08:10 phreak__ does anyone have a working debian qcow? just recently built one with cloud-init, but it doesn't boot correctly

08:11 phreak__ (or a collection of qcow's)
08:12 kaliya phreak__: unfortunately, not. And seems tha Debian project doesn't provide ready images
08:12 kaliya phreak__: you have to do on your own, or try with Ubuntu
08:13 phreak__ ubuntu is no problem, centos isn't either, debian is, tho
08:13 kaliya I know...
08:14 adanin joined #fuel
08:14 phreak__ i followed the examples on thornelabs, but it isn't working (neither does the logging output of the console, so i can't figure out where the problem resides)
08:14 kaliya phreak__: we can try to ask on the debian channel or openstack-debian ;)
08:15 phreak__ hm, indeed ;)
08:23 stamak joined #fuel
08:24 phreak__ still wondering why debian does not provide qcow's, they are really stuck in time
08:24 kaliya phreak__: debian is conservative
08:25 phreak__ kaliya: so, stuck in time :P
08:26 phreak__ they already lost alot of big partners for being conservative

09:55 merdoc hi all! I created new tenant and new service network for it. in tenant I created router and internal net. conected router to service and internal net. now I create insnatce, that connect to int net. when I try ping router from that instance I got 'ping timeout' or 'net unreacheble'
09:55 merdoc http://paste.openstack.org/show/118052/ some paste
09:55 merdoc I'm curious about "status                | DOWN" in port info
09:56 kaliya merdoc: in router?
09:58 merdoc yes
09:58 merdoc that port - gateway for all instances
10:00 merdoc if I connect router to net04_ext (wich created by default) that port will be UP
10:01 merdoc (neutron) port-update abea746f-483f-4dfd-8715-12223395ffe3 --status active

10:53 kaliya merdoc: what if you try to --status ACTIVE ?
10:55 merdoc Cannot update read-only attribute status
10:56 kaliya merdoc: in neutron server.log something relevant_
10:56 kaliya ?
10:57 merdoc kaliya: TooManyExternalNetworks: More than one external network exists
10:58 merdoc Exception: The 'gateway_external_network_id' option must be configured for this agent as Neutron has more than one external network.
10:58 merdoc seems like I need read couple docs...
10:59 kaliya merdoc: yes I'd suggest to read something on Openvswitch :)

12:11 merdoc Dr_Drache: yes, but that port not external
12:16 Dr_Drache merdoc, not on external network?
12:17 merdoc Dr_Drache: it's port on router. that router connected to extarnal and internal net. and internal port in state "down"
12:18 Dr_Drache ahh,
12:18 merdoc this problem because I setuped enother external net and connect router to it
12:20 merdoc I think that I just try to do that not supposed to work by design (%

14:25 baboune hi, is there a way to delete a node in a "stopping" environment via the fuel cli?
14:26 baboune BAsically my UI is stuck on stopping and I went and deleted the cobbler system for that node
14:26 ArminderS joined #fuel
14:26 baboune it is a zabbix node, and I got a kernel panic error..
14:28 baboune basically would liek to remove the node role, and restore the UI so that my env is not "Stopping" the last change
14:28 baboune Or remove the "Stopping" status
14:29 jobewan joined #fuel
14:29 kaliya baboune: did you try to force from the CLI fuel --env <ID> node --remove <NODEID>
14:30 baboune kaliya: I was trying to find such a command... tried it but the node is still there with "error" status
14:31 kaliya baboune: the env is in reset?
14:31 baboune kaliya: no.
14:31 kaliya baboune: you should select, delete, and deploy changes
14:32 baboune kaliya: would liek to avoid that as the env was fine and working before I decided to add a zabbix machine
14:33 kaliya baboune: how did you get to the current status? Did you do something on the Fuel UI or just the node panicked?
14:33 baboune kaliya: hwo do i do that from CLI?  fuel --env id node --select 46?
14:33 baboune kaliya: the new node ran into a kernel panic error
14:33 baboune kaliya: at which point some of the OS was installed
14:34 baboune kaliya: so it ws not booting anymore
14:34 baboune kaliya: went into UI tried to "Stop" the deployment of my changes
14:34 kaliya baboune: so you had a working env. You added the zabbix later?
14:34 baboune kaliya: yes
14:35 Dr_Drache baboune, you try to reboot in bootstrap?
14:35 Dr_Drache fuel needs to see that node show up to remove it.
14:35 baboune fuel sees the node now that I removed its entry in cobbler.. bu tit booted back into "bootstrap" image
14:35 baboune which does nto match what is expected in the UI
14:36 Dr_Drache baboune, you should never remove manually unless you had no choice.
14:36 baboune Dr_Drache: true.  if somehow I coudl remove the node from the env then I guess things would get better
14:37 Dr_Drache a redeploy is going to be nessary at this point. unless kaliya comes up with something else.
14:37 Dr_Drache since, not only that node was modifyed when you added zabbix.
14:38 baboune Does adding zabbix modify the other nodes?
14:38 kaliya baboune: yes because an agent is installed
14:39 kaliya baboune: it should be installed together with the cluster at the beginning
14:39 baboune kaliya: ok. then I am going to have to do a reset..
14:39 kaliya baboune: did you run a ubuntu or centos cluster? there's an issue of centos with zabbix
14:39 baboune kaliya: centos...
14:39 kaliya there is a patch for 5.12
14:39 kaliya 5.1
14:39 kaliya https://review.openstack.org/#/c/121588/ you have to apply http://docs.mirantis.com/openstack/fuel/fuel-5.1/operations.html#apply-patch-ops
14:40 baboune Thx
14:40 baboune kaliya: how do i get out of this "Stopping" state
14:41 kaliya You have to reset
14:41 baboune ok.. sigh
14:41 baboune kaliya: reset is nto available... so it is back to Delete
14:41 kaliya I'm sorry... Unfortunately this experimental feature still has some issues in 5.1
14:42 kaliya it's experimental indeed :)

14:44 phreak__ hm adding an extra controller node to my deployed cluster just killed my entire controller enviroment
14:44 phreak__ nifty
14:45 kaliya phreak__: in HA?
14:45 phreak__ yes
14:45 Dr_Drache phreak__ 5.1?
14:45 phreak__ also correct
14:45 Dr_Drache well that's bad.
14:46 phreak__ centos / 5.1 / HA
14:46 Dr_Drache I do love seeing all these centOS problems. LOL
14:46 phreak__ thank god it wasnt running any instances
14:46 phreak__ tried to fiend logging, but sorry
14:47 phreak__ doing to much at the same time and it annoyed me a bit so i deleted the enviroment, switching to the ubuntu enviroment, see if that works better
14:49 kaliya phreak__: did you lose ALL logs? that would be a very interesting bug to file. Could you please briefly explain your setup?
14:51 kaliya Dr_Drache: we're seeing that sometimes centos behaves a bit strangely, more than ubuntu
14:51 phreak__ my setup, in that cluster was: 3 x controller node+mongodb+cellometer, 3 x compute and 2 x storage (ceph/cinder)
14:52 kaliya phreak__: so you added another controller+telemetry ?
14:52 phreak__ no, that's not possible
14:52 phreak__ only controller
14:53 Dr_Drache kaliya it's because centOS is old
14:53 Dr_Drache backport code is crappy code IMO.
14:53 Dr_Drache :P
14:53 kaliya phreak__: I'm checking, thanks for sharing this info
14:53 kaliya Dr_Drache: not as older as Debian :P
14:53 Longgeek_ joined #fuel
14:54 phreak__ kaliya: when i added the 4th controller node, the first crashed ;)
14:54 kaliya phreak__: centos or ubuntu?
14:54 phreak__ i guess it had something to do with creating the replicating scheme
14:54 phreak__ centos
15:02 baboune since I am resetting.. IF I select Storage CEPH OSD, and create a VM with ephemeral storage, is the ephemereal store using the physical host storage disks? Or Ceph?
15:03 * phreak__ has this setup: http://picpaste.com/Screen_Shot_2014-10-03_at_17.02.01-6rPZasdd.png
15:03 phreak__ right now, to be deployed
15:03 kaliya baboune: depends on your settings in settings pane, there's an option to store ephemeral on ceph
15:03 kaliya baboune: if selected, ephemeral will be on ceph
15:04 baboune kaliya: otherwise does it use the "virtual storage" as available in the configure disk menu i.e. the local disks?
15:05 kaliya baboune: right
15:08 AKirilochkin joined #fuel
15:09 baboune kaliya: thx
15:09 kaliya baboune: np indeed
15:10 phreak__ kaliya: is my setup (i pasted above) okay?
15:11 mpetason joined #fuel
15:11 teran_ joined #fuel
15:12 kaliya phreak__: yes. But please note that combining controller+telemetry might lead from time to time to very high loads on controllers
15:13 phreak__ that shouldn't be an issue because most computing (instances) will be run from computing nodes?
15:14 kaliya phreak__: depends how ceilometer is configured and how much will write
15:14 phreak__ okay
15:15 phreak__ ideal is? ceilometer not on a controller?
15:18 kaliya phreak__: yes, on standalone nodes
15:19 phreak__ thanks
15:21 phreak__ filling racks was never as easy... ordering additional hardware ;)
15:21 kaliya phreak__: which hardware did you buy to run Openstack?
15:22 phreak__ we have HP DL380G7's and G6's
15:23 phreak__ it's not especially new hardware, but it has enough power to compete ;)
15:23 kaliya phreak__: it's ok
15:23 angdraug kaliya: actually CentOS 6 is 2 years older than Debian 7, and that's if you don't run sid like me
15:24 kaliya angdraug: do you mean centos 6.5? yeah
