08:38 sbartel hello
08:38 sbartel have a question concerning the gre segmentation with neutron
08:39 sbartel acccording to https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1285059 it seems that is is possible through fuel CLI to put the br-tun on an other interface that the management one
08:39 sbartel but Haven't find in the documentation how to do it
08:39 sbartel any tips avalaible?
08:40 kaliya hi sbartel, now I check
08:40 sbartel kaliya: thanks
08:44 evg sbartel: have you seen this http://docs.mirantis.com/openstack/fuel/fuel-5.0/reference-architecture.html#id48 ?
08:46 evg sbartel: there are some examples there (below) may be it'll help
08:49 sbartel evg: thanks, i read it already. unfortunatly in the yaml files there is no informations about the br-tun use for tunneling gre
08:49 sbartel so I am not able to modify the interface used for tunneling
08:50 kaliya sbartel: I try to escalate to the team to ask further info for your question

10:34 enik Hi
10:49 Longgeek joined #fuel
10:51 baboune joined #fuel
10:52 baboune hello, when doing a "Verify network" operation we get the following error: "Node Untitled (2c:e8) discovered DHCP server via eth2 with following parameters: IP: 172.17.0.7, MAC: 00:0c:29:83:2e:c0. This server will conflict with the installation." is not that address the internal fuel DHCP server for PXE?
10:53 baboune and why does it trigger this error?
10:53 kaliya baboune: do you have duplicate MACs?
10:59 enik I have a problem with fresh Fuel 5.0.1 install, looks like docker NAT-tftp problem, physical node trying to start from PXE, bootp/DHCP is ok, but the tftp communication doesn't work. http://paste.openstack.org/show/baSnVygqqJazwav7lKIZ/
11:02 enik Looks like tftp server replies from different port, and conntrack can't match the outgoing connection
11:11 baboune actually on the Fuel node: docker0 had the same mac as one of the bridge interfaces vethDK9bxM. is that expcted ?
11:13 sovsianikov joined #fuel
11:14 enik can anyone paste default itpables-save ?
11:15 Ch00k joined #fuel
11:16 enik I did exempt from NAT: iptables -t nat -I POSTROUTING -p udp --dport 69 -s $PXE_NET -j ACCEPT and tftp works
11:21 baboune what is the 172.17.0.7 address mapping to?
11:25 baboune actually that is the cobbler docker container
11:25 baboune I would have guessed that this address is the normal address for answering
11:25 baboune so I am confused about what the problem could be?
11:27 saibarspeis joined #fuel
11:31 enik baboune: cobbler is .10 in my install

11:32 merdoc Hi All! Can someone point me on manual about integration mirantis openstack and ldap? is that even possible?
11:32 harybahh joined #fuel
11:38 enik baboune: did you put the same network address for fuel and openstack?
11:43 evg merdoc: hi, there are a couple of blueprints on the subject but they are milestoned for future
11:43 evg merdoc: try http://docs.openstack.org/admin-guide-cloud/content/configuring-keystone-for-ldap-backend.html
11:46 merdoc evg: thx. by the way, I found this blogpost https://www.mirantis.com/blog/openstack-nova-and-dashboard-authorization-using-existing-ldap/ is he still relevant?

11:53 changyi Hello, does anyone know why Fuel don't enable STONITH mechanism?
11:55 sovsianikov joined #fuel
12:00 mattymo reliable stonith requires out of band (such as ipmi) to truly solve split brain
12:00 mattymo it's being worked on still
12:02 evg merdoc: hm, i'm not really sure. i meant ldap in keystone
12:06 baboune @merdoc, we integrated with LDAP in keystone using openstack havana
12:06 baboune I will try to find what we used
12:08 baboune we used this: https://github.com/SUSE-Cloud/keystone-hybrid-backend
12:08 baboune to be able to authenticate both against SQL and LDAP
12:13 alex_didenko joined #fuel
12:19 merdoc baboune: thx, I look at it
12:19 Dr_Drache hmm
12:22 Dr_Drache can anyone point me somewhere to crash course myself on openstack networking? I have one issue that is causing me issues.
12:29 evg Dr_Drache: http://docs.mirantis.com/openstack/fuel/fuel-5.0/reference-architecture.html#network-architecture hope it'll help
12:30 Dr_Drache evg, me too, networking is driving me to like windows :P
12:42 merdoc is it possible to use kvm hypervisor and docker on same openstack env? I want, for example, one node with kvm instances, and onother - with docker
12:48 Dr_Drache merdoc, as long as you don't expect to move instances
12:49 kaliya merdoc: for now, docker hyp is supported through Heat, afaik
12:51 merdoc Dr_Drache: but I still may move instance between nodes with same hypervisor, right?
12:51 Longgeek joined #fuel
12:52 merdoc kaliya: so I need write some 'hot' scripts or something? for now I don't understand what Heat for
12:53 merdoc and how to use it
12:54 Dr_Drache merdoc, you can yes, to boot instances in docker, the need the docker tag.
12:54 Dr_Drache s/the/they
12:55 kaliya merdoc: Heat is the OS templating https://launchpad.net/heat-templates
12:55 Dr_Drache docker is not in-tree yet, so it's all manual
12:56 merdoc I found this doc https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Docker but dunno is it for docker hyp only or I may combine it with kvm
12:57 kaliya merdoc: I think that in this cas Docker is another driver to Nova, like KVM, ESXi...
13:04 merdoc kaliya: so no combination KVM + Docker? %(
13:05 kaliya merdoc: do you mean migrate KVM images to Docker ones and viceversa?
13:06 kaliya maybe you can install the heat plugin on a compute node, but I never tried http://blog.scottlowe.org/2014/07/31/installing-the-docker-plugin-for-heat/
13:08 merdoc kaliya: no, I want some node on KVM, and another - on docker. and migration kvm - kvm, docker - docker.
13:10 kaliya merdoc: so, I think you must install the appropriate Nova driver for Docker on your Docker-compute nodes
13:10 Longgeek joined #fuel
13:11 MiroslavAnashkin https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Docker - I think it is a matter of scheduler settings
13:11 kaliya MiroslavAnashkin: is it in discussion for Juno?
13:12 MiroslavAnashkin May be, never seen this discussion
13:18 AKirilochkin joined #fuel
13:20 MiroslavAnashkin There is ComputeCapabilitiesFilter and hypervisor_type property. So, you deploy Mirantis OpenStack as usual (it does not support docker hypervisor out of the box), then install docker and drivers on the selected compute nodes, change node driver to Docker, may be re-add this node to the cluster with `nova-manage db_sync` and then use proper scheduler filters to manage docker instances between the docker-enabled compute nodes.
13:21 MiroslavAnashkin http://docs.openstack.org/grizzly/openstack-compute/admin/content/scheduler-filters.html
13:31 merdoc MiroslavAnashkin: thx. I was thinking about something like that. will try. also I have ceph as a glance/cinder backend it's ok for docker?
13:35 baboune hello, when doing a "Verify network" operation we get the following error: "Node Untitled (2c:e8) discovered DHCP server via eth2 with following parameters: IP: 172.17.0.7, MAC: 00:0c:29:83:2e:c0. This server will conflict with the installation." is not that address the internal fuel DHCP server for PXE? What could trigger this error?
13:36 merdoc what type of network do you use? nova flatdhcp/ neutron gre/ neutron vlan ?
13:37 kaliya baboune: on metal or VMs?
13:41 Dr_Drache baboune, if any of your network is on an exsisting segment it will throw that error.
13:42 Dr_Drache like, "external/public" connected to exsisting DC network with DHCP, fuel won't install.

13:49 merdoc yet another question. do I need configure cpu/ram overcommiting on each compute node or on controller?
13:52 ddmitriev joined #fuel
14:02 kaliya merdoc: what overcommiting?
14:03 AKirilochkin joined #fuel

14:09 Dr_Drache hmm
14:09 Dr_Drache after a fuel deployment
14:09 Dr_Drache is there an easy way to redo the networks?
14:10 kaliya Dr_Drache: redefine pools etc?
14:11 merdoc kaliya: http://docs.openstack.org/openstack-ops/content/compute_nodes.html#overcommit
14:11 Dr_Drache kaliya, yea, rebuild to allow extrnal on my exsisting network
14:11 Dr_Drache I have a guide i'm following, but one interface stays down.
14:12 Dr_Drache I can't add new ones, and can't delete current to add new
14:12 AKirilochkin_ joined #fuel
14:12 Dr_Drache I want to totally redefine the networks
14:13 merdoc Dr_Drache: you mean after you creating env in fuel? you may go to actions -> reset and discard all changes
14:13 kaliya merdoc: they are deployed with standard values. Defining overcommiting from the master is still a blueprint
14:13 Dr_Drache merdoc, no sir, in Horizon. fuel doesn't support what I want to do (but OS does)
14:14 Dr_Drache unless someone can tell me how to make this work from fuel
14:15 merdoc kaliya: standart ratio 16:1 for CPU, but my test env with core i5 show me that i have 4 VCPU per node, instead of 64
14:16 merdoc so it seems like current cpu_allocation_ratio set to 1:1 in nova
14:17 Dr_Drache merdoc, i did notice that as well
14:18 merdoc kaliya: now I try to configure 16:1 ratio. i change it on one compute node and restart openstack-nova-compute on that node, but nothing chages. so I decided change that param on controller - same thing
14:19 kaliya merdoc: I will inquire
14:19 merdoc kaliya: thx
14:20 Dr_Drache I'm attempting to follow this : https://www.edge-cloud.net/2014/01/openstack-vsphere-nsx-part5/  to get my cluster on my exsisting network....
14:20 Dr_Drache anyone have any pointers of how to make it acually work?
14:21 Longgeek joined #fuel
14:23 kaliya merdoc: how did you try to overwrite the overcommit setting? by modifying nova.conf and then restart nova-scheduler ?
14:28 merdoc kaliya: by modifying nova.conf on controller and restarting openstack-nova-api. also tried to change nova.conf on compute and restarting openstack-nova-compute
14:30 f13o joined #fuel
14:34 merdoc kaliya: here some config and nova info - http://pastebin.com/e4kKRMUc
14:35 kaliya merdoc: I found this on Fuel https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1333436 and seems we hardcoded set autocommit at 8:1:1
14:38 Dr_Drache sweet
14:38 Dr_Drache kaliya, is there a "simple" way to get all the documentation?
14:38 merdoc kaliya: it's realy wierd, because I see 1:1:1. my core i5 have 4cpu/8gbram and same values i see in horizon
14:39 mpetason joined #fuel
14:40 kaliya Dr_Drache: you can download the whole documentation by cloning https://github.com/stackforge/fuel-docs and then make pdf
14:41 kaliya merdoc: fuel 5.0.1?
14:41 merdoc kaliya: yep
14:41 Dr_Drache kaliya, I JUST saw that, thanks :P
14:42 Dr_Drache now to fix my networking, I might acually be about to go into full testing.
14:42 Dr_Drache good day so far
14:42 kaliya merdoc: I try to see, then eventually escalate to the team
14:42 kaliya Dr_Drache: :)
14:43 Dr_Drache kaliya, bet you can't help with that, can ya? :P
14:43 bookwar Dr_Drache: or you can download PDF versions from http://docs.mirantis.com/fuel/fuel-master/, it is built exatly the same way
14:43 Dr_Drache bookwar, but but... I want to clone :P
14:43 bookwar Dr_Drache: as you wish )
14:43 merdoc Dr_Drache: fork it! :D
14:44 Dr_Drache merdoc, if anything is done right, it should be forked....
14:48 kaliya Dr_Drache: you bet?
14:53 Dr_Drache kaliya, it's an expression.
14:53 Dr_Drache I think I just broke my deploment
14:53 kaliya Dr_Drache: if you have improvements for the docs, they are welcome :)
14:54 Dr_Drache kaliya, I'll look for sure, I did some serious bug reporting in 4.0
14:54 Dr_Drache but, was out of the loop for various reasons.
14:54 Dr_Drache and now network demands have changed how this needs to be deployed.
15:01 merdoc kaliya: may I suggest to https://blueprints.launchpad.net/fuel/+spec/cpu-overcommit-setting also add option in dropdown? something like 'no cpu\light cpu\heavy cpu' and 'custom cpu'
15:02 kaliya merdoc: sure, thanks
15:10 Dr_Drache hmmm
15:10 Dr_Drache is there a way I can test 5.1?
15:11 Dr_Drache thinking maybe ML2 will help me out.
15:11 merdoc Dr_Drache: wait 2 days. release 5.1 scheduled on 18 sep
15:12 Dr_Drache merdoc, according to to lauchpad, they aren't making it.
15:13 kaliya Dr_Drache: here https://fuel-jenkins.mirantis.com/view/ISO/job/publish_fuel_community_iso/ the nightly build
15:13 Dr_Drache kailya, thank you.
15:13 Dr_Drache i'm in a testing mode, so I'd like to see how far I can get
15:16 Dr_Drache merdoc, they are getting better at hitting deadlines for sure.
15:16 Dr_Drache but I'd rather they didn't hit it, and have a better product.
