliya RicoLin: what's your *standby* controller? You mean one amongst the HA deployed controllers?
10:07 tuvenen_ joined #fuel
10:08 RicoLin standby are those controller with no VIP assigned
10:09 RicoLin and yes is one amongst the HA deployed controller
10:10 kaliya RicoLin: I'm checking if there are known issues
10:10 RicoLin kaliya, thank you ! : )
10:11 kaliya RicoLin: seems related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1328970 which is in progress
10:13 RicoLin kaliya, so the connection fail is because of an standby controller node failed?
10:14 pal_bth joined #fuel
10:15 kaliya RicoLin: yes, seems slow to switch
10:15 kaliya I never experienced this, but I can try to reproduce
10:22 RicoLin kaliya, but my env seems slow down longer then 30s
10:23 RicoLin kaliya, also the network keep failure between VMs

10:50 RicoLin kaliya, sure, I will try to reproduce that env
10:50 RicoLin and file a bug
10:50 kaliya RicoLin: thank you!
10:51 RicoLin thanks for your
10:51 RicoLin help!

14:11 merdoc Hi all. I faced with this bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/mos/+bug/1360000 and want to manual patch my instalation scripts/source code/etc to test ephemerial disks. I found this diff https://review.openstack.org/#/c/117282/ but it didn't help. any advise?
14:12 merdoc or do I need to wait while Fuel 5.0.2 will be awailable to download?
14:13 kaliya merdoc: Fuel 5.1 will be soon officially available
14:15 merdoc kaliya: can I see somewhere ETA for that?
14:16 kaliya merdoc: it's planned for 9/18 https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Fuel/5.1_Release_Schedule

18:11 Dr_Drache afternoon
18:31 kupo24z1 Is there any way to manually specify where Fuel installs to? I'd like to install it to a motherboard raid volume (dmraid) but It seems to try everything automatic
18:35 Dr_Drache kupo24z1, I know I just installed fuel 5.0.1 and it asked what drive.
18:36 MiroslavAnashkin Fuel asks to choose a drive only if there is more than one.
18:37 Dr_Drache I have a networking question that is bugging me,
18:37 emagana joined #fuel
18:38 Dr_Drache is there a way to have openstack's public network corospond to an existing network?
18:39 emagana_ joined #fuel
18:39 kupo24z1 MiroslavAnashkin: I think its not activating the raids before kickstart (dmraid -ay) and its only lising sda/sdb/sdc/sdd and not the raid volume
18:39 kupo24z1 listing*
18:42 Dr_Drache man this networking thing has gotten me all bent out of shape for no reason.
18:47 harybahh joined #fuel
19:01 MiroslavAnashkin They call it Provider or External network. http://docs.openstack.org/icehouse/install-guide/install/apt-debian/content/neutron_initial-external-network.html
19:01 Dr_Drache MiroslavAnashkin, yea forgot about the name change
19:02 Dr_Drache MiroslavAnashkin, there is no easy way to use fuel to deploy a cluster like this, is there?
19:04 e0ne joined #fuel

19:05 MiroslavAnashkin There is missing External Router/Gateway setting. We had it in CLI, but always forgetting to include to the GUI.
19:07 Dr_Drache lol
19:32 Dr_Drache well, hmmm, MiroslavAnashkin, can I then install with external on a seprate vlan, then change settings in horizon?
19:33 Dr_Drache MiroslavAnashkin, I'm not a networking guy at all, so this part has me confused.
19:45 ganso joined #fuel
19:52 MiroslavAnashkin No. all these settings are doable with OpenStack CLI only.
19:57 Dr_Drache well, hmm. guess I need to find somewhere to learn this craps :P
